Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter, Drop Dead Diva, Fairy Tales, Mythology, Lord of the Rings, and Beauty and the Beast.

ABOUT ME:

Hi! I'm Kelly. I'm 25 years old, and I've been writing fan fiction since the second grade (my first "novel" was inspired by The Secrets of Droon series). My favorite fandoms are Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast, Once Upon a Time, and Drop Dead Diva as I love fantasy worlds and smart, strong female characters. I've been on this site since middle school and started posting when I was in high school, so definitely has a special place in my heart, especially since it's how I first became involved with editing other people's work. Until the organization disbanded, I was a beta for Project Team Beta, and it was rewarding to read people's original creative works and help them improve as writers.

I do also write original poetry and fiction, but aside from "Barren" and the start of The Lonely Road of a Fisher's Wife, I don't post it online. However, I am in the process of writing an original novel that I'm determined to finish by May. If you're a fan of my work and would like to be a beta for my novel (I'm looking for three or four), please send me a PM, and we can talk. This novel is an apocalyptic speculative fiction piece that begins in Pilsen, Chicago, and moves throughout the Midwest; the main character, Mari, is a 16-year-old Latina. I don't want to ruin people's impressions of the novel, so that's all the detail I'll give unless you send me a PM. Please be at least 13, as the target demographic for the novel is YA, and there is a lot of crude language just in the first chapter.

Please note that I intend to revise this novel before having beta readers look at it, so I'm looking for this to be a commitment during August. My goal is to begin sending query letters in October, so I'd like to have all beta edits/feedback addressed and integrated by then. If I fall behind and this schedule changes at all, I'll be sure to let everyone know.

MY ATTITUDE TOWARD FAN FICTION:

I'm a bit of a literary snob; I really dislike bad writing. There is so much good writing out in the universe that it makes sense to read that instead of the garbage that gets published when it shouldn't. Even though fan fiction is a looked-down-upon genre, I try to do all that I can to make it as legitimate as possible. I do research (to an extent) to make sure that my story complies with canon, unless its AU-ness is paramount to the story; I revise my chapters at least a bit before I post them, and I do all that I can to make sure that the story is not only engaging and Mary Sue-less, but well-edited. I'm not perfect, but I try my best, and I do hold myself and my stories to a very high standard.

I just wish the same for my fellow writers. I know we all come to this site with varying ages and levels of experience, but I have seen some atrocious writing out there, and I wish that instead of only giving it praise, more readers and writers would critique other authors and give them valuable feedback. The quality of the writing on this site will NOT improve unless we make it a priority to help the writers improve.

MY STORIES:

Hermione Granger and the Magic Mirror (WIP - 97% complete)

Rating: T Word Count: 75,000 Genre: Romance/Drama Primary Ships: Hermione/Adam, Belle/Draco

A Beauty and the Beast and Harry Potter novel-length crossover. When Hermione finds a magic mirror that leads to 18th century France, she finds herself among brutes, talking candelabras, and uptight clocks. After being discovered as a witch, Hermione is separated from Maurice and flees to a castle where light never shines. With sinister plots underway, Hermione must find Belle's father and reverse the castle's enchantment before all is too late. Meanwhile, Belle, in modern-day Wizarding England, encounters Floo powder, an irascible red-head, and a haughty blonde, and both girls must discover, who could ever learn to love a beast?

The Lonely Road of a Fisher's Wife (WIP - 30% complete)
Rating: T Word Count: 5,380 Genre: Drama/Fantasy

Four years ago, when Krista married Matthew, she never dreamed she'd be penniless and living in her sister's apartment. Or that Matthew would be stupid enough to buy a cottage on the coast of Scotland. A modern and elongated re-telling of the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale "The Fisherman and His Wife." ON HIATUS.

A Little Late-Night Rebellion (COMPLETE)

Rating: T Word Count: 2,500 Genre: Romance/Humor Primary Ship: Jane/Grayson

A Drop Dead Diva one-shot. While working late one night at Harrison & Parker, Jane and Grayson decide to cause a little mayhem. Between playing a strip game in Parker's office, eating Chinese takeout while barefoot, and stealing Kim's old rolling chair, working at a law firm has never been so fun.

FUTURE STORIES:

A Courtly Romance: Sequel to Hermione Granger and the Magic Mirror (WIP - 15% complete)

Rating: T Genre: Drama/Fantasy/Romance Primary Ships: James S. Potter/OC, Albus S. Potter/OC, Lily L. Potter/Scorpius M.

When Isabelle's father, King Adam, decides that she must marry a prince that she doesn't know, she and her mother conspire to send her through a mirror into modern-day Wizarding England. I'm working on the sequel even though I haven't finished the original. Naturally.

Harry Potter and The Little Mermaid Crossover (NOT STARTED)

Rating: ??? Genre: ???

On my profile poll, people have voted that I should do a Harry Potter and The Little Mermaid crossover. I think this would be an interesting challenge since the mermaids in Rowling's world are far different from those in either Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale or in the Disney film. After I finish A Courtly Romance, I'll begin to develop a concept for this. I'm open to suggestions, so if you have ideas, please let me know!
