![]() Author has written 12 stories for Merlin, Torchwood, and Ninja Turtles. A couple of things- I love sci-fi and fantasy and also a mix of both, and I'm probably one of the only people who can remember what Harry Potter ate at the Yule Ball in the Goblet of Fire- goulash, I believe, which is really nice, especially with gouluscha. Yes, one of my favourite films/book series is HP (good ol' JK), but I'm also in love with BBC Merlin (I'm one of the hundreds of fans that is really sad that it's over). I'm also having a sentimental episode and watching stuff from about ten years ago (i.e. TMNT, Beast Wars and (at one moment of weakness) Digimon). Fave films include: Harry Potter (as mentioned). Favourite film series of all time because, one, the magic is BRILLIANT and, two, I love the characters. I seem to also like a lot of films/books with dragons. They're interesting even if they never existed (but then I don't think we'll ever know). Plus, the PS2 games are seriously amazing (though I have trouble with the first two). I'm also on Pottermore, which is SO much fun- I keep duelling random people, though I do tend to lose because I can only use Petrificus Totalus. There's the Cluedo and Diagon Alley games as well, which are great. A friend of mine brought Cluedo into school the other week and I've never even played normal Cluedo before, which made it very interesting. The Diagon Alley game involves going around and buying everything whilst avoiding Knockturn Alley (though I'm thankful that it's just a blank street). Apparently they do Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, but I don't think I'd ever try one- goodness only knows what flavour it'd be. The Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, the lot) is EPIC! My favourite line is Tony's quip at Thor about wearing his mother's "drapes" (I can't really imagine him wearing anything that Frigga wears, but then there is that myth about the theft of Mjollnir) but I can't help but laugh when the Hulk wipes (or rather wrecks) the floor of Stark Tower with Loki. Cruel, I know. However, I think you have to feel sorry for Loki because of everything that the other Asgardians threw at him (i.e. making him trick that builder by distracting his horse and then ending up pregnant with Sleipnir). They need to cut him some slack if you ask me- which I hope will happen in Thor 2. Also cannot wait for Iron Man 3 (Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin will be interesting) and I hope they make another Captain America and Hulk film. Personally, I think this Incredible Hulk is better than the one with Eric Bana. NOTE- OMG at Iron Man 3- I did not see the major twist coming. The ending had me confused though. How is he going to power the suit without the arc reactor? Guesses anyone? And apologies if I've just ruined things for you with my spoilers. Transformers is fab! It's got everything a good film should have- adventure, action, humour, etc. I think my favourite is Revenge of the Fallen, though I was a bit shocked when they killed off Optimus. But they fixed that, so it's fine. I also LOVE the Linkin Park music- they're my 3rd favourite band. My youngest sister isn't too keen on them, so she just glares at me when I sing along (not that I can blame her that much 'cause I'm not that good a singer). Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit. Whoever has not seen any of these films is seriously deprived in my opinion. The books are alright, but they're written in a way that sometimes makes it hard to understand (and I've tried reading Chaucer for crying out loud). I love Merry and Pippin- they have some brilliant lines- "oh yes, it's a quality establishment. I've heard the staff are very good"- and for me to be able to quote something like that is very weird *flushes red with embarrassment*. My favourite is the Fellowship of the Ring I think because I like the look of Hobbiton and Lothlorien. Then, with the Hobbit, I was just on the edge of my seat. It was... epic does not cover it. I know a lot of people think that some bits are unnecessary, but I thought that they made great use of the book and some of the extra notes that Tolkein never actually published- i.e. that bit when Radagast goes to Dol Guldur. That part with the Necromnacer's shadow made me jump, though I swear that it was Benedict Cumberbatch. Batman trilogy (especially the last one). Let's face it- all of them were epic on a massive scale! The villains were very good and I was glad that they were each very different- the Joker was insane in both senses. My favourite bad guy was definitely Bane because of how deadly he was when he wasn't talking- he didn't do that much compared to most of the other characters- it was mainly stalking around and scaring everyone. The people who did the mask did a VERY good job in my opinion. I love how they ended it on a 'sort-of' cliffhanger with Robin finding the cave- who wants another load of Batman films? Did anyone ever see that old film with Jim Carrey as the Riddler (it also had Two Face in it)? How To Train Your Dragon- this is definitely one of the best animated films I've ever seen, and I watched a lot of Disney and Dreamworks stuff when I was younger. Both of my cats look like one of the dragons- Lunar looks like Toothless and Skye looks (and behaves) like a Terrible Terror (the little menace). Toothless is amazing- if this was reality I'd envy Hiccup to the point of insanity. I've heard that they're doing a sequel- I can't wait. I haven't seen the TV series though, but it sounds great. I seem to have this thing with dragons. They may not exist but they're interesting creatures. