I've been a lurker here for a long time and I finally figured it was time to give something back. I have a backlog of my old writing as well as a list of story ideas that I am fleshing out. Due to Aura and Dust, Human and Faunus mature much quicker mentally, but still lack the experiences to temper the ability to process information. Thus things like structured training produce excellent fighters by puberty due to better mental processing, but good judgement and impulsiveness are still issues.

Neo’s semblance is neither illusions nor teleporting. (To be expounded upon in a later story.)

Other supernatural (for a given value of natural) forces exist in Remnant beyond Salem, Ozpin and the Maidens. These forces are subtle but can provide those they deem worthy with a catalyst to accomplish great feats of will.

I subscribe to the “Sanitized Remnant” theory. It makes much more sense to me that, due both to human nature and the extenuating circumstance of living on a post-apocalyptic death world, sexuality and vice should be commonplace. Thus cannon simply doesn’t address and/or censors cultural lasciviousness.

The idiom “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” applies to Remnant in SO many ways.

If not already planned aliens should be a thing, makes too much sense to me not to include them. Animal people, warped physics (i.e. portals) etc. and hereditary superpowers but aliens aren’t involved. I think not.

Dust can be studied scientifically but functions more like alchemy. There are a few “base” elements that when combined in certain proportions create different effects. Since a significant unit in molecular chemistry is a mole we’ll say that the significant unit in dust alchemy is a bunni (for giggles.) Now natural mixtures are a thing but I would think that they are very potent but also very unstable. Synthetic dust mixtures would be less powerful but more stable. For example 4 bunnies of Fire Dust plus 1 bunni of Earth Dust could be 2 bunnies of Magma Dust. 2 bunnies of Earth, 3 of fire and 3 of Energy (Lightning) could be 3 bunnies of Magnetic Dust. No idea the ratios but that's the gist. Some mixtures are either so costly to convert that they are prohibitive or are inefficient due to technology that can achieve the same result. But some recipes are also either lost or jealously guarded secrets. Some heirlooms are infused with ancient types of dust that cannot be recognized in modern times. Hence “magical” artifacts.
