And it's canon! Thank you Epilogue and The Last: Naruto the Movie) Yu-Gi-Oh: Yugi and Anzu (Tea in the English dub, but I prefer Anzu). I'm also interested in Anzu/Atem (Yami Yugi) and Anzu/Kaiba too. Love Hina: Keitaro and Shinobu (that is, if she's older, of course) Negima: Negi and Nodoka. Zero no Tsukaima: Saito and anyone who is not Louise. Most preferable, Saito and Henrietta, or Saito and Siesta. Shakugan no Shana: Yuji and Kazumi. I have no problems with Shana, since she's a likable tsundere and a badass, but I just love Kazumi's development as a character, and being a nice girl all around. Evangelion: Shinji and Rei. I know Rei is a clone of Shinji's mother, but you have to admit, they go well together, don't they? One Piece: Luffy and Nami. Ben 10: Ben and Julie. Kingdom Hearts: Sora and Kairi. Obvious from the start, anyway. Persona 3: Main Hero and Fuuka. I feel Fuuka melds well with Persona 3's hero. Plus she's my favorite girl from the game. Persona 4: Yu and Ayane, because it's cute. Nothing more or less. I also like Yu and Naoto. Persona 5: Joker and Makoto. Also, Joker & Haru. Tales of Vesperia: Yuri and Estelle. Devil Survivor 1 & 2: Main Hero and Yuzu, and Hibiki/Hiro and Io. Yaoi couples: Baka and Test: Akihisa and Hideyoshi. Just take a look at Romance Between Friends for proof. Tales of the Abyss: Luke and Ion. I feel like they compliment each other very well. Assassination Classroom: Nagisa and Karma. Yuri couples: Neptunia series: Neptune and Blanc. It's just so cute. Crossover Couple Kingdom Hearts and Fairy Tail: Sora and Erza. I know I said I like Sora and Kairi, but a buddy of mine got me interested in it, too. Ranma 1/2 and Sailor Moon: Ranma and Ami. Since I began reading No Chance for Fate, it peaked my interest. With the exception of a few, I don't have a problem with Ranma's canon love interests. Dislikes Favorite Characters who are hated for the following reasons: One, they get in the way of either a canon pairing or a fan-preferred couple. Even though they don't catch the protagonist or any other character's attention, that doesn't mean you have to hate and criticize them for it like the plague just because they like that certain character. This aggravates me the most! This perfectly likable character takes heat from the fandom for being an obstacle to their preferred couple, is irritating to no end. I get that they don't really like the character being paired with the protagonist or another character, but you don't need to hate them because they are possibly viable. Two, they are viewed as dumb or useless. No they aren't. Okay sure, sometimes, they may not be that smart at the beginning, but they eventually grow out of it as the story progress. It's called character development, go look it up people! Three, the characters are hated because the fandom hates them, or for absolutely no reason at all. If they hate them because of the fandom's hatred for them influenced their way of thinking, that just proved how weak willed and indecisive they really are. For those who hate on these characters for no reason at all; you are immature and irrational. Four, half the people who hate these character are Yaoi fans, or Yaoi fan girls, and don't like their favorite male character being parried with that female character. Most, if not all of those Yaoi pairing never actually happen in canon, and if they don't, just write some Yaoi fan fiction or something, just don't drag on and on about how much you hate the female character, and if you do, don't do anything utterly pointless, like kill them us, or break their hearts in the most cold hearted fashion possible. I have no problem with Yaoi, but please, don't act like it's the end of the world. In fact, if you don't see a couple in particular in anime or any other form of media, feel free to write a fanfic about one you prefer and keep it as tamed as possible, and don't use it as an excuse to make immature rags about hating a character. That's immaturity at its finest. Bashing Favorite Pairings I don't like people who bash another person's favorite or preferred couples. I can tolerate them to an extent, but if they're going to be nasty, they've earned a not so pleasant response. Complaints about my stories Unless it's constructive criticism, please don't rag on my stories about the bad points and such. Characters from Anime, Games, and Cartoons Anime Tsundere who are not created properly. There are lines between likable, tolerable, and absolutely unlikable. The likable part of the line is where she acts harsh and bossy towards her love interest, sometimes, but is more or less confused about her feelings, and deep down, she really cares about her love interest, and it ventures towards cute levels, and eventually lightens up. Tolerable is more or less the same as likable, but she a little more harsh and hardy, going for a little