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is another one of my favourite films. There seems to be a recurring theme of magic here. Oh well, each to their own. It may not exist but it helps the imaginiation. This film has so many quips that make me laugh. Jay Baruchel is a truly brilliant actor, and you have to feel sorry for his character in the beginning when he's nine. I love the part with the Tesla coils when he records the music with electricity (the theme tune by OneRepublic rocks). Does anyone think that they's do a sequel to this- Horvath vanished, so you never know. Weirdly enough, when it comes to Star Wars, my favourite film is the Phantom Menace. I think it's because of Jar Jar Binks- bless him. His character is so well thought out and I'm sad that they didn't include him more in the other two films. Even though the last three films were made before the first three, I think they linked it together very well. The CGI effects are still great in all of them even if one trilogy is about 30 years older than the other. And now they're spoiling us with more. Personally, I don't care if it's gone to Disney- it'll be interesting to see what they pull out of the hat. Fave TV programmes: MERLIN!!!! People, I am OBSESSED with this programme, even though it has finished (*sob*)- you can probably tell by the number of Merlin fanfics there are on my profile. I have always loved the Arthurian legend! My favourite episodes have to be The Lady of the Lake and the Last Dragonlord- yeah, I know that they were sad but it was nice to have some other focus than Merlin saving Arthur all of the time. Obviously I love Merlin, but Gwaine constantly cracks me up- especially in that first episode when he and Merlin introduce each other in the middle of a pub brawl. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one who's noticed that Leon has some kind of immortality complex. How the HELL did he survive Kilgharrah's attack? I guess we'll never actually know, though I love reading what you lot think about it. Emrys (Old Merlin) was absolutely potty- kinda like my brilliant grandad- and me and my family were in fits when he turned into a woman (that had to be painful in my opinion). The only complaint I have about this programme is that Arthur never found out about Merlin before he was on his deathbed. It would have been interesting if they'd done a series with Arthur accomodating the idea of Merlin having magic. Saying that, I respect the fact that the writers stuck to the legend- I will forever salute them for putting this fantastic programme on TV. Then again, I'm not Merlin, so I won't be able to do it forever (my pathetic excuse at a joke :Z). Torchwood (which would also incorporate Doctor Who, I suppose)- right, I only like the first 2 series because of S3Ep4- I'm not ashamed to admit that I was in tears. Yeah, you guessed it, my favourite character is Ianto. I've avoided showing my sister series 3 because she also loves Ianto- I'm sorry but the puppy pout he pulls when Owen first uses the singularity scalpel in front of Martha is SO CUTE- though that will probably be unavoidable as she's seen up to Something Borrowed- one of the best episodes in my opinion because there are so many funny moments (i.e. Ianto with the wedding dress and Rhys with the chain-saw). Tosh and Owen dying was also heartbreaking as they never got to go on that date. I know most people found it annoying, but I kind of got why Jack never told them anything- it was too painful for him and he didn't want them to feel worse. Yeah, it has come back and bitten him, but who would want to relive hell? I am also a 'Save the Teaboy' supporter as I disagree with the BBC writers for leaving the Janto relationship there. Granted, Ianto would have died one day, but they barely had, what, a year and a half? If the BBC ever do a 5th series I hope that they seriously consider bringing him back. Primeval (the American version is okay as well). I am constantly living in hope that they bring back the original Primeval- the cliffhanger they left it on created a lot of questions that need answering. This programme is seriously wacky and wicked in my opinion and I am probably one of the many people dying to know what exactly caused the anomalies. They got closer and closer to finding out and we've been left to imagine what will happen next. Connor and Abby are Cute with a capital C, but I loved Nick Cutter because he really was the nutty professor- throwing himself through anomalies and jumping after whatever creature came out of them. I curse Helen for killing him and I'm glad she got her comeupends- though now with the Cutters dead, I doubt we'll ever find out where the anomalies came from. I wish they'd make more Sherlock soon. I can't believe they keep putting in a two year hiatus! I petition to Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss to write more soon because, one, Sherlock is alive and that needs explaining, and two, there are a load of other Conan Doyle stories that they can cover. My money is on the first episode of the next series being about the Empty House (it will more than likely be called the Empty Flat or something like that). Being Human- by the time I've finished this, the last ever series will have probably aired, which is a very depressing thought. I've enjoyed all of it, even though Mitchell and George's deaths had me in tears (yeah, I'm an emotional person, but I'd rather that than be an emotionless pit). Eve was only two weeks old when her father died for crying out loud! I know it's based in a supernatural/ slightly normal reality but no kid or parent deserves that. The only good that came of that is the entire family being together again. I pity both Mitchell and Hal because they are constantly struggling with who they are. If vampires ever existed and I became one of them, I'd probably stake myself (sounds selfish, I know, but it would also protect other people, and that's