It’s a cute little story, but I feel like I’m missing something. Why did the others keep waiting outside if they were on time? Harry and Hermione only got down to it after an hour ‘cos their guests didn’t show up.

I could see Hermione way overthinking things like this. One reason Harry is perfect for her is that he'd be the only one who could get through to her in that state. Ans it feels perfect for post-war Harry. Just wants the quiet life, one day noisied up by a few rampaging children.
