I know I might start sounding like I'm stalling, but it's true: The battery of my previous laptop, the one you know and loved and I wrote my stories in for two years, was busted, and so was its hard drive. My mum tried to get it to the repair shop, but no dice. The second they shook their heads a "no," tears spilled forth my eyes. In any case, I make do with a new one: ASUS (or ISUS, whichever.) I still couldn't get over my old laptop, which I christened "Terrence," maybe because I did give it a name or something, but not to mention, I had a LOAD of new chapters there, too! That must mean I have to start from scratch, unfortunatley. I am most grieved by the latest chapter of The Portrait of Len Kagamine, for I was SO CLOSE to finishing it when Terrence just shut down on his own.

TEASER: You watch the screen loading the video hesitantly. It played out, with odd sounds coming from the background. It showed an ordinary bedroom, vaguely reminding you of one from your parent's time. It had whatever was present in an average teenager's bedroom, whatever era it may be: Clothes strewn across the floor, magazines abandoned on the bedside, messy as ever. Then a blonde came into view.

"Okay, okay, it's glowing. Is it on now?" The girl in the video said. You were struck by her prettiness, a welcoming air of familiarity around her. She looked really young, around your own daughter's age. "Hey! I'm Rin! We're here, 100 years from the past. If I'm correct, it's 2007 now, and it should be 2107 by the time you're watching this!"

You furrowed your brow: It was 2063, far from 2107. It'd be more or less 50 years until then.

Suddenly the girl brought in another boy, as blond as she was with similar blue eyes. Were these the hair styles years ago? Good Lord, you thought.

"Guys, this is Len! He's my most bestest friend! So-"

"Hey ladies." The boy called Len winked at the camera as Rin faked gagging.

"Yeah whatever pretty boy, we all know you're short. Anyway, since it'd be a bore to study History in your time for a, say, project-"

"Assuming they still authorise school and a meteorite still hasn't landed," said Len.

"And you aren't abducted by aliens or didn't evolve into superhumans yet, I'd-"

"We'd," stressed Rin, glaring at her friend, "make it easier for you to understand the past! And, hopefully..." Rin cheered derisively. "Time travel will exist by then and you'd come back here in our time to reward us with cash!"
