Okay this made me emotionally distraught.

"or more percicely, Mellark's katniss is coming home.." that entire chunk blew my mind. I never thought about Gale, Katniss, and Peeta that way, and I have to say, it's incredible and makes me rethink how I understand their characters..."and it turned out better than I could have done for her.." that line is so perfect and breaks my heart. But I totally believe it's true. Gale would have taken the berries to save Katniss, thinking that'd save her, but Peeta's action is what actually saves her (totally makes me rethink her ending up with in MJ, which I still don't like, but this insight is great)... "She didn't need me there, and probably never will again," Oh, how heartbreaking, but I see how it could be kind of true.

I'm in awe of you right now, seriously, this is great.

I think you nailed Gale watching K's first kiss perfectly. That part is great. And actually, I think that you get everything just about perfect. I love Gale and Prim. I love Gale and Madge. I love Gale in the interview. I just love it all. You should really be proud of this piece. And I'm very relieved you didn't have Gale sleep with the girl in the alley. I've read a lot of pieces where he does, and I don't like it, even though it might be believable that he would...it's just nice to see a piece where he doesn't.

I really like your characterization of Prim in this piece. She's not too childish, and I like how you show that she grew and got stronger while Katniss was away. I believe that is very realistic.

Also, this is the best and most believable piece from Gale's pov I've come across. I'm just loving it.

You're the queen of great character insight and perfect details. I love how Gale actually wants one of his slips to get pulled, that's a nice twist.

I also like how you explain Gale's view on Peeta, having noticed he watched her all his life, but never catcalled or leered, that's really good.

"desperate to keep her there forever, and she clings to me as if she wanted me to." Love that :)

And I love that you actually let Gale tell Katniss he loved her. It's so heartbreaking to me that he didn't in the book...

The only thing I could possibly say about this is that I LOVE it!

So, so, so amazingly beautiful. I loved the line "let them see that she shines brightly enough to burn them all." Everything is just so perfect and the way you portray Gale is so fitting. I was laughing/crying at the same time throughout the story. :)

I just had to leave a review after all of that. I always love to see what people think Gale might be going through during the Games. His POV. It's just such a tragic story that you can't help but wonder what is going on in his heart and his mind. You did such a good job capturing him. I liked that while he kinda hated Peeta for being the one that was getting in the way of their fleeting 'romance' at the same time he couldn't hate him because he was doing everything in his power to keep Katniss alive and how could Gale oppose that?
I also appreciated that while you stuck close to canon there were a few moments where you strayed to make some of their moments even better. I really loved the little kiss she gives him on the cheek when he says goodbye to her before the first games. And of course their heated make out session on the couch after she returned from Haymitch's. So well done! And I enjoyed this so much I will have to check out some of your other G/K fics!

Very nice, it's hard to find good Gale/Katniss (especially in Gale's perspective) so it was a real delight finding this.
