Completed works are cross-posted on AO3 (Archive of Our Own) under Fox_The_Reaper, along with one story that is only posted there, if you're interested. Also: All constructive criticism is welcomed and much appreciated. Even if you don't like my work, if you write something thoughtful down I will be happy to discuss it with you. I'm afraid I tend to forget to reply to reviews otherwise. . Flame at your own peril. Quotes My sister: -Flipping me off- "You gettin' all this?" Sis aka The Stray Bullet: "Go find the stone with the rock in it!" The Stray Bullet: "I CAN SEE YOUR MIND-THOUGHTS!" (Just goes to show that trying to say three things at once does not make you simply talk faster.) The Stray Bullet: "I'm not a bird, I just like flipping you one." The Stray Bullet: "If it was between me and a spiffy sword, she would choose the sword." Dad: "If it was between you and a plastic sword, she'd choose the sword." The Stray Bullet: "You have it with me? I want to see it." The Stray Bullet: "I'm painting my room organge this summer!...er...orange..." Church off of RvB: "That's right. I'm a gay robot." Donut off of RvB: "It's not pink, its lightish red." Eric off of That 70's Show:"Life is like a train, sooner or later, it's gonna hit ya. So you can start running while it's far off in the distance, or you can pull up a chair, crack a beer, and watch it comin at ya." The Stray Bullet in her history class: "That's a hysterical fact!" (She said this during a speech... people laughed; it was great!) My friend aka The Cheetah: "She popped out of nowhere from under my bed!" My friend aka Teddy: "My dad got mad at me 'cause I took a bite of his ding-dong... I mean the candy!" The Stray Bullet: "My hell is bedless! I mean my head is bell-less!" She tried again later: "My bed is headless! Damn it! MY HEAD IS FREAKN' BELL-LESS!" The Stray Bullet: "Damn it! Saito CAN NOT be EVERYWHERE! WHAT THE HELL?" The Stray Bullet: "She has a big axe!" (If you don't understand, just say it out loud a couple of times and you'll get it.) The Stray Bullet: "I was inside doing what sane people do; making fun of you. Online. With my friends." The Stray Bullet:-bangs into wall- "Hey! Who put that wall there?" (I cannot believe she actually said that.) The Stray Bullet: "I put my brain in a box for the summer. Hopefully it will prevent corrosion." -five minutes later- "I lost the box..." Dude from Iron Chef America: "...And the chairman is enjoying a kumquat in his sneaky, chairman-like ways." Alex from Ark Angel: "I was going fast, until I hit the fence." The Stray Bullet (While we were Trick-or-Treating yes we still Trick-or-Treat): "Happy Christmas!" (My sister was typing 'The Stray Bullet' for me and she typed 'The Stay Bullet' four times. Then she typed 'The Starry Bullet'. -_-' Note from The Stray Bullet: I was having an off day... LEAVE ME ALONE! -cries- Okay I think I'm better now... even though I tried to type crys... -sniffle- ... End Note.) I'll add more quotes later. Also, my sister has stupid stuff that I said, not just me having what she said, so here is her account: http://www.fanfiction.ws/u/1036042/ Please visit my friends' account on here as well: http://www.fanfiction.ws/u/696482/ and http://www.fanfiction.ws/u/1102648/ Fanfiction Pet Peeves Just a general shout out to all you cat story fans -- Big cats CANNOT purr for the SAME REASON that little cats CANNOT roar. It is physically impossible for them to do so. Wrong type of voice box. This mistake drives me nuts. ALSO cow's milk is bad for adult animals. Milk that doesn't come specifically from a mother of the same species will KILL young animals. The cats-and-cream thing disturbs me, because the least that would do is actually make a cat ill. Not happy. Crossovers where the main character from one fandom replaces the main character from another. I love crossovers. I even love these kinds of crossovers. What I hate is when the new main character does the exact same things in the primary plot as the original one does, in the exact same way. If I wanna read the original story, I'm gonna go read the original story. Switching the name and appearance of the main character does not an original fanfiction make. Comedic violence. When people draw curves by hand/eye, they have a tendency to overcompensate, making the curve more dramatic. In the same manner, I've seen so, so many fanfictions raise a manga's comedic violence to ridiculous proportions. A character that makes use of comedic violence suddenly does nothing but scream, hurl abuse, and be generally unreasonable. