![]() Author has written 20 stories for Tekken, Resident Evil, Payday: The Heist, Earth Defense Force, Highschool of the Dead, Command & Conquer, RWBY, Gears of War, Overwatch, Fallout, and Dungeons and Dragons. Who are you? Do you have an update schedule? What is my profile pic of? Why do you write? Who are your favorite characters? I prefer to write from Jaune Arc's perspective in the RWBYverse and Alternate Realities because he is a very weak character in combat in comparison to his peers. It's an interesting character trait to me because not only does he have to worry about the legacy of his family, but he has the most to learn when it comes to interacting with his friends in the story. I think that edgelords and their morbid world views can lead to a defeatist mentality for their audience and I like the idea of a dorky character trying to do something completely out of his depth. But at the same time, that level of dedication and optimism is what leads him to succeed in his short term goals sends a positive message to the audience. HUNK is a character I give too much praise toward because despite his generic soldier get up, his one character trait of "Survival is your responsibility" is against my personal moral code. I really like the idea of him being a tool and is aware of being a tool for other individuals he may never meet. Gas masks are so cool to me, it is scary because those masks are faceless in some fashion, like how death in real life takes many forms. Cancer, war, disease, and etc. HUNK makes me think of him like an owl, big round eyes, and he became an omen of death withing the franchise. I like to write to him so I can learn how to better myself at "The Lone Badass" trope in fiction. He was my favorite Mercenary in Resident Evil 4 and grew to love his small cameos in future games. The Carmine Brothers in Gears of War are the ultimate self-insert for my younger days from middle school. I was feeble, bullied, and often did my assignments to please my teachers instead of my parents. Benjamin Carmine happens to be my favorite character because he is so out of place within the Gears of War 2 storyline. A young scared kid who is considered very weak when standing next to his squadmates. I dealt with emotional insecurity in my youth if I could be a "real" man because I was often non-confrontational within my life. It's nothing new to the human experience, but Ben Carmine became my avatar for Gears of War 2 and later 3 in multiplayer. When a character outright admits his fears publicly is endearing to me. Scared of death, combat, and wishing to impress his peers which leads him to overcompensate in false courage, it feels like he was made for me. Goblin Slayer to me represents a form of criticism of a problem that exists within the Dungeons and Dragons space. Players and therefore their characters would avoid and refuse quests to help farmers and villages with goblins and other lesser monsters. It makes perfect sense why Goblin Slayer would become a folk hero because he is working to end a daily threat instead of hyper-focusing on the Demon King. Goblin Slayer does not shame his comrades or other heroes for their work and accomplishments, but he is working hard to help the forgotten members of society. It is still a by-product of his actions and does not flaunt his accomplishments for personal clout. I think that makes Goblin Slayer a better hero. (The DOOM 2016 x Goblin Slayer memes are hilarious too, and I finally played that game so I could get inspiration for the Goblin Slayer of Remnant story). Alexander Nox, or "Caustic" from Apex Legends has a unique perspective toward death. That being his desire to understand it and thus further enact death. But despite his knowledge of breaking laws and being hunted down by governments and bounty hunters. He knows being a rampant murderer would be more trouble than it is worth to carry out in civilian environments. This is probably the first time I ever really relished maining an overt villain instead of agents of chaos. What I love about the character is the sheer amount of confidence in himself and casually insult the intellect of his teammates except Wattson. I admire his perspective of "controlling" death instead of believing himself to be the embodiment of death. Caustic mirrors the statement I heard from a good friend a while back, "the number one cause of death, is life." Because without life, there would be no death. It's a nice bonus because he wears a gas mask. Gas masks are cool. Why are there so many fighting scenes in your stories? Are you a Beta? No, are you a Beta READER? Fatal Attraction by RoseImagine on Chapter 10 for her story. My Lovely Sea Gypsy by Shantty on Chapter 18 of her story. Black Lagoon Last Resort by 4fireking on Chapter 23/24 for his story. Jaune's Cat by bulletproofpencil on Chapter 15 for his story. So how do you operate as a Beta Reader? How do you operate as a writer yourself? Do you have idols in writing? Karin Traviss writes novels for Star Wars Republic Commandos, Gears of War, and Halo. 3 of the established gaming franchise which I love completely. She writes the situation of the characters and the details of what's happening in events that completely immerse me in her works. If something happened in the story then there is a complete and logical reason for it. If a plot hole can occur, it will be immediately squashed with a reason. The same with how in-depth her knowledge of war just makes the various worlds feel all the more real, regardless of how absurd. James Lovegrove writes the "Age Of" series. Where science fiction clashes with mythology. Such as The Age of Voodoo, Age of Olympus, and my personal favorite The Age of Odin. The dialogue of each character just has all the conversations become fantastic and natural. Just by the tone of words, I can tell which character is speaking. I do like how much the stories of magic and science fiction go hand in hand in most realistic scenarios. That balance just makes me grin at how it was achieved so seamlessly. Walter Dean Myers writes about the social impacts of society and war. The Fallen Angels and Sunrise over Fallujah were two books I was graced to read in middle school. That feeling of dread and self-discovery during the events in a warzone. I find it compelling. David Williams writes a series of Wild West-themed books but Blood Feud and Charge in Victory stand out as my favorites. Stories to two different young men in personal missions, which was something that I respect. I did have some emotional hardships but to see some boy's power through inspires me. Blood Feud sticks out to me because of the tone shift and how the main character is able to outsmart many he comes across. Charge into Victory is something that I respect of a man in the Indian Wars of the US just helps me on wanting to understand both sides of a conflict. Z.A. Recht is a master of the 2nd person. Come on, just fight me on that. His trilogy of The Morningstar Strain felt like I was watching a movie than reading a book series. If anything, that needs to just observe characters on all angles is what fascinates me. If anything, his style of making character behavior just pop out and feel human. I love it and when I do make character interaction, Z.A’s style is what rubbed off on me the most. These are the Authors I idolize whenever I write. I don't copy them of course because as much as I want to know as a great as these authors but I want to remain unique to myself. What do I do if I have more questions? This has been all and good. :-D | |||||||
