I went in uncertain if I'd like this and have come out absolutely loving it. Now, Dragon Ball Z is fucking amazing. I've said it countless times, DBZ is responsible for getting me into anime in the first place thanks to Toonami. That being said: Dragon Ball's my favorite installment in the series. The comedy in the series was great, the plot and Goku's progression were very fluid, very impressive and the fights never failed to be anything but absolutely fantastic. I can't think of a single one I disliked (not that there were many in DBZ that I disliked in comparison) and the focus on their particular version of martial arts was great.

So getting to discover that THAT was the main crossover here was amazing. I don't know if I'd say it's the most well-written story I've ever read, but it's extremely fun. It captures a very Dragon Ball look on Saiyans rather than a DBZ one and that's really cool, plus I enjoy the implications of the Izuku/Gine pairing - Izuku's not exactly Goku so it stands to reason the future might have a Midoriya Goku who could wind up a bit like Gohan.

Or maybe I'm putting too much thought into it. I still like the idea though and I'm really digging Gine here. A fun take that I was not expecting, which is made all the better for it. I also like her infatuation with Izuku's kindness, the person he is over his body (even if she does dig it). I don't quite understand the need to give her a larger chest, just seems like a wholly unnecessary vanity thing but I've also largely ignored that. Overall though she's been a very fun character and I'm looking forward to see her develop more over time, see what kind of fighter she is as well.

Izuku's also great, pretty much perfectly in-character with some really good additions to make him similar to Goku, yet ultimately remain his own person with just a hint of that Saiyan personality that Gine fears. Probably a good thing that this Izuku won't be going Super Saiyan in this story since it usually seems to bring out the Saiyan aspects. I like that he has a tail, I like that he's capable of the Zenkai boost, I'm super curious if this Izuku can turn into an Oozaru and so far his fighting style's been great and I can't wait to see more of it. If you're gonna do any named attacks in his martial arts, in his Ki. Just a good time all around, especially with Inko getting in on it too and the overall dynamic Izuku has with Roshi, his school and his house. Both nostalgic and badass.

I also appreciate the hell out of Katsumi getting told off, if for no other reason than it's great to see Izuku stick up for himself. Now if only he did more of that in school (by the way, looking forward to the Sports Festival as well. Be a nice time to put an end to the shit they're putting him through, maybe leave them behind since he's so much more powerful than them), since that "Useless Pervert" shit is getting real old. I mean way to judge, assholes. No wonder Ojiro hasn't said anything in Izuku's defense since the beligerent jackasses would attack him too over a part of his anatomy.

It's just a damn good story. I love the World Martial Arts Tournament being a thing, the addition of Ranma 1/2 characters is terrific and makes for a lot more fun and I really, really love that Demon King Piccolo seems to be the big bad. Just an awesome read from start to finish and I genuinely cannot wait for the next chapter. Promises to be awesome.
