Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter. It’s been a long time since I updated this thing. I think I thought that if I changed it, I’d have to update DA (Dark Angel). Anyways, anyone who has read the latest ‘chapter’ of DA knows that I’m doing a rewrite, titled Understanding Backwards. Anyone new should note that Understanding Backwards is the only fic I have worth reading. I am, like the vast majority of fanfic authors out there, a teenage girl. My favorite types of fanfiction are Salazar!Harry fics and ones where the hero goes back in time. I like it when the main character is in control of the situation, so I have to admit that I don’t mind minor Gary Stu-ishness in the main character’s behavior. I love character interaction of the variety “throw random people together and see how they react” so I also like a lot of random crossovers (if they’re well written). However, Harry Potter crossovers are a cliché of their own so unless they’re somehow original, I don’t like them as much. I generally don’t like romance of any kind, though I prefer slash slightly over het (having been into fanfiction long enough, I’ve seen my fair share of Mary Sues and I admit that’s given me a slight dislike to female characters. I noticed this a year ago and I’m almost over it). I have read some I like and I admit that well written ones have some pretty awesome character interaction. Still, I’d take a good action fic over romance any day. And I like mysteries, though you don’t see that much of them in fanfiction. If I went to Hogwarts, I’d probably be put in Ravenclaw. I’d be the Ravenclaw with the worst grades, though. I love books on mythology; my favorite mythological creature is the Kitsune. Apart from that, I read books and manga of the genres mystery and/or fantasy. With my return to writing Harry Potter fanfiction, my four muses have been reborn. Salazar Slytherin is the negative little sarcastic voice, Rowena Ravenclaw nags at me to do my homework, Godric Gryffindor tells me to procrastinate (what that has to do with being brave, I have no idea), and Helga Hufflepuff is on the side of my readers (encourages me to write and give my readers spoilers; also spends way too much time trying to pair up my characters). Also, Salazar’s been making my fics kinda angsty but my muses have ganged up on him and (thankfully) forced my fics to take a lighter tone. Sal and R’ena are the ones that have been blocking me from writing DA. Blame them. All characters I’ve read or written about have minor muses but they don’t show up very often. And then there’s my muse, Nephy, who’s a bxxxx. Don’t ask. After I finish Understanding Backwards, I fully intend to disappear. I don’t think I’ll be writing any more for the Harry Potter fandom and I’d be…embarrassed…to write other stuff. I’ll switch to another account or something. And I promise, just this once, I’ll finish what I started. I will finish Understanding Backwards. I just don’t promise not to disappear a couple times before completion. Anyways, I’d like to think that I’ve grown up since I first started writing fanfiction. I’d better have; it’s been four years. Thanks for reading. |
