-Chapter Twenty-Six-
Blame: Part Two
The weight was pressing him down, suffocating him. It felt like he was trapped and no matter how hard he fought he couldn't escape. He had no control over it. Everything felt so wrong but whenever he thought that he was forced to see his tutor's death again. It kept him angry but his mind was still confused. Why would Yamamoto do that? Why would any of them? There was nothing that led up to it. No signs that they weren't who they seemed to be. His intuition should have caught any falseness coming from them.
Nothing made sense.
That scene of being choked and Yamamoto's sword going through Ernesto passed through his mind again. He fought it and nausea started to kick in. There was no way he was giving in though and he kept on struggling until his eyes flew open. He woke up still fighting, trying to sit up, but he couldn't move his hands.
Tsuna knew he was onto something and he kept his limbs flailing. He was almost there. Almost! Then he started to come out of his mind and take in the room he was in. It was the infirmary and he was lying handcuffed on a bed. Alaude's handcuffs. He was coming back to reality but he felt like he was settling into a dream. He was losing something and he didn't know what it was. He laid back in the bed and arched his back as he pulled up at the handcuffs, screaming in frustration.
Finally, his back hit the bed again and his brown eyes darted around the room, trying to find a way out. He had a mission to complete. They would pay for their sins. Something in the corner of the room caught his attention. Primo was lying in a bed as far from Tsuna's as possible. He felt an eerie calm settle over him when he saw the blonde.
Looking back down at his handcuffed wrist he stared down at it in thought. If he messed with the handcuff itself Alaude would surely be alerted of his attempt at escape. He couldn't let that happen. Smirking, he started to kick the guardrail that the other end of the handcuff was attached to.
After G seemed to accuse Talbot of the time travel Gokudera quickly glanced at the other tenth generation guardians. It was true that Talbot was the creepiest person they have ever met, more so than even Mukuro. They knew he was always doing some strange things, thought the guardians barely saw him. Tsuna meet with him the most and after every meeting the brunette had alone with the old man he seemed spooked. Always jumpy and looking around corners for the rest of the day. Sometimes it lasted longer. Especially if Reborn started to mess with him.
So, when in doubt blame in on Talbot. That seemed to be what the first generation automatically did anyway. None of them even seemed to doubt the idea. Even Lampo didn't question it, he only knew they were meant to be from the future after all, not how they got here. Of course there were still the obvious questions they wouldn't be able to avoid.
G stopped his sudden stare down with the other first generation guardians and shouted for Bertha. She was the only one fearless enough to do what he needed. She came into the room shortly after, with an irritated expression on her face.
"You bellowed?"
He glared at her and she huffed, "Now don't you look at me like that. This is my day off and I was keeping watch on Giotto and little Tsuna. You are lucky I even heard you."
After being reminded of Giotto's state of unconsciousness G seemed to physically deflate. "Just go get Talbot for me would you?" Bertha realized then why it was her he had called for and nodded before silently leaving the room. Rubbing his face with his hands, G leaned back in his seat. Gokudera could sympathize with the other man. If he had seen his sky brutalized like that and by a child that he trusted no less, he would have no clue what to do either.
If it had been someone different he would have obliterated them, but he couldn't do that to a kid. Maybe in his teen years he would have but it was different now. Plus to be betrayed by someone that was trusted made things far worse. There was no way he could immediately kill someone like that for their infraction since he would have wanted answers for why they would do something so awful. In the end that's just what G was seeking.
The red haired man raised his head to stare at the children. "You're from the future." Ryohei nodded enthusiastically. Before the older boy could say anything, Yamamoto swung his arm around Ryohei's neck and brought him in closer to him, laughing. G took notice of that but continued anyway. "What exactly is your relation to the Vongola?" He glanced down at their rings while he said it.
They never got the change to say anything before Lampo piped in. "They are future Vongola guardians." The first generation had a rather diverse reaction, Daemon seemingly the most displeased. Although Alaude had the most troubling reaction, as he started to chuckle. Knuckle felt a chill go down his spine, remembering the blonde man's expression from earlier. This felt very dangerous, like his fellow guardian had finally snapped.
Cavallone and his men were the only ones that weren't instantly nervous, their anxiety having only been influenced by the tension that emerged with the laugh. They had heard a lot about the Vongola's drifting cloud though, and could not rationalize his current behavior with what they knew. The room had chilled and the French man was looking at the children as if it could skewer them. Hibari stared back at him, calm and collected just waiting for the overcast to be over with.
Alaude grabbed the boy by his shirt yet again. "You call yourself a Vongola guardian? After what you did to that boy and what he did to Giotto?" The tenth generation were surprised that the Hibari Kyoya they knew would take this kind of disrespect, not even just once but twice. Though he had indeed grown as an individual as the years went on, he still couldn't stand to be touched without permission. Permission he never gave to anyone except Tsuna.
