I was on Google Images, exploring the very thing that was the internet, when I clicked on an Ino Yamanaka (from Naruto). It was linked to a website with a bunch of text that was like a story from Naruto (which I later found it was a fanfic), I read it because I thought it was some extra story from the Naruto series except that there were characters I've never seen from the show in there (which were basically someone's OCs). Then I just clicked through more Naruto fanart, read everything I found that was linked from the website, followed that website link, and went down a deep rabbit hole into a world known as Fanfiction. After I realized that this was all called fanfiction, I kept reading more and more until I decided to make my own because I was inspired. The website no longer exists but it was known as Quizilla and it was one of the best places I have ever known with a decent interface, messaging system, profile interface, and opportunities to interact with readers. (The only thing missing was a comments section and maybe a better way to organize different fics.) My first completed fanfic was a Naruto story that I eventually later deleted because no one was reading it. Then I tried again and my second completed fanfic was a Prince of Tennis story fic that was OC x Ryoma Echizen. The best and my most favorite fandom I have ever written fanfiction for was Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (KHR). I met the best people in this fandom and had a lot more fun with the characters from this series. I also had a lot more success with my writing in this fandom than anything else. Second best fandom I wrote fanfiction for was Attack on Titan. I enjoyed the characters from this series the most and had a lot more fun writing about them. I believe it is ABSOLUTELY important that readers are able to separate fiction from reality. In other words, be immersed in the fiction but remember that it does not completely reflect perspectives and views from real life. Writing a mystery murder story does not mean an author enjoys murder. Reading a mystery murder story does not directly mean a reader would want to murder in real life. -- Consciously read fiction to learn and understand a lesson or a moral; let yourself be entertained at the same time; but at the same time as you take in the story, have enough space and distance from the fiction that will allow you to be able to distinguish between fiction and reality. -- Finally, I mostly prefer to right in Third POV than First. |
