Fluffy AU genin!Kakashi and Sensei!Sakura for dimisfit. This is just fluff and I missed writing Sakumo. Enjoy!

Kakashi was used to being the best at everything.

It seemed that today was the day where that would all end.

Who knew that chocolate would ultimately be his downfall?

"Ugh, this is impossible!" the twelve-year-old groaned in annoyance as he threw away another batch of burnt chocolate away from him. It clattered loudly, as if mocking him for his incompetence. He scratched his hair irritably as he pulled down his mask.

Like clockwork, his father's voice sounded from his study. "Kakashi, everything alright there?" Sakumo's concerned tone rang out.

"Yeah, dad." He was in the mood for a grand tantrum, but he knew he'd end up cleaning it up anyway. He walked towards the saucepan and retrieved it, shoulders sagging. A few seconds later Sakumo himself appeared at the doorway.

The older Hatake crinkled his nose. "You've been in here for hours. The whole house smells like burnt chocolate."

"Thank you dad, for your astute observation," Kakashi muttered as he began scraping the saucepan to clear the chocolate away. "The White Fang of Konoha has saved the day once again."

His father grinned. "Is this what I think it is?"

Kakashi said nothing.

"It's White Day tomorrow, right?"

Kakashi resolutely kept on scraping the saucepan. This would be a good exercise of his poker face. Yes, that's what he was going to do.

"Is it for a…guuuuurl…" Sakumo's sang. It took all of Kakashi's willpower not to fling the saucepan right into his father's smug face. But it was suddenly very hot —must've been all the burnt chocolate.

"Alright, alright," Sakumo finally conceded, pulling the saucepan from his son's hands. "If you stuck your nose any further in that saucepan you're going to cook it. Give me that."

"Obito said it was real easy! He said you just had to melt the chocolate!" Kakashi suddenly burst out petulantly. "I've already wasted three blocks of those things! Three!" He punctuated the last word with a stamp of his foot.

"Well maybe if you helped with the cooking more, we wouldn't be in this predicament," Sakumo muttered.

"What's that dad?"

"Nothing," Sakumo sighed. "Look, Obito's obviously not the most detailed of people and forgot to tell you how to melt the chocolate. He's been doing this a long time, yeah?"

"I think he burnt a part of his family's compound the first time around, though…"

"Okay, well." Sakumo pulled up his sleeves. "Let's just do this because I would really like not to have our house burnt down. We're not Uchihas, you know. This is the only house we have."

"Y-you're going to help me?!" Kakashi could've kissed his father on the spot.

"Yep." Sakumo was already getting a bowl from the shelf. "Please be useful and shave the chocolate first…"

"You SHAVE those things…?"

Two hours later, Sakumo had proved himself not only a talented ninja, but something of a wizard in the kitchen as well. Kakashi watched, fascinated, as his father peeled out three perfectly-formed chocolate pieces in the form of a cherry blossom. He had even dyed the white chocolate to take on the flower's distinctive pink hue.

"There you go," Sakumo said cheerily as he pushed the chocolate towards Kakashi.

"Thanks, Dad!"

The older Hatake's eyes turned a bit quizzical. "You're not…giving this to Sakura-sensei, are you?"

"Wh-No! H-how can you say that?"

"Oh, nothing," Sakumo shrugged, dropping the topic. "Just that I know Sakura-sensei is very popular and receives a ton of sakura-shaped chocolate on White Day."

Kakashi's face fell.

"But those are pretty (if I say so myself)…whoever she is will surely notice it," Sakumo added quickly, pretending not to see.

"You think so, Dad?"

"I know so."

"Sensei! Sakura-sensei!"

"Oh, hey, Kakash— OOF!" Sakura could barely finish her sentence when Kakashi practically shoved a parcel into her stomach.

"Ahhh—sorry! Are you hurt!?"

"Uh…I'm fine. What's this?"

"H-happy White Day, Sensei!"

Sakura smiled, and it was like a beam of pure light on his day. "Awww, that's sweet of you Kakashi, thank you!"

"You're welcome, Sensei." Kakashi was suddenly very interested in studying his toes.

"You know, I usually get a lot of these, but today, nothing. My stock must be going down," Sakura laughed. "Ah, old age is catching up with me."

"That's not true!" Kakashi blurted out before he could stop himself.

She only smiled. "But I got these from you, so it's not all that bad, is it?" And before he realized what was happening, she leaned down and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek. He was definitely red as a tomato now. "Thank you, Kakashi. I'll see you around, okay?"

And then she was gone, leaving him stunned.

The fact that his dad came home with two kilos' worth of White Day chocolate, chocolate that he had to consume for the next two months, went by without remark. Kakashi was sick of chocolate by the time the it was gone, but as far as he was concerned…it was all worth it.
