Hi everyone, welcome on my profile. Salut tout le monde et bienvenue sur mon profil.

Here are the best fanfictions that I have read on Harry Potter. You will only find in this list well-written fanfictions, coherent and realistic, both in English and in French (more in English than in French actually), with a few exceptions. Read the critics for futher information.

Voici les meilleurs fanfictions Harry Potter que j'ai lu jusqu'à présent. Vous ne trouverez dans cette liste que des fanfictions bien écrites, cohérentes et réalistes, en langue anglaise ou française (majoritairement en anglais), à quelques exceptions près. Lisez les critiques pour en savoir plus.

What I like: Slytherin!Harry, Dark!Harry, Twin!Harry (only when the twin is a boy, I don't like Girl-Who-Lived stories), and some Abused!Harry fics (it is usually linked to Slytherin!Harry by the way). I also do like some time traveller fics, but they must be very very good to interest me. I am usually not looking for that kind of fic. I don't care about the pairing, as long as it is coherent and realistic.

Ce que j'aime: les fics avec Harry à Serpentard, Harry utilisant la magie noire, Harry ayant un jumeau (seulement les cas où Harry a un frère jumeau, je n'aime pas les histoires mettant en scène une Fille-Qui-A-Survécu), et les fics où Harry est victime d'abus (Harry est souvent envoyé à Serpentard dans ces cas-là). J'aime également quelques fics avec pour thème le voyage dans le temps, mais dans ce cas, elles doivent être vraiment bonnes pour m'intéresser. En général, ce n'est pas vraiment le style de fic que je recherche. Je me fiche pas mal des couples, tant que ça reste cohérent et réaliste.

What I dislike (therefor you will never see that type of fic in my list): SLASH. Why? I have absolutely nothing against homosexuals. In fact, I just really REALLY don't care about homosexuality. But the problem of slash is that it is always completely incoherent with the HP universe. Come on, SnapeXLupin? HarryXDraco? No way! Or even Voldy with anyone? THAT's not realistic at all. The only one realistic pairing might be Charlie Weasley with an OC... I also don't like fics with explicit sex. I just do not see the point. I do not like crossover, with other universe or between an AU and canon universe... (with the exception of the Dark Prince Trilogy). I don't like the addition of OC as Harry's friend in Slytherin. I don't really think it is necessary, there are enough characters in J.K.Rowling universe. I also don't like OC in general, except for the twin!Harry stories of course.

Ce que je n'aime pas (et que vous ne verez pas dans ma liste de fic): le SLASH. Pourquoi? Je n'ai rien contre les homosexuels, soyons clairs. En fait, je me fiche complètement de connaitre la sexualité des gens. Mais le problème du slash, c'est que c'est toujours complètement incohérent avec l'univers d'HP. Sérieusement, RogueXLupin? HarryXDraco? Pas moyen ! Ou même Voldy avec qui que ce soit? Ce n'est pas réaliste pour deux sous. Le seul couple réaliste pourrait être Charlie Weasley avec un OC... Je n'aime pas également les fics qui contiennent du sexe. Je ne vois pas l'intérêt de ce genre d'histoires. Je n'aime pas non plus les crossovers, avec d'autres univers étrangers à HP ou entre un univers HP alternatif et l'univers du canon... (avec l'exception de The Dark Prince Trilogy). Je n'aime pas l'ajout d'OC comme ami d'Harry à Serpentard. Je ne pense pas que de tels ajouts soient nécessaires, il y a assez de personnages dans l'univers créé par J.K.Rowling. En fait, je n'aime pas les OC en général, exception faite des histoires où Harry a un jumeau bien sûr.

I also try to be as objective as possible, criticizing mostly the originality, the writting, and the coherence. The second part of the list concerns French fanfics.

