Author has written 16 stories for Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Star Wars, and Final Fantasy VII. 15 July 2008: The person who will adopt this plotbunny and write me this fic so I don't have to will win my eternal love. Any takers? For no particular reason whatsoever except to indulge my inner geek, I want an Iron Man/ Stargate crossover. I want to see brains working on a engineering problem, which means it's probably in SG-1 'cause Rodney McKay wouldn't respect a scientist without a PhD, Tony Stark would be an ass on purpose, much posturing would abound and nothing would get done. Well. The job would get done, sure, but last time I paid attention to SGA, McKay was sucking the will to live of the people working for him. A collaboration with him doesn't sound like much fun. In SG-1, once Sam Carter shoots down Tony's first attempt to pick her up, they will be able to get to work, bond over machinery and possibly get turned on by each other's brain. And their problem-solving ability will be a thing of beauty. Sam will toss the wildest ideas out there, thinking the root of the solution is there, she just needs to work out a humanly realisable option, except Tony will take the first crazy idea, run with it and make it happen. That may just play havoc on Sam's insecurities and she'll be a bit envious of Tony's brains but their fields may just be different enough not to spark a rivalry. She's an astrophysics first and foremost, she loves pure science for its own sake, the fact she's also an excellent engineer is merely a bonus in her job. Tony as an engineer is uncanny but while he'll keep up with scientific journals and happily apply whatever physics are needed to create his hardware, research is so not his thing. Nevertheless, they will share a sincere, profound and abiding love for things that go fast, go boom, or both. That's it for the professional side of it. On the personal side, a one-night stand would be workable but frankly, in the long-term, Sam doesn't need Tony's issues and boy, eyes Iron Man comics canon, does the man have Issues. Although... After reflection, a temporary hook up would be perfectly in character. Sam's flings tend to die. Tony's women tend to screw him over, betray him or try to kill him (or die on him). So, after some time and adventures, during which the other men in Sam's life will freak over her latest romantic development (A playboy?! WTF?! No, seriously, WTF?!), and try to intimidate Tony with various degrees of success (Teal'c will totally pwn him), (Pepper will totally, totally pwn them all by the way. The boys know not to piss off Sgt Walter Harriman at the SGC, they should have known not to bother the person who makes sure everything runs well behind the scene), Tony'll get hurt. He'll survive, of course, after a stay in the hospital which is par for the course for him and then their paths will lead them in different directions. Sam and Tony will break up amiably and agree it was fun and nice while it lasted. The end. With such a penname, Down the Rabbit Hole’s other nick should have been Alice. Perversely however, she was thinking her pet crossover was a mad project at the time (she still does, by the way). And hey! Isn’t it tea time? Thus did the Mad Hatter steal the place of a more sensible nickname. The author, who likes to be called Maddie (lets’ face it, the Mad Hatter is barely a shorter mouthful than Down the Rabbit Hole) is Belgian, a student and has a unexplained fondness for irony, sarcasm and ‘l’humour noir’ (among other things). Her maternal language is French. That means she will always be thankful to people pointing out her mistakes and allow her to improve her English. (The written one, that is. The spoken one is delicately balancing on this side of hopeless). The Mad Hatter, who, as stated, answers to the name of Maddie, reads in many, many fandoms but writes only in Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings (for the moment). If pressed, she’ll admit to being reluctantly seduced by great blue expanses, paradisiacal isles and one raving mad pirate (well, who can boast to be able to resist Jack Spar-- Sorry! Captain Jack Sparrow?) . Finally, the Mad Hatter would very much like to announce she has not abandoned her pet monster There and Back Again and doesn’t plan to ever do. It wanders into tight spots now and then but thanks to a strange sense of direction (also called plot in some distant lands), manages to never lose itself in limbo. The story will be updated. That’s a logical deduction, since the Mad Hatter has not given up and is still working on it. But then, “Logic is the art of going wrong with assurance” said Joseph Wood Krutch. Bonne lecture! Maddie. |
