I am still alive... and that's pretty much the most interesting thing about myself, lol. My three cats have more personality than I.

You can call me Dessert Maniac, Vertumn, or Teddy! My writing blog on tumblr is under teddy-tries-writing (it doesn't update often, but that's where my original fiction goes) and my AO3 account is under Vertumn with the same avatar of my cat (the major difference between AO3 and FFN is that I have my She-Ra reboot fics on AO3 only).

Being the type of person that gets easily stuck, I am more than willing to do requests/take prompts for any of the fandoms I've already written; although it's at my discretion whether or not I write it, don't hesitate to ask! Just leave a review or PM (don't worry if it takes me weeks--or months--to reply in either case).

I practically live to read, but writing is a whole different story. If I read less, I might write more, haha. I've attempted to write fan fiction for Eragon and Harry Potter, but I've deleted those stories because I lost interest and never got around to finishing, on top of realizing the writing was deplorable. I've gotten better--a lot better, honestly--but just so you know, the farther back in time you go, the worse my stories are. I'm currently really proud of my "Counting Stars" series and "Mayn't Change the World."

The following is just a collection of thoughts/notes that go with certain stories when I feel like they need a little more clarification than I provided originally.

She knows what it is to lack purpose.

The lack of other things—unconditional stability, benevolent guidance, a happy home—causes damage, but aimlessness... She knows both sides of that equation too well.

But they are children. They have guardians that are not hopelessly incompetent, and they even have a chance for catharsis despite their father's death. Theirs is not an inevitable path.

"Alphabet Soup" -- Senki Sesshou Symphogear GX. Multi-chap.

Oftentimes she'd shuffle into the kitchen in the morning to find Papa sighing over yet another blackened meal. He would puzzle over the large recipe book with the most lost expression ever. Cooking, Papa liked to say, was nothing like the sciences.

Sometimes, however, Papa would let her try her hand at cooking. He would hover over her shoulder, anxious, as she made the most basic of soups. He and Elfnein would gasp in awe when her alphabet soup not only turned out edible but also delicious.

Oftentimes she lies awake at night to replay those moments over and over again in her head.

"Counting Stars" -- Senki Sesshou Symphogear GX. Multi-chap.

Sometimes she sneaks out after everyone's asleep. She finds her way to her favorite tree easily enough, and from there it's just a matter of counting.

Sometimes she keeps counting 'til she goes so high she loses track of her place. Maybe it'd be better to make a thousand cranes so she wouldn't have to start all over. Or, if she lived on asteroid B-612, she could watch sunsets 'til she went blind before she ran out of numbers. Really, there's no end to the things she can count.

Sometimes she thinks numbers are the best thing ever invented (and sometimes they're not).

...This is an experiment in brevity and consistency and a few other things that I mentioned in the first a/n.

...I'm rather worried about its reception in the fandom... It was inspired by a post I saw on tumblr, but my take on the general idea is rather different, so I hope people like it.

...I've broken up "Counting Stars" into a series of stories, with Arc I being the first story, Arc II being "Counting Sheep," Arc III being "Alphabet Soup," and a currently-unwritten "Building Blocks" Arc IV (Carol plus Elfnein). It's easier to see this on AO3, where I can actually do series, but whatever.

"Mayn't Change the World" -- Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Multi-chap.

A better outcome -- an alternate universe in which Homura isn't too messed up and almost everyone is alive. They may not be able to change the world, but they can change themselves and figure out life as best they can, hoping they won't die tomorrow.

[Very slow-moving plot, heavy introspection. Alternating 3rd person close POVs.]

...Because they mayn't be able to change the world but the author certainly can. EDIT: I changed the summary, again.

...The first chapter is incredibly lengthy -- it was actually supposed to be a one-shot, but subsequent chapters will range from drabbles to about 3k [finally getting comfortable with the thought of writing short stuff].

...I'm enjoying writing this, actually. Each chapter has a song that facilitates the process, since god knows I get writer's block all too easily. I usually have a different song for background music, though.

