Name: Shadowcaster01, but I'm fine with being called Shadow.

Reason for joining the site: My muses wouldn't leave me alone with certain stories; I've still got about half a dozen I haven't started yet... (scary, right?). I also love writing stories - length doesn't matter.

Pet peeves: Misspellings, grammatical errors, incorrect usage of words or phrases (to/two/too, etc) - I'm a grammar nazi, it's an ingrained thing (not hard to believe with a family full of teachers)... Also don't like when someone doesn't properly research the historical/geographical/mythical context for their fiction, it can get really annoying. And last but not least, the dreaded in text author notes that break up the story's flow...

Likes: the colour green, thunderstorms, stargazing, and a really good book.

I'm not a big fan of the Twilight series, can't stand the thought of shiny Vampires being unaffected by sunlight... it's like they're a beacon to all Vampire Hunters everywhere. It would be just as obvious for them to hold a big, flashing, neon sign that reads: "I Am Here" in huge letters, and several arrows too. Wasn't all that well written either, definitely a "tween" book, as people call it. I apologise to any Twilight fans who come across this part of my profile, it's just my personal opinion.

Shows/Movies: I like a variety of types, but for now I'll list a few... Harry Potter 1-5, Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl, Hogan's Heroes, And Then There Were None, Some Like it Hot, Bewitched, Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, Singing in the Rain, Pacific Rim, Lord of the Rings, Ouran Host Club, Saving Private Ryan, Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Star Wars, Finding Nemo, Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Back to the Future, Law and Order CI & SVU, The Inspector General, The Court Jester, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Castle, Doctor Who, and the list goes on...

Updates: April 2018 - Hey there followers and lurkers, it's a bit slow but I'm working on getting back into my stride when it comes to writing fics. For a long while I had lost all my story files (twice) for extended periods. It was devastating, as I also had some cool new stuff that I'd wanted to share with everyone on that drive, too. After this extended hiatus from writing, I only ask that you're all a bit patient with me as I play catch-up with all my WIPs. Thanks so much for your patience and support, you're all awesome! :)

SYOC/RP Forums

Ragnarok: Detailed biographies and family background, powers, skills and talents, appearance, age, personality, goals and fears, fatal/major flaws, quirks and habits, ethnicity and hometown, and how they discovered and reacted to their powers.

Include how that character was surviving the war going on around them, and their strategy for doing so in the future. Also the way they think things through, and their life creed (or a quote that best describes them as a person).

Unexpected: Detailed biographies and family background, skills and talents, appearance, age, personality, goals and fears, fatal/major flaws, quirks and habits, ethnicity and hometown, species and home world, values, how they deal with pressure or life-threatening situations, occupation, home era, other stuff not listed (each character would get their own mini-arc, so I need lots of detail for everything)...

If inventing an alien, please give some info about their world and their species. If you want some questions to help brainstorm this, let me know.
