Harry and Hermione sat in the stands keeping a cheering Teddy between them. Being only about three the little boy didn't understand about the teams yet and he was cheering for everything. It was about an hour into the game when Harry noticed something odd. A man, not one of the team players, was running out of the tunnel. One of the stand-by Referee's tried to stop him but a dark colored spell had the man down. The now unknown criminal took the broom and headed into the air.
"Hermione, hide Teddy's eyes." Harry instructed.
"Already did." She spoke, "What are you going to do?"
"Jump." He said before taking a leap off the stands.
Hermione gasped and stood to see what he was doing and only rolled her eyes when he already had a broom underneath himself. She sat back still struggling to keep Teddy unaware of the problem.
Hermione's gasp wasn't the only one that was let out when Harry jumped. He heard many as he pulled his wand and summoned one of the brooms from the sideline. Half the crowd was watching him and half was watching the man throwing stunners at flying quidditch players. Harry started to put cushioning charms on the few already falling as he made his way to the man. He swerved away from bludgers and around diving players. The rest of the teams realized what was happening and headed for the ground.
Unfortunately, the man's aim was on Ginny. When she realized what was happening she headed away from the rest of the two teams and up into the air. She went high not wanting the man to hit any of the spectators either. She zig zagged through the air trying to keep an eye on the two men. She almost stopped when she realized the back one was Harry.
Harry being on the slower broom was falling behind. Suddenly Ginny turned and streaked back down barely missing several spells and making the man turn as well. Just as Harry was within spell distance he realized he couldn't use a spell on the man without hitting Ginny. He continued toward them as they streaked back to the ground. He finally got the chance to hit the man and sent a stunner than connected and threw the man off the stolen broom. Diving after the falling body he threw down several cushioning charms and slowed the man's decent. Harry landed just as the man hit the cushioning charm.
Using a sonarus charm Harry turned to the teams, "Everyone needs to stay where they are. If anyone is hurt try and treat them here but if it's life threatening get them to St. Mungo's. No one is to approach me or the detainee."
He ended that spell and then began his patronus to Ron. However, a terrier dog patronus appeared before he even started.
"We heard the whole thing on the wireless and we're on our way." Ron's voice actually sounded amused to Harry's aggravation.
As he checked the man over Harry noticed something in his own pocket was moving. He reached up to the inner pocket of the robe he was wearing and felt the most familiar feeling. The snitch was in his pocket. He was just pondering what this would do to the game as the rest of the aurors arrived. A few broke off to speak with the back-up referees, and a group converged on the two teams. Head Auror Roberts and Ron headed to Harry.
"I assume Hermione has Teddy up in the stands." Ron said as a way of greeting his friend.
"Yes, thank goodness." Harry shook his head, "I don't know what I would have done if it had just been Teddy and I.'"
"I've heard the wireless version so what's your side of the story?" Gawain asked and after the story he nodded, "Good to know the wireless can actually report news correctly. Return to headquarters and wait there."
"Two things." Harry stopped him, "I need to get Hermione to take Teddy home and I need to talk to the ref before I can leave."
"Weasley will let her know." Gawain waved him off, "But why do you need the ref?"
"The snitch flew into my pocket during the chase." Harry admitted.
Ron tried valiantly to hold in the laugh but when Gawain snickered Ron lost it. He bent over and slapped his leg as he laughed.
"Ron!" Harry huffed.
"Go talk to the ref and then get to the office." Gawain instructed before turning to Ron, "When you finish laughing let your wife know about the boy and then bag this maggot and get him to my cells."
Hermione wondered at the snickers when Ron's patronus told her that Harry had to head in to the office and she was to please take Teddy home and that Harry or more likely Ginny would come get him later. She shook her head at it but began to gather their things. By this time Harry had reached a group of players and referees. He approached the one that was working at the time of the incident.
"Excuse me Mr. Smith." Harry caught most of the groups attention, "Sorry to bother you."
"Not at all." The man waved off his concern, "Thank you for saving us all."
"My pleasure." He nodded to the group as a whole carefully not looking at Ginny, "I have a little problem though."
