But he didn't know that someone saved his son.

In this universe, humanity has 2 technologies that they failed to get in canon, but should by all rights be there. The 1st is one humanity has the tech to make RIGHT NOW! The second is the realization that if there are a set of circumstances to make a substance, then you can replicate those circumstances.