The skylark had been letting it happen up to this point, mostly because of what he had done to the other boy while he was without his memories. Yet Alaude's actions were getting old very quick. He knew he had done wrong but that was not really him, just another version that has since disappeared. Right now all he cared about was making sure Tsuna got back to normal. He didn't need the other cloud guardian in his face about something he himself couldn't control.
At the same time though, the ex- prefect could understand why the blonde would act this way. He was feeling things that were new and troublesome. Never before did he have to worry about Giotto. No matter what the other man always came up the winner from a fight. Any assassins were captured and dealt with accordingly by Alaude. Except Tsuna had been able to get to his sky. Right now he felt inadequate, that he wasn't able to protect him.
Hibari had felt the same exact way once. Back when they were sent to the future and he realized that Tsuna had been killed he'd been infuriated. Eventually he realized behind all that anger was a heavy guilt. Why hadn't I been able to protect him? Had he become so weak that he couldn't fulfill his obligation to his lover? By the end of his time in the future he found out that it was all intentional.
Tsuna's death had only been a part of the plan. How had it gotten that far that doing such a time was even needed. His future self had been weak. Horribly weak. He'd decide he would never let that happen again. It hadn't mattered that his relationship with the other boy was new at the time, he knew he would be with him forever. He didn't take commitment lightly. What was his was his.
Alaude was feeling the same way right now; infuriated and at the base of it all was that overwhelming guilt. That still wasn't enough to excuse this behavior twice though.
Giving his best glare, Hibari stared into the blonde's eyes and communicated that if he continued as he was then it would be the other man's death day. The first generation cloud guardian didn't let up and the boy growled out, "I'll bite you to death." Tonfas slid down from inside his shirt sleeves into his hands.
Alaude threw the boy down onto the couch to create some distance and backed up a bit. Gokudera and G screamed for them to stop but the fight was already on.
Hibari knew that there was no way he could take the first cloud guardian on in a serious fight without going all out himself. Without even thinking about how their rings were back in their original forms, no longer Vongola gear, he attempted to summon his Cambio Forma.
Gokudera realized that the bird bastard was gonna get himself killed at this rate while trying to stupidly use something that didn't exist. He made a move to lunge at his fellow guardian to take him down while he could and remedy the situation. Yamamoto stopped him from doing so with an arm that snaked around his waist and pulled him back into his seat.
"Don't. Something is happening."
Just like the idiot said within seconds there was a strange glow surrounding Hibari's ring. Before they could react there was a blinding light and the force of whatever it was started to push Alaude's whole body away from the young boy.
After the light died down it was clear to see that the skylark's ring had vanished and he was wearing what the younger bodied guardians knew to be Hibari's version of the Namimori uniform. Along with the change of clothes, his tonfas also seemed to have changed. The tenth generation seemed just as shocked as the rest of them, having not expected it to work.
It was always quite a sight for them even in the future. Ten years ago no one had blinked an eye at their cloud guardian's version of Cambio Forma. The Namimori uniform was what Hibari always wore even if this one looked a bit different. Time had changed that. It was always hilarious to see a grown man in what was supposed to be a middle school uniform.
They knew not to laugh though. When Lambo finally saw his fellow guardian in at outfit at the age of 23, the brat had nearly split a gut in laughter. In turn the raven haired man had nearly given him a split gut in the ensuing attack. No one laughed at how horribly his Cambio Forma aged with him again.
The tenth generation came out of their thoughts, scrabbling to get off the couch and as far away as possible as Hibari made a motion to release the chains on his tonfas. Their cloud guardian was known for his friendly fire when in his Cambio forma. Sometimes even when he wasn't and they were sure all of them had at least been hit once by him in the midst of battle. It was usually shortly after they had done something to annoy him. Tsuna didn't let him go after them as hard as he used to, if at all. To compensate for that he surely hit them on purpose.
It was right after the chain was released that a hand came down onto the skylark's own and forced him to halt his movements. Pissed off that he hadn't even felt anyone come close, he swung his other arm towards the interloper so that the tonfa chain would force them into submission. Unlike anything he had ever seen before outside of his battles with Tsuna, the chain was dodged and yet the hold on his arm remained along with his other one being caught in a similar death grip.
Suddenly, both of his arms were released. The event had disturbed him enough that he jumped backwards, creating some distance between him and the newcomer. He kept a defensive stance, prepared to battle if need be. The other guardian were just as on edge as this young man was someone they had never seen before.
The intruder stared down at his open hand, with which he had held the cloud guardian with, as if he was mystified. His black hair fell slightly into his eyes, obscuring them as he began to grin manically. Slowly, he raised his head until he was looking at G. "I was told there was a situation you desperately needed me here for?"