Critic: Very interesting fic. The beginning is strange, really strange because it is not exactly canon-compliant (Dumbledore is still alive after the war). Harry is not all powerful like in some fic, but have a decent amount of power. A time traveller Harry in Slytherin is actually a great idea because many things change from the canon, and not everything goes as Harry planned. Very well-written and realistic, a very good beginning confirmed by book two and three! A bonus with Slytherin politic. It is perhaps the most developped fic (and the best one) on that point!

[COMPLETE] Travel Secrets: Second by E4mj

Summary: Harry has returned in time after one too many things went wrong, his careful plans have been messed up, so he's trying a few new things. He's searching for the diary, but while things are similar, his presence has altered enough to keep him on his toes!

[ABANDONED] Travel Secrets: Third by E4mj

Summary: Harry is now going into his 3rd year again and it's getting complicated. Sirius still escaped, and Harry has to deal with Slytherin politics and some extra timetravel on top of old drama. Rescuing Sirius is the number one mission, but things keep reverting, and Harry is worried he can't change a thing.

Critic: Perhaps the best one so far, except if you don't like Slytherin politics. Harry is mostly trying to become the King of Slytherin, but in a very strange way. Harry also tries to prove Sirius innocence, but it is not as easy as he thought. Amazing fic, still coherent with the rest. You will appreciate a smart Harry, and the battle to become the King. It is very well written!

ABANDONED] A Chance in Time by MachiavellianParadox

Summary: Having won the war, a tired Harry goes back in time to try to kill Tom Riddle as a child. What he did not predict however, was becoming attached to the boy. Realising that he couldn't kill him, Harry pretends that Tom is his brother in hopes of changing him and thus changing the future for the better.

Critic: My little favorite. The relationship between Tom and Harry is very interesting. I just love this fic, as it is original: Harry is not perfect, yet he does his best. Tom is just a little boy and act his age. Great fic, but the update rate is very slow...

Summary: A man lost in the sands of time is back with a vengeance. And this time, it will take more than a dark lord to quench his thirst.

Critic: Really nice fic. I like it a lot because of the future Harry comes from. Not everthing was perfect once Voldemort was destroyed. Harry is powerful but it does not mean he can do whatever he wants. Things are far more complex, and it is what makes the story interesting.

Summary: Snape goes back in time, holding the knowledge of what is to come if he fails. No longer holding a grudge, he seeks to shape Harry into the greatest wizard of all time, starting on the day Hagrid took Harry to Diagon Alley.

Critic: Great fic, and original. Snape is definitelly a great character and this fic puts him forward in a good way. It is also coherent and well-written. One of my first time travel fic and definitely a great one.

Summary: 19 years after the war with Voldemort Harry Potter is thrown 25 years into the past, arriving just before the start of his first year at Hogwarts. CURRENTLY IN YEAR FOUR.

Critic: Not very original, but nice anyway. It is canon-compliant, the story start just after the last chapter of the Deathly Hallows. The author is not introducing anything new in the rewritting of the canon, except that Harry is solving many of the problem earlier, like Siris Black's innocence. It is well-written, but too basic, with Harry being a Phoenix animagus for example. It is still coherent and realistic enough, despite the fact that sometimes, everything seems to be too perfect. However, Harry has to deal with his grief of loosing his family and the change of time-travelling. You will have a good time reading it, except if you are looking for something really original.

Summary: In a world with a pragmatic, intelligent Voldemort, Harry discovers that he has the power to live, die and repeat until he gets it right.

Critic: This fic could qualify as time travel in a way. Harry is a survivor, the world around him is realistic and brutal. This fic shows that Rowling got it easy on Harry in canon. Amazing fic, almost complete. The update rate was incredible, especially considering the quality of the story ! RATED M FOR A REASON (strong violence).

Summary: As per the Hat's decision, Harry gets Sorted into Slytherin upon his arrival in Hogwarts—and suddenly, the future isn't what it used to be.

Summary: Harry's relatives were shocked when the Hogwarts letters came. Not because Harry got into Hogwarts. They had expected that. But Dudley, on the other hand...That had been a surprise.