"What do you need?" the man asked.
"As I was chasing down the detainee the snitch flew into my pocket." He held open his cloak and indicated the small bulge in his pocket.
"Your joking." Gwenog stepped forward with Ginny right next to her.
"I'm afraid not, but I've not touched it." Harry shrugged, "I was hoping it could just be put back into play."
"If the wings have folded in then its officially been caught." Ginny grinned at her husband's grimace.
The ref stepped forward and looked into the pocket. He then fished it out since the wings were closed. He held it out to Harry and when he touched it the wings reappeared.
"Well." The man snickered. Everyone knew by now that weird things just happened to Harry, "It is officially out of play. Harpies win though neither team will get the points from the snitch."
"Harry!" he heard someone whine his name and turned to find Angelina in her Pride of Porttree uniform, "How can you do this to me, your favorite sister in law."
"Sorry Ang." He grimaced, "Please don't have George hurt me too badly."
"He wouldn't anyway." She groused, "You are his favorite brother in law."
"I'm his only brother in law." Harry shook his head before turning to his wife, "Gin, Hermione has Teddy."
"I'll head that way when I'm done here." She agreed, "I'll make sure Gawain knows you need to be home before bed time tonight."
"Good luck with that." Harry huffed as he moved away from the group.
The head auror helped Ron get the criminal ready for transport then headed toward the players. Harry was already gone when Gawain reached them. The referee stepped to the middle of the field and announced the end of the game.
"The snitch has been caught and Holyhead wins three hundred and fifty to three hundred." He began to walk away when the announcer interrupted.
"Wait a minute, if its over who caught the snitch and why didn't either team get the points?" he asked.
"The snitch flew into Auror Potter's pocket during the chase of the criminal." The referee was actually snickering.
"Merlin!" the announcer said, he was on the wizard wireless so of course now everyone knew, "The Potter Curse strikes again, everything weird is his doing or he's involved."
The next morning at breakfast a bleary-eyed Harry stared at the paper in disbelief, "The Potter Curse?"
"Could be worse." Ginny snickered from the stove as she was cooking.
"How?" he looked up at her bewildered.
"It could be the Harry Potter curse." She grinned, "This way your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will all get to share in the fame."
"And they'll all blame it on me." He huffed, "Why can't we blame Ron?"
"He's got the curse of idiocy, you can't want to saddle him with anything else." Ginny flipped the bacon onto his plate and handed it to him.
"The way he gets amusement from all of this stuff I'd have no problem blaming him." Harry dropped the paper and took the plate being offered, "Thanks for taking Teddy back, what did Andy say?"
"She had already heard and was laughing when she asked Teddy if he enjoyed watching you play." Ginny grinned, "Of course he said you won."
"At least someone appreciates what I go through." He sighed.
"We all appreciated you stopping that guy." Ginny grinned, "I even baked some biscuits to thank you and the aurors. They're boxed so you can take them into the office and share."
"Thank you." Harry said with real appreciation before opened the box to eat one. Inside he found several dozen snitch shaped biscuits, "Really?"
Ginny was giggling behind her hand as he opened the box. His sarcastic look back at her had her laughing out loud. He still picked up the box and took it with him to the floo.
Just before he left, he called over his shoulder, "Anyone who laughs doesn't get a biscuit. I may have to eat the whole box myself."
Later when Ron arrived at the office, he noticed several pouting aurors. He found Harry and asked, "Why is everyone so down?"
"I told them they could only have one of Ginny's biscuits if they didn't laugh." Harry grumbled, "No one has been able to."
"Well then, lets see them." Ron pulled open the box and just stared for a moment, "She's vicious."
"And that's after I saved her." He huffed.
"You knew what you were getting into." Ron plucked a biscuit from the box and took a bite, "Yum they're still warm. I need to get some milk, can I take a few?"
"Have at it then." Harry's mouth twitched at the corner, "Bring me some milk back."
Ron left and Harry heard one of the others asked, "How did you not laugh at them?"
"I know how good her biscuits are." Ron answered and Harry could hear the grin.
