I have read so many fanfiction in my life that it's over the border ridiculous. I may have a serious problem. I go through fandoms in phases, some longer than others, and I only read them because I'm so invested in these fictional characters. Yes, I recognize my own patheticness.

Nonetheless, I am always on the look out for good stories and if any of you who bother to read all this have any good recommendations, then by all means, please p.m. them to me. You would so make my day if you do.

But I don't just read anything, I have standards too. It's really grating on my nerves to read stories that are written with the grammar and spelling of a 5th grader. It doesn't have to be perfect, because my English isn't even perfect, but stories riddled with mistakes make them hard to understand and at times those errors really take away from the plot, which is highly unfortunate. Character bashing. I really can't stand it, because it shows the immaturity of the author to hate on a person who doesn't even exist. Granted, I have characters that I don't like, and some I even abhor, but a good author wouldn't bash on a character unless it contributes to the plot other than making their star player look good. Same goes for original characters and self-inserts. I am only okay with O.C.s if they're in the background and doesn't take the focus of the non-O.C.s that I came to this site to read about. As for harems and reverse harems, they used to amuse me before but now not so much. If it's done real well, actually having an intriguing plot or if I'm into those pairings than... maybe. Really depends on my mood. Another thing that really really irks me is when lust is confused for love. They're not the same! I acknowledge that physical attraction helps in turning a platonic relationship to a romantic one, but... there's so much more to truly loving a person than just jumping them. And I'm also really biased because I tend to only read a story if my favorite character of that fandom either stars or is highly active in it.

Like I stated before, I read fanfiction because I'm invested in the characters. So stories where the characters actually grow or have inner reflections really appeal to me. Also, I'd rather read a plot of various characters interacting with each other and building relationships/friendships with one another, with action and life tossed in than a straight up romance. It's fun to see creative interactions... like Shino actually being Sakura's main confidant because she knows that he can keep a secret like nobody's business. Or something like that. But I do read romances too, because I. SHIP. SO. HARD. On a side note, well-written crack amuses me too.

I go through fandoms like the seasons, but Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon and Teen Titans are the ones I'll always fall back on.

The pairings that I listed above as shipped aren't the only ones I read though. Other pairings I'm pretty impartial to, and if the story is intriguing enough, I may even read stories that ship the pairing I don't particularly like.