Critic: Original and well-written fic! A magical Dudley is indeed something quite new. There are also some changes compared to the canon, even if the story still follows the canon. In short, it is original and not just a rewriting of the canon with Dudley included. Harry does not turn evil! He is a great Slytherin without being dark or bad. The story is also realistic, also you don't expect Dudley's parents to react like that...

[COMPLETE] Enveloped in the Darkness by Brigade

Summary: Harry was left at an orphanage after his parents met their demise. There, he finds nothing but suffering until he rejoins the Wizarding World. Dumbledore may hope for Harry to be a kind soul, but he's made mistakes. And what he gets is a future Death Eater. Harry is Dark, Harry is ruthless, and he is siding with Voldemort.

Critic: Harry is not a Tom Riddle bis, even if he looks like one. The story is well-written, coherent and realistic. Harry is dark and siding with Voldemort, but it is the result of a process, and it is not that easy. What Harry is going through is described. The relationship between Harry and Voldemort is also very interesting!

[ABANDONED] Embraced by the Darkness by Brigade

Summary: There is a reason why everyone wants a piece of Harry Potter; the twelve-year-old is considered a prodigy by the Wizarding World, after all. But Harry has chosen his side. The Headmaster and Minister of Magic can try as they might - Harry is a dark wizard. Now...if only he could get in touch with the elusive, recently resurrected Voldemort.

Summary: Neville is the Boy-Who-Lived, Harry Potter just another orphan. Without the scar on his forehead Harry is free to choose his own path. His Slytherin sorting is only the first surprise to his parents' old friends.

Critic: A very interesting fic and a great idea. First time I'm reading a fic where Harry is not the Chosen One. It does not make it less interesting, as Harry is still an orphan, and in Slytherin, to the surprise of everyone who knew his parents. Follow just another orphan in Slytherin, and how he deals with the Chosen One and with his godfather Sirius.

[COMPLETE] Harry Potter and the Slytherin Selection by DrizzleWizzle

Summary: At Madam Malkin's, Harry Potter introduces himself to Draco Malfoy. Draco offers to help Harry navigate the bizarre, new wizarding world, and Harry accepts. While Harry finds magic to be strange and amazing, there is no class to teach Harry about the complexities of friendship and social life in Slytherin...

Critic: Nice fic, but very short. Fortunately, it is only the beginning of a serie. A good Slytherin!Harry fic, basic but still nice. A good rewriting of the canon with Harry in Slytherin, and a less stupid Harry than in canon. This fic is nothing more, there are not original addition to the story of the canon, so it is really "what would have happened with a Slytherin Harry?". The politic in Slytherin is not great, but it is a good beginning. In short, a good start for a good serie!

[COMPLETE] Harry Potter and the Heir of Slytherin by DrizzleWizzle

Summary: The Heir of Slytherin stalks the halls of Hogwarts, and suspicions have turned toward Harry Potter. Harry is certain that he is not the Heir. He'd remember if he were petrifying students... right? But why is Harry's best friend, Draco Malfoy, so excited to discover that he can talk to snakes?

Critic: The sequel of Book I. I think everyone will enjoy what happen to the Dursley... Harry is definitely to naive, but still, the story is good, even if not very original. A rewriting without any real important addition, but interesting and nice. Hopefully, the story is longer than the first one, and more developed.

[COMPLETE] Harry Potter and the Dementors of Azkaban by DrizzleWizzle

Summary: Harry Potter is thirteen years old, and suddenly there's plenty of flirting at Hogwarts. Flirting with witches, flirting with trouble, and even flirting with dark magic. When Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban, Harry's quest for revenge brings him dangerously close to the very darkness he's been trying to defeat.

Critic: Book III, nice but as the rest, nothing really original in the story. Harry is still too naive for some stuff. But it is still great to see the development of a Harry in Slytherin, especially when he is friend with Draco Malfoy. [COMPLETE] Harry Potter and the Tri-Wizard Tournament by DrizzleWizzle

Summary: Harry Potter is Slytherin's Tri-Wizard Champion. Witches want him. Wizards want to be him. Death Eaters want to kill him. Even though Harry's selection is an attempt on his life, Harry doesn't see any reason not to enjoy the benefits of being a Champion… especially when that means snogging shapely witches. But will Harry become distracted from his primary goal: survival?