what's important). As I say, it isn't real so there's no reason to ruminate about such matters (though I have done- contradictory, but never mind)... I'm updating from when I last wrote this paragraph. Oh my god! What an ending! I'm so glad that they can now all lead a normal life and Hal hasn't got the problem of having vampire MPD. The ending was lovely with the camera panning onto things that belonged to them, Mitchell, George, Annie, Nine and Eve. Dare I say it, I was happier with this ending than Merlin- curse me for such blasphemy, but there you go. TMNT has got to be one of my old favourites. I can't say that I've watched the 2012 series, but I doubt anything can beat the 2003. I loved the story lines for this and the brothers' relationship. Splinter's odd moments crack me up as well (Leo's face in the 'Ultimate Ninja' when his dad and April were discussing shampoo- LOL!). I've recently watched through every single episode after years but it was nice. Personally, I think the 7th series meandered a bit and the ending could have been a bit better- i.e. what happened to Darius Dunn? And how did Serling get back to the future, because he wasn't in TMNT Forever? Nevermind, it doesn't stop the turtles from being off the chart. My favourite character is Leo because of how he's constantly watching out for his family even when he's injured. I seriously respect this character for such dedication, though I swear he got the brunt of it the most- he was beaten up and stabbed for crying out loud! Still, love this programme! Beast Wars/Beast Machines- yes, this programme may be thirteen or so years old, but it something I loved whilst going through the first stages of growing up. Cheetor is definitely my favourite character and I love how he was developed as the series went along- a few people think that his Transmetal 2 form was ugly, but I actually think it suited him. Plus, I don't think the process he went through would have made him look as slick Optimus (but then Optimus was influenced by Prime's spark). I think the only normal Transmetal was Dinobot's clone- I'm glad he saw the light in the end. Also, is it just me but, although Optimus scolded him a lot, he was always ready to jump into action when Cheetor especially was hurt or threatened- that's been bugging me for a while, and I'm thinking of putting my ideas into a fic. I also noticed a lot of modern day sayings, for example "Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Optimus!" And I swear that the original Dinobot was quoting Hamlet at one point. Added to the light-heartidness of the show if you ask me. Also Top Gear- I LOVE the Bugatti Veyron (not the Super Sport, just the classic with its 1000 bhp). The specials are brilliant and constantly crack me up- who saw the last one where they searched for the source of the Nile (none of those car were really sensible, even for estates- I have it on good authority). My favourite thing they've done/ tries to do is the amphibious cars because that was cause for some serious entertainment. Fave books: HP (again), and I keep going back to these because I love the story line and the writing style (I do English A level, so apologies if I go analytical on you (then again, I sometimes find it hard to analyse and not tell a story)). Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini- DRAGONS!!! I love dragons! I don't care if they are mythological beasts and are not actually real, they are still the finest creatures in... well not existence, but in the imagination. If anyone has not read this then what have you been doing with your life? I seriously recommend this to anyone. All four books may be seriously long but the story line never gets boring The Sword of Shannara trilogy by Terry Brooks- though I've only just read the first one and am loving the second. I was shocked at the smiliarities between this and other stuff like HP and Inheritance and also the Lord of the Rings. Still, I love good vs evil even if it is the oldest semantic in the book. I love Menion and Flick's relationship at the beginning of the first book- it made me laugh. One of the characters is named Balinor! I had a Merlin moment when I first read that! The Lady of the Rivers by Philippa Gregory- I admit now that I'm a history nut as well as having a love for writing- I plan on doing a History degree at uni. I wouldn't put this book down when I first got it (on holiday in Bournemouth when I should have been on the beach in the nice weather). I love medieval history and we actually studied the Wars of the Roses last year- I am a Lancastrian (I may be atheist/agnostic but I do believe in the Divine Right of the King/Queen, which is why I was never a fan of Oliver Cromwell (he banned Christmas as well, so that was never really good)). The Icefire series by Chris d'Lacey- again with the dragons but I love the modern twist and the dry humour between the characters. Ironic really that David writes considering that he is a work of fiction himself. I have a confession though. I've only read the first five books. Any fans of this, please don't kill me, I feel guilty enough. (I could go on but the list is fairly long) Fave bands (laugh if you want but that will not change anything): ABBA Take That Linkin Park Imagine Dragons The Script Lindsey Stirling Hollywood Undead Muse Bastille The Kings of Leon Mumford and Sons 30 Seconds to Mars THIS WEEK'S RECOMMENDATION: LAUGHTER LINES by BASTILLE Current projects: Heirs of the Lost- Torchwood The Rise of the Legend- Merlin Possible future projects (and I emphasise possible): TMNT (1) Beast Wars (1) Transformers (1) (though I may change this to be a Beast Wars fic) Avengers (1) How To Train Your Dragon (1) Clash of the Titans/ Wrath of the Titans (1) I AM LEAVING THESE UNTIL I FINISH THE ONES I AM WORKING ON |
