Author has written 12 stories for Dragon Ball Z, Teen Titans, Resident Evil, Naruto, Soul Calibur, and Left 4 Dead. I write things... and root for the underdogs. I noticed something interesting about myself today. Every time I pick a character in a game, I pick one of either two archetypes: 1)Physically weak, but mentally formidable female character. (Every game has at least one, in some fashion, so I won't list them all. Trust me, I pick that girl FIRST every time I initially play a game.) 2)Big, slow brute that always hulks over the other characters. (And, no, I won't specify gender here, as I apparently like both in game independently. [ex. I use Astaroth in Soul Calibur, but in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 I use She Hulk. Sure, she's not as massive as Hulk, but she can lift a car. So, yeah.]) I noticed this because I started playing Dead Island Riptide (It's much better than Glitch Island, its predecessor.) and I had the same problem I did with the original. I just flipped between the characters not able to decide which one I wanted to commit to. (I play online with people, and at the beginning we each pick a person, so there won't be any mirroring.) Well, lo and behold, they added a new muscle head (John), on top of the previous two they already had (Sam B and Logan). Not to mention, the two female characters that are both within my firstly mentioned category of character selection (Purna and Xian Mei). Eventually I picked Purna, though, so it's all RIPPER! |
