I'm so sorry for every thing you are going through right now. I know that words can be meaningless in times like these. But I wanted you to know that you are in my prayers. Losing a parent is hard enough without all these trials you are going thought but I know that you are strong enough to get through it. It will be a long hard road, one that seems like it never gets any better, however it will. You have people who love you. People say that those who love us watch over us from wherever they are but I know you dad will be right next to you every step of the way. You may not see him but he will be there. I hope you can find peace as you recover. God be with you.

Very lovely writing! I like the way she regains strength, despite her fragility. He considers her vulnerability but... what's a dog to do?! Nice counterpoint to the violence and threat of rape that starts the story.
