Author has written 3 stories for Lord of the Rings. I’ve been writing all my life. The first story I ever remember writing was written on notebook paper, illustrated, and taped together. I was five. I started reading fan fiction, which was actually the official published works of the Star Wars Universe, when I was thirteen. That’s where my pen name came from. Jaina was probably my favorite character, and I was sorely disappointed when The Force Awakens deviated from canon and erased her. I’ve never been satisfied when the credits roll on a movie, or when a book says “the end.” I want to know what ELSE happened...or could have happened. Though I’ve never really stopped reading fanfiction, I’ve recently started writing it again. Most of my stories on this site have been deleted because I wrote them in high school and they were laughably awful. The older ones that remain are ones that were salvageable, though even they could use a rewrite. My writing has grown through practice and life experience, and I’m looking forward to writing once again. My work (which I have a tendency to roast): The original A Perilous Journey to Lorien has been scrapped. The barest skeleton of plot remains (it really was a bit much in the original to have half of the Fellowship either poisoned or stabbed by Morgul blades). I’m currently rewriting what is almost a completely different story (though the title remains appropriate) and posting a chapter as often as I can—plenty of Hurt!Legolas and angst for everyone else. This time the characters have much more depth and the tale follows the book much more closely. The original was 21,000 words long, and that included the old custom of review replies. The rewrite has surpassed that count by Chapter 6, and I’m not even halfway through. I’ve left my other two LOTR stories up, despite finding them cringeworthy—read at your own risk. They’ve been polished and revised a bit, but having been originally written seventeen years ago when I was in high school (I’ve met some amazing teenage writers, but I was not one of them), they’re pretty sad. The Strength of One Small is a nail biting foray into Frodo hurt/comfort/angst, but might be a tad unrealistic and, regrettably, far too short. When Hope is Lost is a bit of a prequel to A Perilous Journey to Lorien that might have been good if it had about 100,000 more words and had been better researched. |
