![]() Author has written 15 stories for Harry Potter, and Twilight. 08/05/2020: Long story short; after my last note, my father got seriously ill. So far, he has had two serious surgeries (the last one was just three days ago), with at least one more in the coming months. I'm out a lot of money, I'm emotionally drained and physically exhausted. I'm just... really tired guys. Writing is the last thing on my mind right now. I'm sorry if that disappoints you, but I have to take care of myself first. I hope I'll be able to return to writing soon. 09/09/2019: Okay, the good news first. I'm back and actively working on new chapters for a number of my WIPs. I won't push my luck, meaning I won't force myself to focus on one story if the inspiration isn't there, but hopefully, I'll have new chapters ready for the majority of my stories soon. Now the bad news. I'm no longer interested in the Twilight fandom. I haven't been in some time, but I thought I might return to it, eventually. Unfortunately, I didn't. I don't even hate it, I'm just indifferent to it, which is worse. What does that mean? Well, I won't be writing Secrets (the revised, more character/plot driven version of Fate is such a b...witch) that's for sure. I'm already struggling to find the motivation to finish the story as it is. I don't think I have it in me to start it all over again. So that story idea is officially scrapped. As for Fate itself, and Choices, worry not, I do intend to finish those. I owe it to my readers to see both stories to the end, and Fate is almost done as it is; there are only a handful of chapters left. Choices, on the other hand, is just beginning; thankfully, I'm very interested in the plot of the story, so I hope I'll have the inspiration to finish it as quickly as possible. I don't feel comfortable offering a time table; God knows I'm not very good at keeping those, but chances are high that I'll post a new chapter around October. 21/06/2018: Hello, As you can see, I've updated most of my stories, with the exception of Rewriting History; the story is slowly being revised, so I won't post any chapter until it's done. I will, however, post the revised chapters to my AO3 account - same penname, - so you can check them out and read the new version. There's a lot of new material, and the Prologue is completely rewritten, so you are for a surprise. The other reason I'm writing this is a lovely review I received to that story; note the sarcasm. I've been lucky, I'll admit; most of my readers are wonderful and so patient, that I normally don't have to deal with trolls and bullies. That particular idiot made me so angry, I'll admit, the thought of giving up crossed my mind. Don't worry, I won't; after calming down, I realised I love writing too much, to allow entitled jerks ruin it for me. But it made me realise how unhealthy and toxic this site is for authors. The administrators banned MA rated material to protect underage readers (when they could have easily make changes to ensure only signed members could read those stories,) and they enforce the rules, but they do nothing about the harassment the authors get. When I first joined, the site allowed you to disable anonymous reviews, thus costing those cowards the advantage of hiding behind anonymity - and let's be honest, one of the reasons those bullies thrive is because they can post what they like, and we are unable to answer them back. They are safe, and we are victimised by them. And the administrators do nothing about it. They erased that feature, instead enabling 'guest reviews', taking the only defence we had. Now, we are forced to read those toxic messages, and choose to delete them if we want. But what's the point? What's the point of having the choice to delete a review, when we already had to read it? The damage is already done. I don't know, I've been thinking of moving away from this site for some time now, but I'm really fond of it; this is where I first stumbled upon the world of fanfiction, where I first posted a story of my own. This site is special to me, but... As much as I love it, I can't willingly keep subjecting myself to that kind of behaviour. It's not good for me. There are other sites, much more user friendly - like AO3. I'll be doing some serious thinking about that, but in the meantime, I'll try to keep up a more regular update schedule, and finish some more chapters of History's revision. Before I do anything, I'll let you guys know. I'm so incredible honoured feather-rain24 asked me to act as her beta for her first story, A Lycanthrope's Mate; it's a Remus/Hermione centric story, so it's new territory for me! If any of you are certified betas, and you are interest to act as her main beta (since I'm not a native English speaker), please contact her or me. Also, you should definitely give her story a chance; it's really good!