The story is also longer than the previous one, being more and more developed. The fifth year will be interesting!

[COMPLETE] Harry Potter and the Emerald Trance by DrizzleWizzle

Summary: It is a dark time for Harry Potter. Voldemort is secretly amassing power, and only Dumbledore's Order of the Phoenix opposes him. Abandoned, libeled, loathed and reviled, Harry has few allies and fewer options. Harry must learn to control his powerful and mysterious emerald trance; if he cannot, Harry will be consumed by darkness.

Summary: After Voldemort was revealed at the Department of Mysteries, open war erupted in the wizarding world. Dumbledore has offered to take Harry as an apprentice, with the goal of teaching Harry sorcery - the manipulation of magic in its purest form. Harry is happy to learn, but Dumbledore seems to have another agenda...

Critic: Ok, the lemon thing was absolutely not announced at the beginning of the fic, so I was a bit surprised. Despite that, this fic is nice ! It is definitelly a bit AU concerning some characters, and with Harry whose not the Boy-Who-Lived, but it is nonetheless very well written, realistic, and coherent. The author has some great ideas, especially concerning Sirius and Fleur.

[COMPLETE] Harry Potter And The Elemental's Power by Raul Fictitious

Summary: A story about Harry in Slytherin house wielding the elder wand and the powers of an elemental. Features annoying Weasley's, an OFC, a flawed but good Dumbledore, an indifferent Snape and lots and lots of twists.

Critic: This is a completely different style of fic compared to what I usually read. But it is great! Very well-written, original, coherent with itself, good development of the universe. All in all, an interesting fic, which has nothing to do with the canon (except the beginning of the story). The story is also almost finished! Read it if you like new and very original stories. But if you want something more canon, don't read it, you might not like it.

[COMPLETE] Harry Potter: A Slytherin Tale by RhamielAngel

Summary: Harry gets sorted in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor and becomes sort of friend with Malfoy. But life is not easy at Hogwarts, especially in Slytherin.

Critic: This is canon Harry in Slytherin. This fic is very good because Draco Malfoy's personality is respected, AND he is Harry's friend. There is also an OC (and I am not a huge fan of OC, which explain 4 instead of 5... They are enough characters in Harry Potter, no need to create new one). Despite that, it is very interesting to see how Harry interact with Draco and sort out his first year.

[ABANDONED] The Chamber of Secrets: The Second Slytherin Tale by RhamielAngel

Summary: Life as a Slytherin is especially difficult for Harry this year. With everyone accusing him of being the heir of Slytherin, his two best friends abandoning him to save their own skin, and a pompous new teacher, how will Harry survive his second year?

Critic: Continuation of the previous one, but abandoned. Reactions of Draco and OC are still realistic and in character, which is the most interesting thing in this fic. But it is abandoned...

[COMPLETE] Better Be Slytherin! by jharad17

Summary: As a first year, Harry is sorted into Slytherin instead of Gryffindor, and no one is more surprised than his new Head of House. YEAR ONE COMPLETE.

Critic: Very good fic, perhaps a bit too realistic sometimes. The situation with the Dursley is worse than in the canon. It is very well written. This fic is mainly about the relationship between Harry and Snape, changing POV from one chapter to another. It is very phsychological, and centered on the feelings of both characters. Shame that the author did not continue it...

[COMPLETE] What if the world turned its head sideways by hybrid2

Summary: What would happen if Harry had met the twins in Diagon Alley? YEAR TWO COMPLETE.

Critic: I have to reread it. I remember it as very good and canon compliant. I first expected Harry to be the perfect Gryffindor, but not at all. A very good fic, complete for the first two years of Harry Potter at Hogwarts.