...Chapters mostly focus on certain groupings of characters, like Madoka plus Homura chaps vs Nagisa plus Yuma chaps vs Madoka plus Hitomi chaps, etc. There's only one pairing established, but we've two others that are just beginning; we'll see how it turns out for Mami/Kyouko and Hitomi/Sayaka.

"Coping (Not Really)" -- Puella Magi Madoka Magica. One-shot.

Maladaptive Coping: ways of dealing with stress that do not resolve the stressor. Because Homura can't possibly go through so many failed timelines without losing it. Definition taken from (yeah) the internet.

Can be mostly taken for canon, but fits more with my "The Bodyguard and the Client" (either version, but more especially the rewritten one).

[Warnings: cutting, drug abuse, mild suggestiveness.]

...Yeah... I dunno where this came from. I should say that it could possibly trigger someone. The self-harm/cutting part was mostly exaggeration from personal experience, but I have never abused any substances or gone "Bella," thusly those parts are written with significant creative license and liberal amounts of help from the internet. It might even be too exaggerated but that's retrospect for you. There's no point in changing it now.

"The Bodyguard and the Client" -- Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Multi-chap.

Instead of becoming a goddess, Madoka died. Desperate and losing her sanity, Homura turned back and set a new timeline in motion.

Twelve years later, Kaname Madoka finds herself being stalked by an albino calling himself Kyubey, so she hires a bodyguard, who turns out to be none other than Akemi Homura. All too quickly, the buried past resurfaces as the world falls apart around Homura -- again.

...ON INDEFINITE HAITUS

...A little suspension of disbelief is required, for the psychology is from my own sketchy knowledge and conversations with a friend of mine who's really into that sort of stuff. Also, I have no idea how one goes about getting a bodyguard, much less bodyguard habits. Homura really shouldn't be working solo, but in this case it's a pride thing. The cover picture (which I found on tumblr) is basically how they look like; just replace their white shirts with the color of their eyes -- and Madoka's not a bodyguard, though she looks epic in the picture, lol.

...This is the perfect example of something writing itself. Originally, they were all normal humans and Puella Magi/witches/Incubators did not exist, but then I somehow or other changed lanes and now all my characters are going freaking insane.

...-weeps for a thousand years at the lack of MadoHomu in my multichap- Honestly the whole thing was supposed to be heavy on the MadoHomu... now I don't even know where I'm going.

...I'm really sorry about the lack of updates! D; I've changed the summary to read, "Sporadic updates," so at least you've been warned. I'm not abandoning the story though! [I just need to find a way out of a deus-ex-machina.]

...I have started rewriting and have posted it in Archive of Our Own: Kiyoshi, Bodyguards, and Memories (also on indefinite haitus). Five chapters have been rewritten.

...Note [9/8/15] : "The Bodyguard and the Client" is still giving me a fair bit of trouble, but I've edited all nine chapters to my satisfaction at last and have about 1.5k written for chapter ten. I'm kind of working backwards, I guess, in order to fill in the plot holes that litter the first eight chaps. There's some inconsistency in terms of the information presented in chapter nine versus what Madoka and the others have said, but I think that'll be explained in chapter ten.

...It's getting to be a rather convoluted work that segues into badly written horror/mystery quite a lot more than I had ever intended. I hope to have the next chapter up by the end of this month!

...As a kind reviewer pointed out, chapter ten has some serious retcon at work. I've no idea when chapter eleven will be posted...

The More You Know:

Right now I'm in the middle of a "slump." I'm terribly depressed and haven't been able to get more than a few sentences down for the numerous ideas I have floating around my head.

I have a tendency to slack off in the middle [or beginning or end] of things, and I tend to let myself get really depressed and anxious about everything. My stories suffer because of this, even if originally I had inspiration. Actually, my stories also suffer whenever I read something or watch an anime that inspires new stories, lol.
