The name of the land that the riders now live on is Alaois. It's pronounced "AL- eesh". It means "famous in war", which I know doesn't suit the island but I thought it sounded cool anyway. :P. Please review my chapters, let me know what you think or any mistakes I make!
Prologue
Arya marched to her rooms in Tialdarí Hall, ignoring the greetings and gestures of respect from the elves as she passed. Dress sweeping and swooshing across the wooden floor, she opened her door and slammed it behind her.
How went the meeting, little one? Asked Fírnen, opening only an eye to look at Arya, for he was napping in his usual place in her quarters.
She swiveled in his direction, dress flaring around her.
I'm going to do it, Fírnen. Just like we discussed. I'm going to relinquish my crown and duty as queen. This is not me. This is not the life I desire and I can't take anymore of it! And, it is not fair for me, a dragon rider, to still represent my race while I should be training new riders alongside Eragon in Alaois. I will inform Lord Däthedr of my leaving and, if he chooses to accept, give him my position as ruler of the elves.
Are you sure this is want you want, Arya? I wouldn't want you t—
Arya cut him off.
Yes, Fírnen, she stated confidently, I am sure this is what I want. Besides, you know my feelings for Eragon have become clearer lately. I long for his presence by my side once again, if only because of our strong friendship.
Okay…Fírnen sighed mentally. Then I support your decision and will not argue. I will miss this place…but not as much as I miss my Saphira.
Arya smiled thoughtfully at him before tearing off her dress and cladding herself in the black leather that she wore while flying and fighting. The leather that sent memories rushing back to her head. Grabbing a sack, she stuffed her belongings into it, including a fairth of her mother and father, a scrying mirror, and a fairth of Eragon. Then, she got Fírnen's saddlebags and packed everything she could, making sure to pack provisions for the trip. After checking around the room for anything she may have left, she told Fírnen to wait in the front for her, said goodbye to her dear home, and set off to tell Lord Däthedr the news.
Däthedr had taken the news with sadness but, as it turns out, he was not surprised. He could tell that being queen was tiring and causing Arya a great deal of stress. He stated that after ruling gracefully and wonderfully for twelve years and for following her heart, the elves would not think badly of her for giving up the throne. He promised that if the counsel chose him to be the next ruler he would be a great and loyal one and would keep the Eldunarí safe from harm. And finally, with much sorrow, they departed and Arya took off on Fírnen to be with Eragon and the rest of the riders in Alaois.
