![]() Author has written 1 story for Naruto, and One Piece. 12/15 yes classes are done... but im taking the GRE on wednesday so I havent really had much time to write. Sorry for the inconvinence but come January I'm pretty much free. Thank you for your patience and I am sorry for the continued delays. Warning I cover Psychological theories and Anatomical methods. M rating. Nothing truely explicit but I do speak of dense material. Nothing worse than my stories About the Gator - I am in the middle of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at a University in the continental United States. - I am a research assistant at my chosen University. Some of the duties this includes are: Proctoring psychological experiments, running complex data analysis, reading masters theses, and a lot of learning the language needed to join future research teams. - My interests in Psychology include: Biopsychology, Forensic Psychology, Abnormal Psychology (Addiction), Developmental Psychology (Childhood and Language), and Traumatic Brain Injury (There are more people who suffer from this then people who suffer from breast cancer in the US alone.) Psychology as a field (Rated M for content. ) - Many people look down on Psychologist and consider the field as a whole more of a pseudo-science then an actual excepted field. To me psychology is the hardest science. It is the study of the single most complex organic body known to man, The Human Brain. o Psychology as a whole draws on multiple fields § The Body is about stimulation. The Brain is about inhibition! § To understanding the Brain: Anatomy, Biology, Organic Chemistry, Math, and Physics to name a few. § To understand a human: sociology, statistics, biodiversity and many more. § I have named the fields that I have personally drawn on during the course of my studies and research. I am a Bachelors student, 4 years out of 8-9 years of schooling, by the time I am actually allowed to open a practice I will likely have studied many more. o You depend on your brain. There is no way around it: no matter whom you are, what you look like, or what you believe in your body takes in stimuli and your brain interprets and reacts to it those stimuli. (Where you go after death is completely up to you. It is not my field of study.) § There are 2 forms of stimulation in the Brain: Hormonal and Electrical. Neurons transmit electrical signals. There are around 40 hormones in the brain that modern science has identified. There are hypothesized to be hundreds to thousands more hormones yet to be discovered… · One hormone can do any number of things in the human body at the same time. (Look up Glutamate in both the eye and the brain) · Hormones actually bridge the gaps between neurons!! No hormone no electrical signal § Gestalt theory: the sum is greater than its parts. § The Human Brain is plastic, it changes overtime, and no two brains are exactly the same. Everyone has the same defining features but there is no “You are Here” Function for the Human Brain. This makes it very difficult to study the human brain and make over writing laws that apply to everyone. o Personally race and gender are the difference of a few hundred thousand pieces of a puzzle that is millions of pieces long. You could be Pink with Purple Polka-Dots so long as you are nice. - Another defining feature of Psychology is its youth. Sigmund Freud, the father of psychology, was born 6 May 1856. This is the first universally accepted person to have considered Psychology to be a separate branch that was not wholly based in the measurements of the skull (Phrenology). o Let’s put it this way, the neuron is basic unit of the nervous system and fundamental portion of the brain. Neurons were hypothesized to exist by Golgi, who received a Nobel Peace Prize for it in 1906. He created a coloring, stain, which allowed the differentiation of individual neurons from the surrounding matter. Where not irrevocably proven until the 1950s with the electron microscope. o This is the first major step in what is to become modern psychology. This happened 263 years after the birth of Isaac Newton. Psychology is very young by scientific standards and it faces challenges that many other sciences do not. Psychology is a science that studies the intricacies of being human. Humans’ have rights and are protected by laws. Psychologists can’t simply fire up the particle accelerator and run hundreds of tests per minute by smashing molecule’s into their subatomic particles. To look for the supposed God Particle. § There are laws set in place to insure the wellbeing of participants in psychology studies and prevent future risk. These laws limit what studies can be run. This is not bad, it’s a very good thing it simply slows progress in certain psychological fields. § Psychology is a rapidly accelerating field that is ever expanding. Psychologists can be found in the military, law enforcement, big industry, residntial businesses and many more places. - My Writing Style and Advice to Other Authors o My writing deviates from the norm. I am a scientist and as such real world research is my inspiration to write fiction. Fantasy must be somehow grounded in reality or there is no way for a reader to comprehend it. As such updates may be few and far between or they may appear every other day. It depends on the amount of time I have and my motivation to write. I am also fickle about writing :/ sad but true. I have multiple ideas in my head at one time and it can take me awhile to sort them out enough that I can focus enough to write about one in particular. o Good stories are based off of great ideas. Do not get tied down in grammar. However the worse the grammar the better the idea must be for readers to continue reading. Do not rush into a story! At least plan out the first few major events before putting pen to paper. The story will change, deviation is a part of life, but it will help keep you grounded during the first few chapters. - Favorites o My Favorite Story by far is The Well Groomed Mind by Lady Khali. It is a look at Harry Potter from the eyes of an absolute fan that utilizes the holes in both the books plot and the sciences to paint a very different picture. She is quite honestly my Idol in terms of Fan fiction. The story is on Hiatus at the moment, she suffers from a chronic illness, but I still reread it from time to time. It is a mature read that looks at the idea of psychological conditioning in Harry Potter and does not paint Dumbledore or the light as the greatest people but it isn’t a true bashing fic. The characters remain true to their cannon selves and Harry is an acurate representation of what a child who was locked in a cupboard on a regular basis would realistically look like. |