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anybody thinks that's good sense or even mildly amusing. It stops being comedic violence and just becomes abuse at a certain point, people. For Naruto and Harry Potter. Because of Reasons. Naruto's parents survive but are suddenly neglectful assholes. Godlike Naruto. Harry's parents survive but are suddenly neglectful assholes. Godlike Harry. ...anyone sensing a theme here? In all seriousness though, twisting good characters into villains or just stupid, cruel people with no redeeming qualities is just sloppy writing with a heaping serving of gratuitous character whump. In both HP and Naruto, this is solely to make the characters' childhoods somehow exactly like they were in canon, if not worse. Only with parents and sometimes siblings whom are invariably OOC assholes (essentially terribly written OC's that share names and physical features with actual characters). I have no idea how people read these things. Same with Godlike characters. Characters need problems to overcome. That is the very basis of a plot. If they curbstomp everything... you've got no plot. Lame. A parody for humorous purposes is one thing, but any attempts to treat this seriously are just not worth the time they take to read, let alone write. For Avengers Woobie anyone. Pity the poor fool whose every mistake has an excuse, every fault suddenly vanishes, and whose whole life was just so truly terrible and all the other protagonists are making it worse because they're actual characters with actual flaws and so therefore must be antagonists in disguise! I despise this horrendous "tragically misunderstood" bullshit. It shows exactly how little the authors understand the characters they're attempting to write. The main character is treated so badly that it's actually funny how unrealistic it is until you realize the author is not, in fact, writing a parody. Everyone else are just jackasses without any sense whatsoever (the "tragic misunderstandings" are contrived to the point of physical pain). This is just so prevalent in Loki and Tony Stark fanfiction, and the way those authors write those characters is out and out disrespectful to the fandom and especially to the original writing. I am so incredibly sick of encountering what are basically OOC villains masquerading as the rest of the Avengers. For Bleach I love Academy fics. I really do. Sadly, most of them make zero sense. Why on earth would an entrance exam require you to already know the things the school is going to teach you? All but like two Academy fics with the entrance exam included make the poor wannabe students have to know like 30's level kido when the poor Rukongai brats could not have feasibly learned it yet. Shikai. Same deal. For some reason every average-joe random shinigami student somehow learns or is required to learn shikai in like their 1st or 2nd year. Then suddenly kick butt at seated officer level in chapter three. We see the best of the best in Bleach -- captains and lieutenants. Not everyone is, can, or will be that good, especially not during their academy years, while they are still learning how to do everything. Please keep that in mind. (I also remember it being said that some shinigami never learn the names of their zanpakuto -- how's that possible, if it's a requirement to graduate?) Kido. So you wanna have your massively overpowered main character (Go Ichigo, I love you!) learn kido. Okay. But he has zero control, so what do you do? Start him at level 90 kido! Umm. Let's compare for a sec; Hado no Ichi, Sho. Pushes people away with reiatsu. Hado no Kyuujuu, Kurohitsugi. Creates a massive black coffin with spears that pierce through it. Does it take more or less control to A) shove people with energy or B) manipulate energy to build a big box and a dozen spears that you then further manipulate to stab said box and people? Just something to think about. For How to Train Your Dragon The creation of insert-element-here-Fury dragons. No, your Light/Wind/Water/Whatever Fury is not actually an original dragon. Giving a wannabe Toothless a new color and element is not at all creative. Please, for the love of originality, creativity, and all that is good in fiction, STOP. You have imagination, please use it. My guilty pleasure - characters watching the movie. But most of the stories are... well. A) You don't actually have to type out the script word for word. Not only is that plagiarism, but we all know what happened thank you. We don't need a blow-by-blow for something we've all seen. Try using some of your own interpretations of the scenes. Summarize. Do something a little bit creative. Please. B) What's with the mary-sue-self-insert-teenage-girl - that supposedly comes from the modern world yet mysteriously has magical powers to separate the dragons from the vikings and teleport them everywhere? That randomly inserts herself into the story to yell at the vikings, mostly Stoick? Gross. I applaud those few authors that used unobtrusive enchantresses or Norse gods, actually bothering to work out a vaguely feasible way for it to happen. And C) Yes the vikings all gasped, the dragons all roared, and Stoick's face has gone purple in anger -- said practically every