Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter, Warhammer, Twilight, and Worm. My ultimate goal here is to become good enough at writing that I can one day have a book of my own published. I've read a lot of bad fanfiction, and a lot of good, too. Fanfiction has gotten pretty tropey, filled with tired old characterizations and little to no thought-out plot. I believe that trying to change that with my own stories would be a fantastic way to improve my writing and to add to the community I've been a silent part of for many years. The art of writing is in the practice of revising. As such, I reserve the ultimate right to go back to previous chapters, and rewrite them from the ground up, if need be. To make this easier for my readers, I will include a date at the top of every chapter, to show when the last time it was edited, as well as a very basic changelist. The reader can then decide if it's worth going back to reread, though I highly recommend doing so. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. My Stories: Past an Hour the Prospect's Black: A Harry Potter Fanfiction Veela Curse played straight. To knowingly and willingly save the life of a Veela, is to become one yourself. Harry Potter saves the life of a little girl, and in so doing, saves the world. docs(dot)google(dot)com/document/d/1I2oEED-9c4J92DFxsG2dLY5neGERNbyt5HfGUmhBdT4/edit?usp=sharing Replace (dot)'s with a . Tropes that I don't like: HP Edition Lord/Lady Potter-Black: The Potter family will always be upper-middle class in my stories. Just enough money to never want for anything, but not enough that massive amounts of political pressure (bribery or Wizengamot seats) can be exerted at will. Friendly Goblins: My goblins, when I use them, will be practical and petty in the extreme. Thanking them will get nothing but a sneer from them, and they'll try to cheat anyone who does so of all their money. They loathe wizards and are mean little bastards. Bashing: Its only good when done in a parody, otherwise it's just lazy writing. There are more realistic ways to break up Harry's friendship with Ron or any other character. Magical Oaths and Contracts: It's a common trope that breaking one of these will remove the character's magic, usually killing them in the process. Magic cannot be taken away. Period. These types of oaths and contracts come with more esoteric consequences that will vary depending on the circumstances. Magical Core: A little organ somewhere in the Wizards body that grants them the ability to cast magic. If this were true, a muggle could become magical via a simple organ transplant, and Umbridge may have been onto something about muggleborns stealing magic. This trope is also often used as an excuse to make Harry powerful enough to be on a par with Voldemort or Dumbledore, which is just plain unrealistic. Magic is supposed to be magical, there is no explanation, and it sometimes seems to favour some people over others. Prongslet: Just no. Mental Shields: A common Occlumency trope that has no basis in canon. Defending one's mind, to me, is the art of keeping it clear of any thoughts or feelings. It's a meditative technique, not a literal wall inside a character's mind. Harems/Multi/Mates/Love-at-First-Sight: Again, no. When it is done well, I might read it, but I will never write it. True love takes longer than just a few chapters. |