bit of insulting or physical assault, and she eventually mellows out. Unlikable, and therefore downright hateful, is a girl who is best known for mostly beating the crap out of and acting like a complete bitch to her love interest. Yet somehow, the protagonist is still drawn to this distasteful girl, while there are nicer girls waiting for him. Most prominent characters who rank high on the absolutely unlikable line are Louise from Zero no Tsukaima and Minami of Baka and Test. I don't care how much development they go through in their respective series, and even if they have some cute moments with their love interest, I still don't like them one bit. Though, in Zero & Prime, I'm planning to redeeming Louise. I also don't care much for Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion. She's part of the tolerable line, since she has a backstory and reason for her haughty personality, but I just prefer Rei over Asuka. Going by my Dearest Mother fanfic, you'd think I'd really hate her. Emperor Pilaf from Dragon Ball. Sure, he's the first major villain in the plot and he has his funny moments, but I just find him annoying if anything. But, his recent appearance in Dragon Ball Super, where he has some genuinely nice moments with Shu and Mai, has toned down some of my annoyance with him. Now that he and gang have turned over a new leaf and are friends with the heroes, I genuinely like him now. From One Piece, the Fake Straw Hats. It's pretty clear that they're all cowardly and stupid for impersonating the real Straw Hats, especially the Fake Luffy, real name Demaro Black. Seriously, what part of him resembles Luffy other than his clothes? In fact, how did people actually believe his bullcrap about being our lovable idiot Luffy? Did they not look at the wanted posters? Sure, Sentomaru sent him packing, but it'd be even more satisfying to see Luffy deck him for using his name, other than using Haki on him. Games Walker Sloan from Spider-Man: Edge of Time. He started the events of the game, and he instantly earned my hate when he made Anti-Venom try to kill both Spider-Men, particularly Amazing Spider-Man. Count Veger of Jak and Daxter. He's a hypocrite on the highest level, thinks he's the Precursor's gift to the world, and causes a lot of suffering to a lot of characters, especially Jak. He got his just deserts when he was turned into an osstel. Grand Maestro Mohs from Tales of the Abyss. From the Tales series, we have characters we absolutely love, and absolutely hate. Mohs falls on the hate category, among others. He's given people to plenty of reason to hate him, but the biggest offense is the moment he killed Ion, and that's where I hoped the party would kill him sooner rather than later, lest I jumped in the game and do it myself. Alexei from Tales of Vesperia is my second hated character from the Tales series, for torturing Estelle. From Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni, Mana Inagawa generates mixed feelings for me, but it's mostly dislike. Cartoons Ed Edd n Eddy: Kevin and Sarah. Nothing else need be said, right? We know these characters, right? We've forced to grow up with them punishing or bullying the Eds, right? Good. And there's Jimmy. I didn't think anything of him besides being a wimp, a crybaby, and having no amount of masculinity to speak of, but when the episode where he framed the Eds rolled around, I just knew I wouldn't grow to like him. The moment he slipped on the banana peel at the end of the episode and he returned to being a wimp, I smirked really wide. And then there's the "final" episode of the series, where he leaves the Eds in an ice prison after deeming them a threat to safety. Of course, I do hope they learned their lesson in the Big Picture Show movie finale. Total Drama: There's very few characters I love to hate in the Total Drama series. Of those few being Heather and Mike, the former for being a bitch, and the latter for a useless (and considered insulting by many) subplot involving a split personality disorder. The character I hate the most is Sugar from the latest season, Total Drama Pahkitew Island. Reasons being, she's annoying, stupid, unattractive, rarely does anything useful, has a bad attitude, and blatantly picking on one of my favorite characters from that season, Ella. Her worse offense is ratting Ella out to Chris for breaking the "no singing or your kicked off the island" rule. The fact she lasted until the second to last episode irks me. Not even her getting blasted off the island made me feel happy. I often try not to look at her too much when I watch an episode. I also don't like Topher much, or Amy for that matter, but Sugar earns the most hate from me, and quite a lot of other like minded people too. