I do not own Inuyasha or its characters.

Loyalty

There were many things Myouga didn't understand. First was the stubbornness of dog demons when it came to human women. Second was the stupidity of the dog demons' enemies.

Inutaisho was a force to be reckoned with when it came to one special woman. Frail of body, Izayoi was far from the dainty female human women were oft to be. Perhaps that was what had drawn the demon to her side. Izayoi possessed an inner strength that was rare in the women of that time. She was faithful, loving, and loyal enough to earn Inutaisho's timeless devotion.

Then, there was the eldest son, regal to be sure, hardheaded to a fault. It was a human female that secured his affections as well. Not a single demoness had earned Sesshomaru's regard in all the years Myouga had watched him grow. And yet, one fateful day, Rin gave her loyalty to the pack's new Lord. And Sesshomaru, for all his stoic indifference, accepted her.

And again, with Inuyasha, the cycle continued. Kagome, yet another human woman, offered her loyalty, and her companionship. She was faithful and kind, fiercely protective of the half-demon who rebuffed her every attempt at love. Years passed while Myouga watched in silence. And sure enough, Inuyasha returned Kagome's feelings, protecting her with a fierceness that matched that of his long-dead Father, and rivaled that of his full-blooded sibling.

Had their enemies known that their greatest weapon lay secured in one flea's knowledge, Myouga would have been hunted tirelessly for the secrets that could have easily destroyed the rule of the Western pack.

But no one cared what a flea saw, nor sought the knowledge that could bring about their greatest enemy's defeat. And it was all the better. After all, Myouga hated to be the center of attention.

Written for and posted to lj for their prompt, 'What the Flea Saw', and came in at exactly 300 words.

Just getting home for the doc- seems I'll be visiting the neurosurgeon to see if there's something they recommend.

I'll update when I can- things here just seem to be spiraling out of my control right now.

*hugs*