[ABANDONED] Harry Potter and the Hero's Path by TheJackOfDiamonds

Summary: Ritually abused by the Dursley's, young Harry Potter learns to count on himself. After discovering magic at a young age, he practices to become stronger to protect those weaker than him. He escapes form Privet Drive with his two best friends before his 11th bithday, leaving Dumbledore confused and desperate to find him. Eventually, he is drawn back into the magical world. CURRENTLY IN YEAR FOUR.

Critic: Very very good fanfiction, very well written. It is coherent and realistic for a powerful and independant Harry. Harry does not start in first year, and Dumbledore must adapt to him. Lots of humoristic scenes. Even if you are reluctant to a Harry not following the canon, it is not a problem at all here, as the story is coherent. Just be prepared to stay a bit longer in the muggle world! The interaction of Harry with his adopted family are also very well described and quite realistic.

[ABANDONED] Dark Apprentice by padawan lynne

Summary: When Voldemort decides to take Harry Potter as his apprentice instead of killing him, the Wizarding World is in for a shock. Goodbye Harry Potter, hello Lord Raiden.

Cette fanfiction reprend l'histoire du canon, tout en incluant des éléments originaux, avec notamment la présence d'un OC comme meilleure amie de Harry. Les jeux politiques sont assez inexistants comparés à d'autres fics, mais l'histoire reste intéressante. Une excellente réécriture du canon, avec une pointe d'originalité pour rendre les choses intéressantes, mais pas trop quand même pour éviter trop de dérives. Bien écrit, cohérent et réaliste, LA fic à lire si vous êtes francophones.

Si vous avez lu le premier tome, vous lirez celui-là aussi sans le moindre doute. Je n'ai pas grand chose à dire pour vous convaincre.

Harry se fait progressivement de nouveaux alliés, et fait preuve d'un esprit de déduction remarquable (peut être un peu trop remarquable même). Bref, une histoire toujours aussi passionnante, qui se détache du canon par l'absence de la reprise des titres de chapitre officiels (contrairement aux précédents tomes). L'histoire gagne en assurance.

L'approche des Serpentard est définitivement très intéressante ! Plusieurs surprises tout au long de ce tome, notamment une qui est sans doute le rêve de tout fan de HP. Voyez-vous de quoi je parles? Vous comprendrez une fois arrivé au chapitre 35.

Critique: Petite fic découverte il n'y a pas longtemps. Totalement originale, cohérente et réaliste (même si la personnalité de Harry ne correspond pas trop à celle d'un enfant "maltraité" et vivant dans un placard, mais bon...). Beaucoup d'humour et de répartie, bien écrit, et très critique vis-à-vis de l'oeuvre de Rowling. L'auteur nous montre un peu à quel point les sorciers manquent de bon sens et d'esprit critique, en apportant des solutions très originales aux différents problèmes que Harry rencontrent. Harry est un petit génie, mais cela reste réaliste. Il arrive à faire ce qu'il fait par le travail et l'entrainement, et non pas grâce à des dons exceptionnels et irréalistes. Cette fic est une vraie bouffée d'air frais ! Et pas d'ajouts d'OC, et l'auteur respecte à peu près les caractères des persos de JK Rowling. A lire, pour passer un très bon moment et bien rigoler !

Mais quand il se retrouve à Serpentard, les choses commencent à empirer, surtout que son frère ne se gêne pas pour lui pourrir la vie.

Critique: Oui, le titre est en anglais, mais non, ce n'est pas une fic anglaise (bien que l'auteur a dû lire les HP en anglais, parce qu'on dirait parfois une traduction...). Cette fic est la meilleur fic française sur le sujet : Harry a un jumeau, et celui-ci est considéré à tord comme le Garçon-Qui-A-Survécu. J'ai beaucoup accroché, c'est cohérent et bien écrit, mais j'ai moins aimé la fin, qui devient trop UA à mon goût, mais qui n'en reste pas moins très bonne... Ceci dit, le début est excellent, et on ne peut s'arrêter de lire ! Dommage qu'elle soit abandonnée... Mais bon, vous avez quand même 72 chapitres avant de voir le bout.