G glared back at him. "Talbot, what have you done now?!" He swung his arm towards the children as if he were to blame for their very existence. "I thought after Giotto's last talk with you, you'd finally come to understand what you can and cannot do!"
Talbot blinked back owlishly at him, as did the tenth generation. This was Talbot? Well they suppose he did have to be young once. It was just that after knowing he had lived hundreds of years it just seemed like he had been around forever, long before even Primo's time. Except he looked more like he was Giotto's age than an ancient immortal monster that they had come to believe he was.
Finding out that he was actually human was far more terrifying than seeing him just as old as he was in their time would have been. They didn't want to know how he'd managed to stay alive so long. It was definitely a result of his unholy experiments though.
Finally the craftsman spoke, "Although, I really would like to claim thi-"
A demonic scream came out of nowhere, the sound just barely reaching them. It continued for a while as the group tensed as a whole, even Talbot had his shoulders hunched in as if he was trying to hide his eyes. It wasn't noisy, just heart palpitatingly unnerving. It was also Tsuna's voice, or at least what was left of it.
Once the banshee cry stopped Lambo murmured, "Tsuna's awake." It would have been hilarious if it wasn't such an alarming thing.
Alaude watched as Hibari deactivated his Cambio Forma and then looked in the direction of the infirmary as if he was sensing something. "He hasn't attempted to remove his handcuffs." After confirming that he went back to eyeing the other cloud guardian, more interesting in taking him out than a screaming child.
Ryohei turned away from them all, "You have extremely too much trust in your cuffs." He ran out of the sitting room to go check on Tsuna before anyone could catch him. Gokudera chased after him, as did the rest of both the first and tenth generation.
"Lawn head, you moron! The room is this way."
Ryohei turned back without breaking, knocking down Yamamoto in the process and running in the direction of the stairs. "I'm extremely sorry!" Yet he didn't stop and Gokudera was already too far up to go back for him and not get caught by the first generation. He was nearly trampled as the rest of the tenth generation flew passed him. Mukuro stepped on his back purposefully and since he was pulling Chrome with him she did also.
"I'm sorry, Yamamoto." At least she apologized. Before he knew it he was being pulled off the ground by Asari with help from Cavallone. It was the first time he ever really looked at the mafia don for more than a glance. He stared up at the face of Dino. All of this look alike stuff was even starting to get to him, the least sensitive guardian of such matters.
He was dusted off and placed on his feet. Asari never did let go of his hand though and it was quite awkward. The other rain guardian might not know it but they were both grown men and he was leading him around like a child. He could only hope that Hayato didn't see, he was notoriously jealous at times and Yamamoto had always admired Asari in the past. His lover might take this the wrong way.
He needn't worry though, Gokudera only had eyes for the tenth at the moment. The silver haired boy was racing Ryohei to the infirmary, trying to get there before the first generation caught up with them. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be. In their previous lives they may have been fast but they were currently in the bodies of children. Their strides weren't long enough to keep the short head start that they had gained initially.
The guardians were quick to catch up. Mukuro and Chrome got caught up in Daemon's illusions, having no choice but to stay still. They both could have easily broken out, but fighting would only worsen their situation. At least that's what Chrome made sure to convince Mukuro of. If it had been his decision alone all of them would surely have been declared spies.
Hibari also knew this to be true and before Alaude could launch his handcuffs at him, he stopped at the top of the stairs. Getting to Tsuna quicker wasn't worth what it would cost them. Ryohei and Gokudera had no such qualms though and even after they were caught, tried to fight their way out of the hold. Ryohei was just following the other boy's example and was having fun all the while.
G didn't stopped rushing to the infirmary once had had grabbed Gokudera by the waist and pulled him up over his shoulder. It took the silver haired boy a minute or two to realize thing but once he did, e ceased his struggling. It didn't quite matter how he got to Tsuna he supposed, he'd just be bitter about the humiliation later.
They were able to swiftly get to the infirmary, G practically breaking down the door to get to the two skies. It was lucky they had been it there when they did because Tsuna had broken loose from the bed and was approaching Giotto's unconscious form with a scalpel.
Without hesitation G tossed Gokudera over his shoulder and rushed forward.
Realizing there were intruders, Tsuna lunged towards Giotto and brought the scalpel down in the direction of the blonde man's head. He was hoping to drive it through his brain, coating the weapon in dying will flames to give it enough force to do so.
The scalpel just punctured the skin of Primo's forehead when G tackled the brunette from the side. This wasn't the time to be considerate of Tsuna's size. The blade went skidding across the floor, hitting against Gokudera's foot as he ran in. Knuckle was right behind him along with the rest of the guardians.
Tsuna had no intention of going down without a fight though. He was able to wiggle free from under the red haired man due to the distraction of the others entering. Once he was out he swung himself up onto the other man's back, grabbing hold of his hair. G was surprised so the boy was able to slam his head against the floor of the infirmary a few times. Finally getting leverage he pushed himself up and twisted around, forcing Tsuna to let him go.
