![]() Author has written 29 stories for Hunger Games, Sherlock, and Lewis. HowLynnTime A quick note to my dear readers. As many of you have noticed, I am not updating at this current time. I have had several lifebombs hit me and though it is too dull and sad to go into detail, they are matters I must see to. Divorce, illness in family, blahblahblah --eyes rolling. I have not abandoned you, however my entire life has been up ended and I have little choice but to sort through the rubble. I hope that at some point, I will be able to return. Thank you all for your kindness and patience. Love to you all --Howlynn A blog about writing, life with imaginary friends and my wandering brain that's never really lost... just off the map with the monsters. The Girl with the Blue Apples -- My Blog - Please stop by! Leave a silly comment or Find out what a Blue Apple is. My name is Howlynn and I am a writer who is on the path of turning my words into craft. I love David Foster Wallace, and can't wait for 'The Pale King' - Yummy. I really never thought much about fan fiction, but doing some various writing exercises, I have come to find an appreciation for the character analysis it requires. Write what you can’t. Write what you’ve been afraid to write this entire time. - Mary Kole at “If you go to a big city, and a university is a big city, you are bound to run into Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Stay home, stay home! In other words: No matter what a young person thinks he or she is really hot stuff at doing, he or she is sooner or later going to run into somebody in the same field who will cut him or her a new asshole, so to speak.”- Kurt Vonnegut, Time Quake “There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says "Morning, boys. How's the water?" And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes "What the hell is water?” ― David Foster Wallace “Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est" ("They can kill you, but the legalities of eating you are quite a bit dicier").” ― David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest "When the body is in chains, the mind becomes free"- Marquis de Sade “There are very few innocent sentences in writing.” ― David Foster Wallace ( I know. I know the next quote is long. I know you think you don't have time. Please, Please if you write more than grocery lists and happy lie Christmas cards, give yourself this gift to understand this one thing. One minute, two if you savor it, is a small price for a truth to carry the rest of your life.) “The next real literary “rebels” in this country might well emerge as some weird bunch of anti-rebels, born oglers who dare somehow to back away from ironic watching, who have the childish gall actually to endorse and instantiate single-entendre principles. Who treat of plain old untrendy human troubles and emotions in U.S. life with reverence and conviction. Who eschew self-consciousness and hip fatigue. These anti-rebels would be outdated, of course, before they even started. Dead on the page. Too sincere. Clearly repressed. Backward, quaint, naive, anachronistic. Maybe that’ll be the point. Maybe that’s why they’ll be the next real rebels. Real rebels, as far as I can see, risk disapproval. The old postmodern insurgents risked the gasp and squeal: shock, disgust, outrage, censorship, accusations of socialism, anarchism, nihilism. Today’s risks are different. The new rebels might be artists willing to risk the yawn, the rolled eyes, the cool smile, the nudged ribs, the parody of gifted ironists, the “Oh how banal.” To risk accusations of sentimentality, melodrama. Of overcredulity. Of softness. Of willingness to be suckered by a world of lurkers and starers who fear gaze and ridicule above imprisonment without law. Who knows. ” “The job of the first eight pages is not to have the reader want to throw the book at the wall, during the first eight pages.” ― David Foster Wallace Here is my list of pairings so far… Yes – they are unusual. I love Peeta and Gale –don’t get me wrong –But I am still Team Haymitch. He was the one meant for Katniss once Peeta became violent. And folks – violent men with psychotic fugues of ferocity –are not safe to marry – what a terrible message. Haymitch was at least safe – except on waking. Katniss and Haymitch –This is my favorite pair even if I am only recently joined in my like for them. Mostly I got hate mail just a few months ago. I told you Haymitch is Hot, some of you have only started getting it once the movie came out. Katniss and Cinna – Ok she has to stand naked in front of a man in the very first book and that isn’t sexual for either one of them –oh nooooo…eyes rolling. Annie and Peeta - I love Annie and thought she should have had someone. She and Peeta are held in the Capitol –how is this pairing not more common? Annie and Gale – Better than just –other lips. Haymitch and Effie – common but fun if done in new way. Haymitch and Johanna – hot – just hot –sorry. Prim and Gale – well, I gave it a try. Haymitch and Prim – non-romance but I do think she would somehow pull a soft sweet side from Haymitch. Finnick and Katniss – friends with benefits –seriously these two are sweet and fun. Finnick/Johanna/Haymitch – threesomes are just cute – these three are adorable Mrs. Everdeen/Mr. Mellark – Please –nobody noticed how much alike Peeta and Prim were – Katniss much people? Finnick and Haymitch – wow –after writing this a few time –I love this pair! Haymitch and Cinna –no I never thought of it until I wrote Pleasure to Burn –now I love it. Peeta/Haymitch – watch out plot bunny