I just stumbled across this. While the ending is heartbreaking because .Ziva ... sigh. It is totally plausible to see things going just as you have written them here, and written them very well. Nice work.

AW! That's so sad! That Tony's thinking of her, and her father's thinking of her but not shedding a tear, but Tony's crying a river.

Oh my gosh. That was great. Amazingly beautiful, and the ending was so sad. Perfect description of how I think Eli and Tony would've reacted to finding out that Ziva is dead.

That last sentence almost had me in tears.

OK, the last two summers I worried about Ziva being killed but not this year. This story fits Ziva and Tony last summer - very good. Now I have to go re-watch some of the early Ziva episodes (season 3 or 4) and find where she talked about not living to Gibbs's age (maybe during Kill Ari).

Okay, so I most definitely teared up at that last part. . . .

I mean just altogether wonderful.

When you got to the last one, right from the start ("the last time she takes a bullet") of course I knew that she was going to be killed, but the memory right before it had been so nice and light that it was like a punch in the gut.

And I kept reading knowing she was going to die and still kind of hoping she wouldn't.

Loved the last sentence, too. Totally effective.