It was right as those chocolate brown eyes landed on G's face that he was pulled backwards and away from the storm guardian.
Gokudera was the one to yank him off. He grinded his teeth as he spun the tenth around and clocked him in the jaw. Normally that was unthinkable for him, he'd never used violence against Tsuna. They'd never even spared together before. This wasn't the friend he knew though and it had to be done. If there was any chance of figuring out why he was acting this why, he needed to be brought down first.
When Yamamoto broke free of Asari's hold on him and jumped towards them from the doorway, he knew he was right. Asari tried to drag him back but Lampo had arrived along with the other first generation guardians. The green haired teen placed a hand on the Japanese man's shoulder, shaking his head. "Whatever this is they seem to want to deal with it on their own."
Yamamoto came at Tsuna from the side while Gokudera did a full frontal assault. The two of them were able to navigate him away from Giotto and across the room as they exchanged blows.
It was obvious when the brunette finally had enough of this as he took a quick back step and started to activate his Cambio Forma. Just as Hibari's did the original Vongola ring started to morph into Tsuna's Vongola gear. Ryohei, Mukuro, and Chrome jumped in to join them after escaping from their respective guardian's hold on them. Daemon was baffled that they'd had the ability to do so the whole way to the infirmary and didn't even try to flee.
None of them activated their own Cambio Forma as that seemed like it would take the fight into a new level that the mansion wouldn't be able to sustain. Tsuna on the other hand came at them like his whole existence depended on their deaths. They had numbers on their side though and even without their Vongola gear they stood against him.
All of the guardians knew how Tsuna fought, they'd seen his fighting style develop while growing up, some had even fought him seriously, and others had spared with him. There were no secrets in how any of them fought. Mukuro and Hibari were the most unpredictable in that department. The mist guardian had his six paths of hell and the cloud guardian had a habit of going into things without a plan, just with the need to destroy.
Mukuro's abilities were the best bet right now since there was no way that Hibari would attack Tsuna in a killing rage. All they needed was to distract the brunette long enough for Mukuro to land one scrap of his trident across the other boy's skin. It had been a very long time since any of them had witnessed the male mist guardian use that path on anyone.
The Realm of Heavens is not the first thing that will come to Tsuna's mind as he fight them all off.
Slowly, the guardians crept away from each other, spreading themselves out around their sky. If they stayed in one area all the doe eyed boy would have to do is use one X-burner and they'd be finished. With them spread out it wouldn't be practical for their boss to use it.
Gokudera stood in front of him and Ryohei behind. It was the most logical of him to take on either of them and that is what the tenth generation guardians were prepared for. Except they should have known that there was nothing logical to Tsuna right now. He was controlled by the emotions they had no chance of understanding as they were.
Instead of going for either of the obvious choices the brunette threw himself at Yamamoto. "Murderer!" The rain guardian's eyes widened in shock at the attack and the slur. He tried to side step the pouncing child but he was taken to the floor. The other boy howled in rage and instead of using any of his dying will flame moves, he scratched and bite him. It was like being attacked by a wild animal.
There was so much bent up anger that was being released on him and no matter how much he tried to tear Tsuna off of him, the boy wasn't budging. Those chocolate brown eyes glared down at him during the assault, accusing him of things he didn't understand. He only had eyes for Yamamoto, paying no heed to the others.
"You killed him, you killed my tutor! Ernesto! All of you deserve dea-"
Mukuro took advantage of his distraction and brought his trident across the back of Tsuna's neck, scratching him. The effects were nearly immediate. Mukuro's own body froze in place as did the other boy's. Then the brunette grinned down at Yamamoto.
"Never thought I'd be in this position. I do finally possess Tsunayoshi's body though. It truly is wonderful. Now at least that bird isn't the only one to have had it. Kufufu." Hibari stormed forward and raised his tonfa high above his head. Tsuna's body looked up innocently. "Now, you wouldn't do th-"
Yes, Hibari would indeed bash his tonfa onto his head and knock him unconscious. "You aren't the omnivore." Before Mukuro came back to his body he also took the liberty to kick him in the nuts.
As things started to calm, Knuckle made his way to Yamamoto's side to check his injuries. They were mostly superficial but a few of them were deep gashes that had a high risk of infection. The priest went about healing him. That is how they were, Yamamoto being healed and the rest of them watching, when they heard a very annoying voice.
"How could you forget about me and leave me with this creep?!"
The first generation moved aside so that the newcomer could step into the infirmary. Talbot stood behind them, holding Lambo. "This baby is quite talkative." It was as Giotto began to stir that the craftsman lifted up Lambo's hand, showing off his Vongola Ring. "I think we need to talk."
For anyone interested I have a tumblr under the same name that will have sneak peeks and announcements.
