To my Inheritance Cycle or Warriors readers:

I'm not saying I'm done completely with those fandoms, especially since I still visit fantasy!Alagaesia on a regular basis. I even have a mental story going, but it's unlikely I will ever solidify it. As for Warriors, well, I'm sadly behind on sub-series. I'll have to get up on those before I get any more ideas, but since I'm isolated on my campus, that's not going to happen any time soon.

To my NCIS readers:

Yes, I have promised updates on my current WIPs: Blood Debt, Butterflies, and Blades and Bullets. Yes, I am actually working on them, but, as implied above, I am in college, and it's going to take some time to come up with new ideas.

To everyone else/any of the above who are still reading my profile:

At the moment, I am working on a new brainchild, title to be determined, set in the Marvel Universe. More specifically, this is going to be about what happens with Loki during the movie Thor, so mostly his thoughts, but also a few brief perspectives from the people he's interacting with at the moment, to get inside their heads and what they're thinking about what's going on. I like being sympathetic to the characters, inasmuch as I want to make sense of their actions and try to piece together what's going on. Updates on this one will be more regular, since I'm working from a template (the movie) and extrapolating therefrom.

Okay. As promised, notes on Asgard et al.:

First, the time exchange rate. The battle in the beginning of Thor takes place (close enough to) a thousand years ago. We also know that Loki was a baby then. If we interpret Asgardians through the timeframe of human development, I'm going to guess he's about twenty (because it's a round number) years old. So we can calculate a rough estimate of 50:1 developmentally speaking.

But hang on a second.

I have so often encountered someone from Asgard mentioning "centuries" or "millennia" or some such. Even better: just measuring Thor's/Loki's ages in straight human development. Astronomy 101 (okay, so I actually took 110): different planet = different orbital period. There is no way Asgardians would interpret time in Earth years. Please people; think this through. You know better.

In light of this, we can't know/conclude how Asgardians measure time. It's extremely unlikely that Asgardian years are exactly 50 times as long as Earth years, so "seven-year-old Loki" (just as a random example) is utterly meaningless. Now, you could convert ages by development, but that only works when talking with humans; Aesir wouldn't use that when talking with each other.

Right. Now I'm done venting about time comparisons. I think.
