Tv Shows. Hi there! Name's Alina. Epic fangirl. To say I love to write would be an understatement. I eat breathe and sleep it. I don't claim to be a good, gifted writer, however. I simply do it because if I didn't, I would lose my mind. Lose myself. So, if my stories suck... don't say I didn't warn you! Ships... Well, I have about seventy OTPs sooo...lol I am pretty open to ships, I am always up for discovering a new one. NOW you know enough to be going on with. "I want to live with all my memories...even if they're sad, even if they're memories that only hurt me. Even if they're memories I'd rather forget. If I keep them and keep trying, without running away...if I keep trying, then someday I'll be strong enough that those memories can't defeat me. I believe that. I want to believe that. Because I want to think that there's no such thing as a memory that's okay to forget. I want to take any memory, and hold it in my heart, and believe that. So I can be someone who won't let memories defeat me." -Momiji Sohma "...If you touched her carelessly and thoughtlessly, she'd fall apart with a crash..." Natsuki Takaya, in reference to how she drew Rin (Isuzu) Sohma. "I don't need luck, though. I don't want it. I've always had to struggle and fight and that's made me strong. It's made me who I am." -Prince Zuko "Are you saying I'm a liar?" "No. I'm saying you're an optimist. Same thing, really." -Katara and Sokka "The best time to be creative is right after you get off work, while you're still full of rage." -Iris, Roseanne "I always had the repulsive need to be something more than human." -David Bowie "Madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push." -the Joker "What is possible is subjective." -Brom "I didn't think it would end this way." 4 8 15 16 23 42 execute PLEASE READ WHAT'S UNDER THIS!! I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian. Re-post this if you believe homophobia is wrong. Please do your part to end it! I SUPPORT GAY AND TRANS RIGHTS. Thoughts on Gay Marriage! 1) Gay marriage is not natural, and, as Americans, we reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and liposuction. 2) Gay marriage will encourage straight people to be gay in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall. 3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because dogs have legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. 4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all. Women are still property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal. 5) Straight marriages would be less meaningful if gay marriage was allowed. The sanctity of Brittany Spear's 55 hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed. 6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet and the world needs more children. 7) Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children. 8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed upon an entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America. 9) Children can never succeed without a male and female figure in a home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children. 10) Gay marriage would change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans. "But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "My darling girl, when are you going to understand that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage!" -Aunt Frances, Practical Magic The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. -Allan K Chalmers "I have come home at last! This is my real country! I belong here. This is the land I have been looking for all my life." -Narnia Any fool can make a rule, and any fool will mind it. -Henry David Thoreau If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. -Antione De Saint-Exupery Once you choose hope, anything's possible. -Christopher Reeve Sanity may be madness, but the maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be. -Don Quixote Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear and injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow. -Dorothy Thompson "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." -Marilyn Monroe Locke: "Why do you find it so hard to believe?" Jack: "Why do you find it so easy?" Locke: "It's never been easy!" Michael: "I hear you're a priest." Mr. Eko: "Yes." Michael: "I guess you believe in Hell, then?" Mr. Eko: "For a brief time, I served in a small parish in England. Every Sunday after mass, I would see a young boy waiting at the back of the church. Then one day, the boy confessed to me that he had beaten his dog to death with a shovel. He said the dog had bitten his baby sister on the cheek and he needed to protect her. And he wanted to know whether he would go to hell for this. I told him that God would understand, and that he would be forgiven, as long as he was sorry. But the boy did not care about forgiveness. He was only afraid that if he did go to hell that the dog would be there, waiting for him." Jack: "Hey. Are you all right?" He touches Juliets face Juliet: "He wanted me to kill them. Ben. He sent Harper to tell me to kill them." Jack: "How could he possibly tell you that?" Juliet: "I don't know! But he knew how to get to me. Don't you see? These people came here to wage war against Ben. And Ben's going to win. And when he does you don't want to be anywhere near me."Jack: "Why not?" Juliet: "Because he thinks that I'm his. And he knows how I feel about you." Jack walks up to Juliet, and kisses her. Jack: "He knows where to find me." Locke: Lie to them, Jack. If you do it half as well as you lie to yourself, they’ll believe you. Into The West Lay down, Sleep now, and dream Why do you weep? What can you see, Dawn will turn, Hope fades, Don’t say, What can you see, And all will turn, "Maybe there is no right choice." -Gimli, TTT "Yet who knows what may happen in these evil days?" -Aragorn, FOTR "The world is all grown strange." -Eomer, TTT Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread. Through shadow, to the edge of night, until the stars are all alight. Mist and shadow, cloud and shade, all shall fade, all shall fade. -Pippen ROTK film "There is always hope." -Aragorn, TTT film I wish I could've lived my life without making any wrong turns. But that's impossible. A path like that doesn't exist. We fail. We trip. We get lost. We make mistakes. And little by little, one step at a time, we push forward. It's all we can do. On our own two feet. Someday, we'll reach something. We'll reach someone. Even if we get a little banged up. We pray. -Fruits Basket, v. 21 pg 133-134 "Battlefield doctors decide who lives and who dies. It's called triage." -Johns "They kept calling it murder when I did it." -Riddick "Strong survival instinct. I admire that in a woman." -Riddick "Shit! I hate not being the bad guys!" -Kyra Ridick: "Are you with me, Kyra?" "Believe nothing, no matter who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." -Buddha ...the same tricks that, that once fooled me, they won't get you anywhere, I'm not the same kid from your memory, well now I can fend for myself... Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again. - Henry Scott Holland "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." -Ernest Hemingway "Never think that war, no matter how necessary nor how justified, is not a crime." -Ernest Hemingway "And thank you, for showing me, that best friends, cannot be trusted...and thank you, for lying to me! The friendship and good times we had, YOU CAN HAVE THEM BACK." I used to miss you, but now I'm just glad I can see who you really are...even if it's taken me this long to realize it. I need you in my life like cancer. So PEACE, bitch. Date a girl who doesn’t read. Find her in the weary squalor of a Midwestern bar. Find her in the smoke, drunken sweat, and varicolored light of an upscale nightclub. