Eliot j_merc fanfiction-wise: Preferences: In regards to reading, I tend to lean most towards family fluff and dark fics. If they include both, then that's the fic for me. In regards to writing, well, you can see for yourself, but I tend to dip in and out of things. I do apologise for the fact that I tend to be a very slow updater. Pet hates: Random Japanese in fanfics. Sorry, I really hate this. I've seen different languages used well in fanfiction, when full sentences are used to show a change in language and to create a language barrier to help put yourself in the character's shoes. Otherwise it disrupts the flow by drawing attention to the fact that it isn't Japanese/whatever language you are using. To be honest, it just looks a little silly and it's kinda lazy writing. No one talks like that. If you know what that word is in Japanese/Elvish/wahtever then, chances are, they know what the word is in English. That and the fact that often the words are used wrong anyway. A favourite fanfiction quote: "Squall was eating lunch in the Cafeteria at the time. Martine just barged right up to his table and gave him the order, hundreds of students around him. So Squall calmly finished his sandwich, stood up, and did the verbal equivalent of tearing Martine's nuts off." I made a promise (in my favourites) by InstigateInsanity Fanfics to come (maybe) (These are all pre-beta read, so apologizes for spelling and grammar mistakes). I haven't made any updates to this since my FFVIII/KH days, so I'll be adding my Avengers/Thor stuff to this list :D Thor- -1- -Secrets: Loki is dead. Thor knows he's dead because he saw him die. So how, nearly two hundred years later, can Thor run into his brother in Oslo. Because it is Loki... It has to be... Doesn't it? "I'm not him." Thor looked at his drinking companion in surprise. The man continued. "I am very sorry that you lost someone so close to you, but I'm not your brother." The words rang deeply within Thor, echoing an oh-so-familiar chant. 'Ola' drained his tea and stood from the table. "Nor am I replacement for him." "I nev- You're leaving?" "I agreed to one drink, nothing more." "But..." Thor also half-rose from his chair and tried to grasp for something that would make the other man stay. "I know, but it was so short." The other man picked up his briefcase and shot him a pitying look. "I am sorry, but I don't think I can give you what you want from this meeting. It's best if I leave now, before you get too attached to the idea." -2- !Title unknown!: School AU, without the focus on the school part. An idea that sneaked into my head, though it's pretty low on my list. Loki comes home one day to some nasty news. “It wasn’t me.” “Loki-,” his mother started, but he didn’t let her get any further. “Honestly, I’ve been behaving myself,” more or less, though he was suddenly very conscious of certain items in his inner blazer zipped pocket and his wallet. “So, whatever it is, I didn’t do it.” “Loki, please sit down,” her voice was still calm, but there was a pleading edge. “No, I haven’t done anything wrong. You always assume-” “Your father was here today,” Odin’s words voice cut through his own, stopping them in their tracks. Loki stared blankly back at them, only managing a small, ‘Oh.’ His mind fought to process the information, but it was stuck. “My father?” “Yes,” Odin confirmed and through his stoic mask, Loki could see his Dad’s, his guardian’s, jaw tense. The teen couldn’t tell if that was simply a sign of him being unhappy or something deeper. The boy’s feet started walking towards them of their own accord, slowly and uncertainly. He couldn’t say he was any happier than Odin. It’d been thirteen years since he’d seen his "father", not since he was three. He’d never even thought that the Borsen household was anything but a safe-haven. He hadn’t even thought that his ‘father’ was interested in him. If there had been any attempt to contact him, Loki hadn’t been told about it. The man had always been always been so much more caught up in his mother… Loki stopped at the table. “As in…” “Laufey,” Odin finished for him.
-3- Staring at Stars: College AU. Tony Stark and Loki find solace in each other's company, but rather than helping each other, they drag each other further into drugs, sex and alcohol. Their relationship is detrimental to both sides. I've read a few FrostIron fics in which one helps the other out of their drugs and drinking problems. Personally I think it would be the opposite and they'd just cause each other to spiral even further down by encouraging each other. "Thor...," Bruce's tense voice was all the warning Tony got before he felt himself slammed against the wall. He was vaguely aware of shouting, but all that seemed to register was Thor's face close to his and his voice. "What did you do to him?" All Tony could manage was shaking his head and his captor's expression darkened. He never realised that his cheery friend could descend this far into fury. There were hands and arms between them, but they couldn't stop Thor from slamming him back into the wall. "What did you do?" "Thor, calm down." Steve's voice. Guess he must have driven Thor to the hospital. From the look of murder on the quarter-back's face though, he was not listening. He was only interested in Tony, the rest of their friends be damned. Bruce tried this time, and Tony's brain was catching up with registering the situation. Steve and Bruce trying the drag Thor off of him while the doctor tried to loosen the hands on Tony's shirt. "We need Tony to explain what happened and what they took, he can't do that if you keep slamming him into the wall." "Then talk!" Thor's voice was getting louder, a hint below a shout. Still Tony couldn't get any words out. Someone, it had to be the doctor, managed to loosen the blond's grip enough for them to heave the muscular man a couple of feet away from his captive. Tony's legs finally gave way under him, sinking him down to the ground. His eyes remained locked on Thor though, he just couldn't look away because rather than calming down with the distance between them, the older youth became more and more frantic until he was screaming at his legless friend. "What the hell did you do to my little brother?" Final Fantasy VIII - Blue Caravan: I wanted to write something in which Squall and Laguna weren't related by blood and it grew. While returning from patrol, Laguna stumbles across a child who was lost in more than one way. “So, what’s your name?” The child pulled the blanket tighter around him, avoiding eye contact. “Squall.” “Interesting name. How did you come to be out here alone? It’s dangerous times for a kid, like yourself, to be out on their own.” The child didn’t answer, keeping his eyes downcast. “Did you run away?” Still, the silence remained. “I don’t care if you did. I won’t take you back if you don’t want to go. I won’t make you go anywhere you don’t want to?” The boy may have relaxed a little, but no answer passed his lips. Never mind, he couldn’t make the boy talk and he had no intention of trying.
