The concept of the 'do-over' is used in, at the very least, hundreds of Harry Potter stories. Here's my own take, using a HP character that actually has a good reason for getting another chance to make things better.

Harry strays into the library's newspaper archives. The Hat wanted to put Harry into Slytherin. Harry was not just not stupid, he also was fairly clever if he wanted to be. Well, the Ministry needed a new player for quite sometime now. Not a bashing story. Part one - Sirius' freedom is complete. Irregular but not infrequent updates.

She witnessed Magic bleed, cry and agonize. She beheld the beginning of the end. There were a lot of things Hermione Granger had never wanted. But they happened anyway. In another world, why would things be any different? AU. Dark!Sirius, HG/SB- one-sided at best.

Harry Potter always knew he'd have to fight in a Wizarding War, but he'd always thought it would be after school, and not after winning the Triwizard Tournament. Worse still, he never thought he'd understand both sides of the conflict. AU with a Female Voldemort.

After a far more brutal DOM battle than canon, Harry begins to prepare for what it truly means to live in a world embroiled in war. Harry/Pansy! Harry/Bellatrix!

Time travel, AU. When all that Harry Potter ever loved is taken from him, when he cannot fight alone against the tide of Voldemort's evil, he has to take his one last chance. A lonely, damaged Harry returns to his past, in order to save his future. Rated M for violence, death and trauma. Will eventually include Harry/Ginny.
