Author has written 7 stories for Harry Potter. Okey-Dokey! As many of you may know, I'm on my way to England... But there's a problem... If you like my stories, would like to see me improve, and are interested in helping a fellow writer out, please google "Alice Liu go fund me", the first result that pops up should be "Alice's HP-themed dream trip to the UK" This experience would tremendously help me with my writing, from overall plots to geographical details to correct use of British slangs, and I am really looking forward to it! Your contribution will count, and you gain more than just better stories! A huge thank you in advance! Part I: Some Bullet Points about Myself I'm only writing for Harry Potter, at least that's for now. Maybe, and that's a big maybe, I may try Grey's Anatomy, House and Lie to Me later, but I don't see it happening. I like to call myself a Chinese-to-be-Canadian, which means a) I'm going to suck at European/Western Mythology and b) there will be a lot of Chinese/Canadian elements in my stories. I try to keep them at a minimum, but no guarantees. I'm an undergrad student who's currently going through a writing-is-better-than-studying phase, and I'm not sure when that'll pass. So forgive me when I suddenly stop updating so frequently. I probably need a kick in the head for the above behaviour. English is my second language, but I certainly cannot write anything acceptable in Chinese, so please bear with my ramblings. I'll try to be as sophisticated as possible, I find my vocabularies, as my understanding of the British Isles (and Ireland) limited... I try, of course, to fill it up with research, but until I go on an exchange in Newcastle and get to know more about the UK in general, I'm extremely prone to mistakes. I'm an adamant advocate for Canon-compliant stories. I can maybe tolerate a little bit of Harry/Hermione, but that's about it. Besides, I'm never a huge fun about Romance (As you can probably see in my stories). I'm also really really really precise with facts and dates. Wikia is my friend, so are the books. Some movie ideas will be integrated, but books get priorities. I can't, however, promise not to make careless mistakes (some may be deliberate as I need them for my stories). But I'll try my best to fact check everything before I publish them, and will explain if the inconsistency is too much from JKR's world. I enjoy friendship/family stories, better if humour is integrated appropriately. Stories about personal growth really really fascinate me, so does the ones that focus on post-war societies. I'm a psychology student, and try to keep Rowling's characters as the way they are. That doesn't mean I don't have my own theories on some character traits/developments over the course of my stories. I'll explain the theories in individual stories rather than here. I like redeemed Dudley/Draco fics, and welcome mentor Severus ones, but they need to be good, and I can't stand any OOC for these types of fics, or the simple mindset of they'll never struggle. I focus on post-Hogwarts stories, but wouldn't say no to upper-year ones. It's honestly the concept of War that intrigues me. As for the Marauders... I don't read a lot about them because it's much harder to find the emotional balance and most of them end up as either simple, or Romance, or both. PM would be the best means of contact. Reviews are always welcome. For some strange reason I detest any form of Harry's "new-found power" that is not love. I mean, LOVE in its purest, most selfless form is the essence of HP series, and one can't just dismiss its powers. But that doesn't mean I won't consider adding other forms of magic into my stories: they just won't be the key. I also don't like the idea of Harry being an animagus. It just doesn't feel right. HARRY IS NOT, HAS NEVER BEEN, AND WILL NEVER BE PERFECT. Remember that. Even though he's a capable Auror, a considerate husband, and an awesome Dad, HE IS NOT PERFECT. Yes, he'll be happy, but there are scars that can never heal, and I do not intend them to. Neither will I grant him a lot of power: he deserves to be granted a peaceful life. That being said, I do not believe he's severely abused either. I would rather think starvation and neglect, maybe emotional abuse to some degree, had been present, but anything further than that just seems unrealistic to me. I don't see how he could still function like he does in the books after being beat up daily by Vernon, end of discussion. A Note On the Cursed Child: I've read the script, and although I believe watching the show would give a much better experience, for the purposes of my writing, I'll see it as a piece of fan-work authorised by JKR. I find myself disagreeing with many of the details/settings of the Cursed Child, and thus I'll go with JKR's interviews, as well as information on Wikia and Pottermore. I will try my best to disregard the Cursed Child influence should any information appears ambiguous on the said sites.Part II: Finished, In-Progress and Future Stories Now onto the stories! I must admit I have a rather ambitious list already... Finished Wartime Reporter: A transcript from Potterwatch on the night of May 1st, 1998, spanning over 24hours as Lee broadcasts the Battle of Hogwarts live to Wizarding Britain. It will become an add-in piece for Safe Houses. (listed below). In Progress War and Peace, Love and Struggles: A series of post-war one-shots that focuses on the aftermath or impact of the Second Wizarding War, on both personal and societal level. A lot of details of my HPverse are also explained in this collection. However, I am considering to break down this story into short stories, and rewriting a lot of them to fit my HPverse better. Back from a New Millennium: A do-over fic. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Draco and Astoria decides to go back in time at 0:00 on Jan 1st, 2000, in order to improve the outcomes of the War. With a timeline that is somewhat relunctant to change, can they save minimize the casualties and raise awareness of social justice in Wizarding Britain? Entrance Class of 1998: Katherine Walters is a perceptive and lively 11-year-old living in Manchester. However, as their neighbour returns from a long trip on May 3rd, 1998, Katherine discovers that she, and her family, are pushed towards the collision point of three distinctly different worlds. What sparkles could result from her adventure? And what do Harry's lot have to do in the Walters' lives? Future Stories (None of them will be started before BFNM is finished!) Safe Houses: This is essentially what happens outside of Hogwarts during Harry's year on the run. It focuses on three Order of Phoenix Safe Houses, while alluding to at least two others. The people staying in those houses and their back stories will be revealed as the tension between Voldemort and the Order reaches a breaking point. Potterwatch will play a major role in this story. Journeys from Platform 9 3/4: A multi-chapter story about the next generation and their first train ride to Hogwarts. It's a story of how they make friends, uncover the past, and take their first steps to become who they are. Lots of OC's as expected, but mostly Canon-compliant. P.T.S.D: Summer after DH, Harry-centric, focusing on how the characters gradually pull themselves together after the Battle of Hogwarts. Some moments are in War and Peace, Love and Struggles. Also includes a summer of Auror duties. VAO Case Files: A sort of continuation of Entrance Class of 1998, only it's a collection of shorter stories involving the Veteran Affairs Office. Longer stories will be written seperately. |