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: Bloo. Sometimes I found him funny, but most of the time, I find myself extremely annoyed by him. He's always doing something stupid and is a selfish jerk, and he only got worse as the show went on. He had a decent personality in the pilot movie, but the creators suddenly made an idiotic ass out of him. There were a lot of moments with Bloo that made me hate him quite a bit. My least favorite Bloo moment was in the episode "Eddie Monster", where he insults Eduardo and his cowardice (who, to be fair, was pretty much whining throughout most of the episode), which causes him to run away from Foster's and become a Extreme-a-saur fighter at the junkyard. While everyone else had a hand in making him run away in the first place, they feel genuinely terrible about it and try to fix it, meanwhile, Bloo never apologizes for his insults to Ed nor does he even care that he was gone. Even after Ed saved him and the rest of the gang, he has the gall to say he never doubted him, which is a blatant lie, and no one even calls him out on his behavior throughout this painful episode. Bloo is just a selfish and mean spirited character, whose antics only serve to annoy the viewers who hate him as much as I do. I'm sure even Mac wonders why he keeps this annoying piece of crap around as his friend. At least he gets his comeuppance every so often. Billy & Mandy: Mindy. When she first appeared she had some depth, having a backstory with Mandy, and their rivalry sparked when Mandy rejects her. Mindy decided to take Mandy's friends away in revenge for that rejection. However, her characterization gets lost as the series progressed and now she's just an annoying, whiny, spoiled, one note twit with a shrill voice, whose only traits are caring about being pretty & popular, trying showing up Mandy at every possible turn, and her dislike for anyone she considers to be losers, which is just about everyone around her. If you ask me, she's the real loser, as Pandora so righteously put it. Cartoons I'm not interested in or don't watch all together Almost anything from Cartoon Network nowadays. CN had a lot of awesome cartoons, but somewhere around 2010 or so, they lost their touch. Now, there are these stupid and idiotic cartoons shows. The one of the worst being Ben 10: Omniverse. They turned Ben into an idiot, Kevin into a semi-sociopath, made Gwen look more like a nerd (no offense to anyone nerd-ish out there) when they were all perfectly fine in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. Not to mention the pointless redesigning of the entire show. Their worst offense was booting Julie off the show. How she and Ben breaks up irks me to no end, because once again, he's been turned into an idiot! The new reboot Ben 10 series is also, for lack of a better word, unappealing to me. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012. I like the 2003 and 1987 series' more, and I'm just not interested in the 2012 series. Matter of preference really. I have seen some episodes, but not an enough to keep me interested. Other factors Media with no comedy and is too dramatic. I'm a comedy guy, and if there are funny moments, I will watch. No comedy, no go! Antagonists, or at least a group of antagonists who aren't that impressive, or are simply annoying. How one goes about creating them depends on the creator. Between personality and motivation, some don't really measure up, and just become a nuisance. Some story plots in a particular series that are simply terrible, especially the ending. Example: Baka and Test: The Summoned Being Season 2, the Studying Camp Arc, Episode 5 to 7. It was just a mess of idiocy from start to finish. Akihisa gets blackmailed with photos from the school festival (he was crossdressing to get back at the jerk students that were trying to ruin their business), while Yuuji gets wiretapped (during the tournament event). To find the culprit behind both cases during the study camp, they decide to rush into the baths because the culprit is a girl with a burn mark on her butt, while they're bathing. They try this a number times, and each time just drags on as they rope more guys into it, just so they could get passed the teachers guarding the baths and pretty soon, some of the girls get involved in this ridiculous war, and it ends with the guys walking in on the principle bathing. The whole painfully stupid incident could have been averted if Aki and Yuuji just talked a teacher about this issue, or at least get some help from the Mizuki and Minami (Shouko was obviously no help, because she was in on the wiretapping), but no, so much time was devoted to making the guys irredeemably stupider than no normal, and turning the girls into evil bitches, who unjustly punishes them. Most of the girls were already getting hate for their treated of the boys, but season 2, with this arc, and the proceeding arc which adds unnecessary drama to comedy series, made it worse in my opinion. |