alert. I have already kissed them in P2B –lol. Peeta/Katniss/Haymitch – Did you read the part about three? Three is a pretty good number…grin. Stories – Because She Came Here With Me -- Haymitch returns to twelve with Katniss. Katniss and Haymitch - snarky love story. One shot AU. Rated K -- Peeta/Annie, Gale/Johanna and Delly/Darius Pleasure to Burn » Katniss and Cinna. Katniss really is pregnant for the Quell –but it isn’t Peeta’s. Seriously- lots of pairs and just a hugely fun story. Haymitch at his most naughty and sarcastic. AU with a canon wrap makes for a blazing story. Lemons with no puckery words. -- beware F-bombs ch12 and a little slash torture -- Katniss E. & Cinna, Haymitch/Cinna, Haymitch/Finn. Haymitch/Katniss, Gale/Katniss, Finn /Katniss – off camera –Delly/Peeta, Peeta/Madge, Gale/Madge, rated M for a reason Lay Down Your Rusty Armor:The death of Haymitch Abernathy Peeta reached out timidly and laid his warm hand on her shoulder. She didn't move except to open her eyes. “ He's finally won," she says quietly. Katniss and Peeta, Katniss and Haymitch –not romance rated K The Mockingjay and the Chameleon » The Haymitch and Katniss that started it all. Gale is blown and Peeta is toast. There is only one person who can fix the little mockingjays broken wings.Haymitch is really a bit of a Chameleon. Love can be found in many forms. Split chapter edit, new version with extra chapters! Read This again! Katniss/Gale. Katniss/Haymitch, Katniss/ Finnick, Johanna/ Gale, The Mockingjay and the Albatross » sequel to Chameleon -- It has been 40 years since the rebellion. Katniss has buried two husbands and her first love. These two are stubborn and set in their ways –lots of baggage –who knows if they can make it. Katniss E. & Finnick O. 8. Dance cards: »We all know in theory what was required of victors. Some people have an issue that I make Haymitch a whore, but I say it is canon – you just didn’t notice. To give some light to the poor Finnick alone bit, ask yourself how having one worker bee would actually work? (It wouldn’t. You need more than one attraction to have a funpark. The victors are adored and fawned over because they are expensive, but most definitely on the menu.) Did nobody catch Haymitch’s lie? First hint, Haymitch, Finnick and Plutarch are having a discussion and only Haymitch is angry. It turns out they are discussing if Finnick should tell the world his secret job. Finnick and Plutarch are for it and Haymitch is against it. Why does it bother Haymitch? Next Finnick mentions two times (once looking at Haymitch) that he isn’t the only one. So he confesses and Katniss asks if this happened to her beloved mentor. Beloved Mentor says No. He explains that they took everything away to hurt him with, then he goes on to list Johanna among the sex slaves. It has been very noticeable that she had everything she loved taken from her as well. So, Haymitch is playing his card that the same situation that protected him, did not protect Johanna? Think about that. Haymitch was a looker once. (see my sketch of him -- it's my profile pic) He won a Quell, against twice as many tributes. He has never brought one home. He is capable of it when it matters. Haymitch knows all about this and was in fact consulted prior to the revelation and he was the one who was mad that they would ask this of poor Finnick? There were others. Haymitch is no longer a looker. Haymitch is a drunk who can magically be sober when he must save Katniss. He works at being drunk, unattractive, and as unfashionable as possible. He is single; immune to any female charms though the richest available man in District 12. He’s a seemingly celibate 40 year old man when in District 12. Even his great mansion is staged to make no companion of any kind be willing to put up with his revolting habits. There is more to that story then he hates mentoring. Haymitch lies. Haymitch was Finnick’s forerunner. It is canon, just hidden well. Short glimpses of appointments. Some funny, some sad, some hot, some cold. Review and request. Will be Rated M because sex is scarier than death. Haymitch, Finn, Brutus, Johanna, Chaff Lost Child » AU within canon. 2SHOT The story of Mr. Mellark and Mrs. Everdeen. Mr. Mellark tells the story of his wife, his love and how a certian little girl could share both looks & other traits with Peeta. This is one of my favorite 'what if' pairs. tissue warning but I had to tell this tale. Kissing Finnick Odair Finnick Odair is crazy. Nobody seems to have time for him, but one young girl is determined to help him. Prim and Finnick become friends. This is friendship, not romance, even with a little kissing. This one will make you smile I hope. Tissue warning –wrapped in canon. Rome Smolders Set prior to the series, Haymitch is at a low spot. He is in trouble, giving up, and Finnick and Johanna want to help. For the DWCA June writer challenge. lil smexy/slashy- bad word warning - Heavensbee, Haymitch, Finnick, Johanna Where the waves meet the sky This is one of my very favorite stories – it is sweet and melancholy like the sea –Like Finn. Finnick Odair is on the hover craft and is remembering his mentor Mags. A peek at the relationship they shared and how he will carry on as if she still guides him. Mags and Finn-o were family and he must come to terms with her loss. Haymitch the Horrible --Haymitch and other victors at the 73rd Games - These deadly friends of mine. It was just a joke that we played on Finnick Odair, but now I watch him fight for his life, it wasn't so funny. Victors relationship Note M rating for language and subjects. |
