![]() Author has written 6 stories for Fairy Tail, One Piece, Fire Force/炎炎ノ消防隊, and Code Geass. My word, I haven't updated this profile in nearly three years! Time to start anew. To all those who've been following my four stories here: thank you for still reading and supporting Lelouch's Romance Dawn, Embrace the Thunder, Gods' o Flame and Your Burning, Beautiful Light. That's a good journey with some of these universes I've come to love, and I just can't wait to share what my Again, thank you for putting up with me. Hope you all have good days ahead! /!\ Note to reviewers/readers Well, I'll be damned. I'd never thought I'd actually go and write something about this subject, but these past few months, I've received some messages and reviews from die-hard Fairy Tail fans who believe they can just straight out insult writers for having a different opinion about the series, especially when said opinion is mostly negative. They actually tell me to go kill myself. Huh. And to be honest, it finally pissed me the hell off. So here's your warning: if you don't want to take the time to read my message and actually understand what the hell I'm talking about, kindly go on your merry way without insulting the hell out of me. Some of you are not going to like what I'm about to say and I'm not going to apologise for stating my opinion and arguments. If you understand my arguments and consider having a discussion with me about this matter, good for you. Send me a PM. If this rant actually makes you reflect on the fandoms and how fucking revolting they can be because of die-hard fans who refuse to highlight the illogical bullshit about their favourite series and still gush about it mindlessly, that's even better. Send me a PM so we can have a discussion. When a writer decides to write a fanfiction where he/she takes a divergent route than the canon story because he/she has a very different opinion about a character or the whole series, that's because said writer has developed his/her opinion and thinks that some things could have been handled much better in the canon story. But for some reason, the author didn't tackle these matters and that's his/her right. However, if the fanfiction writer develops an opinion that doesn't suit you, I have to ask: why the hell can't the writer have a different opinion about a series and write a fanfiction that reflects his/her opinion? Fanfictions exist for the sole purpose of writing and sharing what your imagination and opinion are about, don't they? I really, really don't know or understand why die-hard fans feel the need to insult a fanfiction writer for having an opinion, because it's just an opinion. Everyone is entitled to one and if you can't take it... well, that's your problem. Let's take an example: me. About the Fairy Tail fandom, which I found to be absolutely revolting. Still do, because the latest insults and attacks I've received finally got me to write this rant. I used to read Fairy Tail and I'll admit it - I enjoyed it at its beginning. I found the manga to be refreshing. It wasn't great, but wasn't bad either - it was just enjoyable, so it doesn't make me a fan. However, I love a good plot that challenges my reflexion and theories, that makes me think and I love watching characters going through characterisation and character growth. Logic is also an excellent factor that makes a series great. And depth. It has to have depth to it. Suffice to say, I fell out of Fairy Tail. I felt like it was starting to go downhill because there was no more characterisation for some characters that could have been great, or handled much better. There was no more logic in every arc after the Tenrou Island Arc and the Grand Magic Games was the last arc I actually read before I finally dropped the series. After this, I thought that it was becoming utter nonsense and was going downhill. The 'power of friendship' was starting to grate on my last nerves, as its overuse to win ALL the fights was... unbelievable. The storyline became almost non-existent and it was so repetitive that you could actually predict what was going to happen even before the new chapter was available. Nothing was consistent anymore, let alone realistic. Something so predictable and repetitive cannot be good and, eventually, you lose interest. So yes, I admit it - the series fell flat and became utter nonsense. I lost interest and just kept reading to see how it was going to end, not because I was passionate about it. And this, guys, is an opinion. Got it? It's mine, you don't have to agree to it as you have your own opinion and I won't shit on you. If you think I'm being childish or a complete bitch about my own opinion, then... what the hell am I supposed to do? Apologise for having a different opinion about a series that used to be watchable and became absolute nonsense on so many levels that I couldn't take it anymore? Keel over because you insulted me for having a different opinion about a character or an entire series? HA! No, I'm not going to. I'm entitled to my own opinion just as much as you're entitled to yours, but I can give you my arguments. You can despise One Piece for the same solid reasons I despise Fairy Tail, and that's your opinion. See? We're all entitled to an opinion and that's something the die-hard Fairy Tail fans don't seem to understand, even if they're given good and solid arguments as to why people with different opinions think the series can't be that great and became mediocre at best. To be honest, I don't think they even want to reflect on the flaws that propelled the series to its downfall and even drove many fans away. But still, that doesn't mean they have the right to insult a fanfiction writer for having a different opinion, even when they're being blunt to the point of being downright asshole-ish and bastard-ish - it's still a fucking opinion. Since when being genuine and sincere about something has become bashing? 'Sometimes, you have to be psychotic to prove a point': that's a quote I've seen somewhere and, though it's harsh, I can't help but agree from the bottom of my heart. If kind words aren't enough to expose the emotions you're feeling about a series that you were once a fan of and became utter trash, then be a fucking psychotic to expose your opinion and arguments to explain why it became trash. Unless I've become stupid, it's still called having an opinion. Because that's criticism. Criticism is, whether it's positive or negative, necessary if one wants to improve his/her writing. And if you can't take criticism... that's your problem. But don't take it on someone who can counter your insults with good and solid arguments, that's a lost battle you're fighting. Kindly go on your merry way if you don't like what you're reading. So why do I keep writing fanfictions about Fairy Tail if I think it became utter nonsense? Because despite the series, there were still good things and characters that deserved some justice. Like Juvia Lockser, for example: some characters, whom I thought were great once they were introduced, were absolutely wasted to the point they were even shoved aside for comic relief without any character growth throughout the series. Juvia Lockser is a good example of that lack of characterisation and (again, this is my opinion, you don't have to agree with me) I thought she could have been handled much better. Because if everything she does has to be for 'Gray-sama', it quickly becomes old and there's no character growth. Though she's my favourite character from Fairy Tail, I had such high hopes for her and was met with disappointments. One last thing: the Fairy Tail fandom is fucking scary. Fairy Tail fans go fucking insane at the slightest negative opinion about a single character or the entire series, they insult you or tell you to kill yourself. Wow. I had some bastard tell me that my mother should have drowned me or something like that. Seriously. Just how much more toxic can the Fairy Tail fandom become? You guys need to calm the hell down. Your reviews are a complete clusterfuck. You don't have to call people 'Naru-tards' or 'One Piece-tards' because they've got a negative opinion about Fairy Tail, especially if it's argumentative. Damn. Can't have an opinion anymore? So here you have it. A rant. An argumentative one that I needed to get off my chest. Because this is bloody ridiculous. |