character watches the movie story ever. There has been only one story that I've read that has had true, in-depth thoughts, reactions, and emotions from the characters that matter. The rest all seem to use shallow they-all-did-this, they-all-did-that reactions. Boring. Deriding the vikings for not using stone as a building material more often. First, I'm not convinced Berk could have supported a quarry, or had the right type of stone. Transporting stone is tedious work, especially that long ago. By longboat? Nuh-uh. Second, crafting and building with stone is significantly more difficult than wood, and takes tons more time. They likely wouldn't have had the time between raids to construct stone houses, even if they had access to all the materials necessary. They would have needed to make things quickly so the residents of those homes would have places to sleep in the winter. There's only so much room elsewhere, after all, and it builds up. The utterly shallow way many authors interpret Hiccup and Berk's relationship, and Berk's relationship with the dragons. Important note here: I am in no way condoning how they treated Hiccup - you don't treat children, or indeed anyone, like that. It's not okay. HOWEVER - the vikings are not the villains in HTTYD. The ONLY villain in the first movie is the Red (or Green, whatever) Death. And Hiccup is certainly no saint. A lot of fanfiction writers like to portray the village as half a step from evil for killing dragons, while Hiccup is some kind of... pure, for lack of a better term, character. Anyone who thinks that lowly of the vikings, I ask you to consider a few things: 1. They've been at war for centuries. Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons have been killed by dragons, limbs have been torn off by dragons, important resources constantly destroyed and stolen by dragons for 300 years. Now, no matter how battle-hardened, the vikings were not emotionless. How easy would it be for you to set aside all of that destruction to sympathize with the enemy? Let alone an enemy that (for all the vikings knew) attacked and stole for no reason. Could you? 2. The vikings had every right to defend their home. Seriously, re-watch the raid scene. This moment in particular stuck in my mind: A zippleback sticks its heads in a house and blows it up. What might have been in that house? Were there children too young to help in the raid hiding in there? As a movie acceptable for younger audiences, we don't see that sort of violence on screen. But you can bet that a large number of vikings were burnt to death. A very painful and terrifying way to go. And, on another note, replacing food stores was in no way an easy task back then. Sheep do not just spawn full-grown at random. Fishing, breeding, and gardening take lots of time, and are not particularly feasible during the winter months. Same with rebuilding houses. 3. Hiccup had obviously not been through dragon training when he went out there to kill dragons. I repeat, I in no way condone treating anyone like the village treated Hiccup. However, there is a reason the military has a clear chain of command, and training for its soldiers besides. The teens had their jobs and they did them - except for Hiccup, who was so desperate to prove himself that he didn't work out all the kinks in his machines before putting them to use, and accidentally got in the way during raids - which he had not had the proper training to participate in. He cost them large amounts of food, property damage, and captured enemies. With the best of intentions, mind you. But he certainly made mistakes; there is no denying that. His dad had a right to be angry - NOT to take that anger out on Hiccup, or to ignore him or insult him - but yes, he had every reason to be angry. ...if you read all of that I applaud you. Sorry, but sometimes I just feel the need to vent. Stories & Progress All stories are beta read by my sister: Someone Really Special. This is her formal thank you! (Just in case I forget to add it to the chapter... like I did in Final Goodbyes.) There may or may not (though there probably will) be spoilers for anything I write about, up to the most current update/chapter/book/episode/movie. I WON'T warn people about spoilers except for at top of the first chapter, so if you aren't up to date on whatever I happen to be writing about, you might not want to read it. Completed Crossovers: BleachxHP: Amanita Citrina BleachxNaruto: Schemer's Truth CMxYGO: Of Spencer and Spirits CMxWC: Color of the Business, Paint Me a Portrait, Kiss and Tell, Coffee Run, Shades of Grey ChuckxWC: Ebb and Flow, Phoenix, Turning Eyes DGMxYGO: Win or Lose SG1xHighlander: Lives Apart SPNxAvengers: 5 Times Cas Helped Steve, Castle in the Sky Normal: Bleach: At the Grave You Call Your Own, See You Beside Me, Bunny, Touch Upon the Ground You Walk Criminal Minds: By Any Other Name Harry Potter: Ronald