On the eleven-year-old lonely orphan Hermione had met so long ago, it had been an Oliver Twist sort of smile, all the sadder for lighting up that thin face that carried the awful stamp of not being wanted. On the eighteen-year-old adult wizard, it was a thing to fall in love with at first sight, to trust absolutely.'

And that's why we love Harry. Brilliant description.

This is gorgeous. Regardless of everything else going on here, I think what I love most are Hermione's descriptions of the boys- because really, they have molded her into who she is at this point in time. Before she met them she would have fit much better with her parents, but she struggles to relate to them here because she has changed, irrevocably, thanks to her relationship with her best friend and her boyfriend (finally).

I feel for Hermione in this fic. As an insider to what she, Ron, and Harry went through and why, it is frustrating to see the Grangers dismiss it all so easy- but it's believable. They don't want to understand it, and I believe Ron hit the nail on the head with why.

Also, the bit at the end with Ron trying to be helpful and Hermione teasing him about Hogwarts, A History? Perfect. I like to imagine their relationship would evolve somewhat like how you've portrayed it.