* In case the site decides to ban external links again, I'm including the full address of my sites here. Just to be safe. Regarding plagiarism: Fate is such a b...witch has been plagiarized twice; thanks to my lovely readers, the plagiarizers were forced to take down the stories. I don't believe I have to say how wrong plagiarism is; these are our stories, our hard work, and to have someone else take credit for them... It doesn't feel good. I don't understand why someone would do that; how can someone accept praise for a story they didn't create? When they know they don't deserve it? I understand some people might feel insecure about their writing, I do too, but that doesn't entitle you to stealing someone else's hard work! Reporting a plagiarised story, and the plagiariser doesn't make you a tattle tale (yes, I'd some people tell me they didn't feel comfortable reporting a plagiariser, because they felt like a snitch!); it makes you a decent person. I have no issues with people using my ideas for their own stories, if they ask for permission; but there's a vast difference between using the basic idea of a story and stealing the whole story! I've used spells, basic plot ideas, etc from other authors, hell Wish me Luck is a continuation of a one shot by another writer, but you know what I did first? Asked permission from the author. Yes, it's that simple. And if the author denies you, do the decent thing; accept their wishes. Additionally, I cannot stress enough how ridiculous it sounds when a plagiariser says that 'they didn't steal the story because they're planning on taking it in a different direction than the original author/will use a different pairing/the scenes are different because s/he uses different words'. News flash: you're still stealing another person's work, and yes, it's still wrong. If you find a plagiarised story, report the plagiariser immediately, and notify the original author. Specifically for my stories, if you find them under any other penname other than waterflower20, and waterflower_20, please inform me. Regarding my stories: When I started writing fanfiction, I had no writing experience whatsoever, and I'd chosen to write in my second language, so – as you can imagine, – my earlier stories don't reflect my best work. I'm not arrogant enough to believe that in the five years I'm writing fictional stories I've become an expert (I know I have a lot to learn if I want to someday publish my own book), but I'd like to believe my writing has improve. So, I've decided to revise my stories (with the exception of Fate is such a b...witch), to fix some editorial and characterization issues; one of my biggest weaknesses when I first started here, was the fact I couldn't seem to keep my characters in character even when I tried.* I've been steadily editing my first story, Wish me Luck, and after I'm done, I will start on Rewriting History. I think, out of all my stories, RH will be the most heavily revised; there are a lot of things I want to change, including the characterization, and the prologue has already been split in two chapters because I added a lot of new material, and rewrote a large part of it. So, unlike my other stories where I can switch the revised chapters with the published ones, RH won't be updated until I'm done with the revision. I'm really sorry, but it's for the best. As for why I don't plan to revise Fate, the reason is simple; among my first stories, this has the biggest characterization problem. I could revise the chapters, yes, but after I started doing that, I realised I'd have to change a large portion of the story, alter a lot of scenes, and add a lot of new material to fix all of its issues. And I simply couldn't do that, not because I was bored, but because Fate is my most popular story, with nearly two thousand reviews; I wouldn't feel right with changing such a large part of the story, and keep those reviews, not when they wouldn't reflect the new material. My original plan was to simply discontinue Fate and start from scratch; but after so many of my readers expressed their disappointment, I didn't feel right letting them down. In the end, I decided the best course of action was to finish Fate as it is, and rewrite the whole damn thing after I'm done; I have already outlined the first few chapters, and I can tell you that it feels like a completely different story. Of course, there were cases where I deliberately had a character behave OoC, like Draco in Fate, and warned my readers accordingly (but somehow, I still got reviews complaining about it), and this doesn't apply to stories where the characters are adults – age changes people, and whoever claims otherwise is either delusional, or an idiot. Not to mention, that as the writer, I know exactly why a character behaves a certain way, and how the past howmany years have changed him/her. Also, I'd really like to add this; someone told me that I 'should be a better writer since you are twenty-something' even though I've said a dozen times that the only writing experience I have is fanfiction. Apparently that individual seems to think that the older you are, the better your writing is, no matter of your experience or lack of. To that person I'd like to say: you are an idiot. I know sixteen year olds who write better than published authors three times their age, and I know published authors *coughE.L.Jamescough* whose writing makes me want to gouge my eyes out. I never claimed I have amazing talent, but I'm trying my best, and unlike some people, I have the nerve to post my stories online, and open myself to the possibility of ridicule. Because this is something I love. |