Résumé: Dumbledore se trompe d'élu et désigne Evan à la place d'Harry, son jumeau... Les Potter abandonnent Harry au Dursley mais celui-ci n'arrivera jamais jusqu'à eux... Il croisera plutôt la route des Snape.

Critique: Oui je sais, je n'aime pas le slash. Je n'aime pas non plus les fautes d’orthographe aberrantes. MAIS cette fic m'a énormément fait rire. Elle est complètement dingue et délirante, malgré quelques incohérences et événements assez peu probables. Le slash n'est pas trop choquant, il arrivera beaucoup plus tard dans l'histoire (même si je trouve personnellement qu'il y a un peu trop de personnages homosexuels vers la fin, au niveau des chapitres 50 et des brouettes, mais bon...). Vous avez donc le temps de lire et bien rigoler avant de vous arrêter si vous n'aimez pas le slash. Bref, un très bon moment passé à lire cette fic (si on ne fait pas attention aux fautes qui sont quand même assez scandaleuses...). Mention spéciale pour l'auteur pour son sens de la répartie qui est très bien retranscrit à travers ses personnages. J'ai particulièrement apprécié voir Dumbledore sortir de ses gonds... On en apprend aussi des belles sur le directeur de Poudlard x)

Un an après, son retour est officiel. 1994. L'école de Salem est conviée au tournoi des Tois Sorciers. Au milieu de la délégation, trois personnes détonnent. Qui ? Oh, juste les Evans !

Critique: Enormissime ! Ne serait-ce que pour la description de la société sorcière américaine, cette fic est un must read ! En plus de cela, c'est très drôle et rafraîchissant ! Concernant le slash, il ne sera quasiment pas présent (notamment à cause de l'écart d'âge), donc pas de soucis à se faire. Cette fic est également très sombre et réaliste, mais c'est un véritable plaisir à lire, bien écrite et cohérente. Gros coup de coeur pour le système américain.

[EN COURS] Harry Potter, ou l'histoire du garçon oublié de Wildside

Résumé: Le 31 octobre, Harry Potter vainquit le seigneur des ténèbres, mais par erreur, Dumbledore décréta que son petit frère, Matthew Potter, était le véritable élu. Suite à cette méprise, sa vie s'en trouvera fortement modifiée, et celui qui aurait dû être le garçon auréolé de gloire devînt celui dont personne ne se souciait.

Critique: Une fic extrêmement originale, car elle se passe dans le passé, juste avant et pendant la prise de pouvoir de Napoléon Ier en France (donc dans les années 1790). L'idée de base peut paraitre saugrenue, mais la fic est excellente, et les recherches historiques derrières sont très complètes. Un cours d'histoire sur fond d'Harry Potter, que demander de plus? Je recommande pour tous les passionnés d'Histoire. Le bashing est parfois un peu abusif, mais cela reste néanmoins très bien !

Résumé: Juin 1996. Harry se réveille et se retrouve dans une réalité alternative dans laquelle il est mort lui aussi la nuit du 31 Octobre 1981. Le Survivant n'a donc jamais existé et Voldemort règne en maître depuis 15 ans. Harry retrouve rapidement ses amis qui le font prisonnier ne sachant pas qui il est. Croiront-ils son histoire ? C'est vraiment sympa de voir comment les différents personnages gèrent l'après-guerre. L'objectif est donc de remplir le vide laissé entre l'avant-dernier et le dernier chapitre des Reliques de la Mort. C'est bien écrit, cohérent et réaliste.

Cette fic explique très bien les sentiments de Harry et les développe. Très bonne fic, mais vous êtes prévenus. Âmes sensibles, s'abstenir.

On a un petit aperçu de l'éducation des enfants sorciers avant Poudlard, ce qui est intéressant et original. Mais âmes sensibles, s'abstenir.
