"A critic is someone who knows the way, but can't drive." The name's Parsat. No, I am not French, and have no relation to the commune of Sous-Parsat. The name "Parsat" is a portmanteau between the words "parody" and "satire". I usually pronounce it with a long "a" in the beginning, but you are free to say it however you like. I am male. I'm more of a poet than a prose writer; it has always been natural to relate and describe rather than to narrate or tell a story for me. Nowadays I prefer to critique fanfiction and look at fandoms as a whole in order to investigate the different theses authors make about the fictional universe and the different tropes that arise as a result. I believe that the best fanfictions show a great deal of respect for canon and their source material; in other words, these stories put the characters and the canon above the author's self-interest. This is as much of a talent and a learned skill as cooking or playing an instrument or playing a sport would be, and one that I don't have. I've considered poetry to be my strength over prose, and I've posted a few poems based on literary works. I write almost exclusively in meter and rhyme, but I'm also fond of Asian poetic forms. Robert Frost is my favorite Western poet and greatest influence, with Shakespeare coming in as a second. My favorite Eastern poet is Su Shi from the Song Dynasty, and Li Bai comes second there. I've mainly written for (in chronological order) Trauma Center, Resident Evil, Valkyria Chronicles, and Call of Duty, although taking a look at my stories and favorite stories, you'll see a wider spread than that. Each fandom has its own flavor and its own community of big names and talented writers, and I'm pleased to have been able to interact with these people. I was also the one to request the addition of the Mirror's Edge category, and the first to publish a story to there. I can also be found on AO3. I don't write much anymore, but I still read a fair bit and extensively curate my favorites here on and my bookmarks on AO3. Fanfiction preferences: Canon-compliance, good pacing, worldbuilding, romance (generally canon pairings), backstories, creative headcanons, family and friendship, adventure, slice of life, tooth-rotting fluff Dislikes (not including bad writing): Non-straight pairings, love triangles, dark/gritty, heavy angst, extremely long stories Favorite fandoms (not exhaustive, bold is currently active): Naruto, How to Train Your Dragon, Trauma Center, Miraculous Ladybug, My Hero Academia, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X/X2, Artemis Fowl, MCU, Codename: Kids Next Door, Frozen, Harry Potter, Kimi no na wa, Mulan, Resident Evil, Series of Unfortunate Events, Star Wars, Valkyria Chronicles, Uncharted Fave 15 of 2019—The only criteria is that the works here were either first published or finally completed in the listed year.