Weasley and the Door of Talking Snakes Inuyasha: Ode to Your Death Naruto: I That Know Today, for I am Here Tomorrow (Taken down from fanfiction - pity, since it's a personal favorite - cross-posted on AO3 under Fox_the_Reaper) Rurouni Kenshin: Final Goodbyes White Collar: Drawing Lines, Flip Side, Say It With a Smile Yu-Gi-Oh!: King of Games, Pot of Greed, Light of Intervention, Jar of Greed, Lady of Faith, Change of Heart In Progress Beyond the Grave - HPxBleach crossover, Chapter 12 complete, Chapter 13 in progress Past Reflections - HPxNaruto crossover, Chapter 11 complete, Chapter 12 in progress On Hold or Being Revised Claw&Fang - This is being completely rewritten. I have the prologue and first chapter mostly finished, but I'm not sure when I'll post this, if ever. Winter Moon - This is a fic on what it would be like if the Kenshin-gumi were wolves. It has an alternate pairing. (My favorite alternate pairing BTW) KenshinxMisao. (I'm also adding the infamous AoshixKaoru pairing.) On hold because I want to work on other things, plus, looking back, I really, really want to revise it. Deleted Stories Autumn Moon - This was just another version of Winter Moon. If I have any requests to do so, I might put it back up. I’m sorry if I disappointed anyone, but I couldn’t – and still can’t - see this one going anywhere. It was KxK. Cold Winds - It's sort of the past and future mixed. Kenshin is brought from the past to save the future. He manages to find a way back, but with him comes new abilities and new enemies. May be rewritten in the future, though it is doubtful. Dark Waters - HP/RK crossover. Kenshin goes missing for a few years, and comes back. What his friends don't know is that he's now the second most infamous dark wizard... and an assassin. May be rewritten in the future, though it is doubtful. Demon Song - A high-school fic. Totally unoriginal idea, but I love high-school fics to death. It wouldn't do for me to not write one. I may or may not continue this. May be rewritten in the future, though it is doubtful. Note: I refuse to leave people hanging while I don't work on these at all. The other stories I have up I actually want to finish at some point, but for these, I just don't care. All of my deleted stories can also be counted as challenges. If you want to take one, please do, and let me know so I can read it. Concept Shots Okay, I have given in and posted a few concept shots. By this I mean they are more concept than complete story; I'm sure a lot of you have read a few. Thing is, I got a review asking if he/she could continue one of them; sadly I have no way to reply. In any case, the answer is a resounding YES. If you want to take or continue a concept of mine that I have no intention of developing, by all means, please do. (And let me know, so I can take a peek.) I don't often have as much time or determination as I would like to write, so anyone wanting to use any of the ideas I just can't get onto paper, so to speak, is more than welcome. Sorry for being so long-winded there. If you want to know which stories I consider concept shots, they are: The Last of All, Schemer's Truth, See You Beside Me, or any one of my Yu-Gi-Oh! drabbles (Change of Heart, Jar of Greed, King of Games, Lady of Faith, Light of Intervention, Pot of Greed). OTPs Takari. (Takeru/Hikari from Digimon 01 and 02) So cute! I have nothing against Daikari or Daikeru/Takesuke either, but Takari is my favorite. :) Takeyako is fun too! Link/Midna and Link/Zelda. (LOZ TP and BOTW) Because cutscenes. Also, two of my favorite games ever. Kirito/Asuna. (Kirigaya Kazuto and Yuki Asuna from Sword Art Online) Adorable couple! And canon! Hijack/Frostcup. (Hiccup from HTTYD and Jack from ROTG) ROTBTD forever!!! Mikaela/Yuichiro. (Seraph of the End) I have an unreasonable adoration for this manga. Destiel. (Castiel/Dean from Supernatural) Yes, I did jump on that bandwagon. Minato/Kushina. (from Naruto) Tododeku. (Hero Academia) I am so gone on this fandom. Ten/Jack. (Doctor Who) Though I actually prefer to stay away from romance in Doctor Who. Eleven/River. (Doctor Who) Yep. They grew on me. Newt/Tina. (Fantastic Beasts) XD Can't wait to see this develop more in the next films. Which... are still years away. *pouts* Ura/Ichi. (Kurosaki Ichigo and Urahara Kisuke from Bleach) Fun, though again, romance in Bleach is usually not my thing. Stucky or Starbucks. (Avengers - Steve and Bucky) The whole best-friends-MUST-be-having-sex thing usually annoys me, but they are stupidly cute together. I will read almost any pairing though. Never understood shipping wars, who even cares? They're all awesome in different ways. BROTPs NICK/JUDY (Zootopia) are the ultimate BROTP and no one will ever convince me otherwise! Reborn/Urahara (KHR and Bleach) would absolutely be a match made in hell. Minato/Yin!Kurama (Naruto) I need more of this in my life. Much, much more. |
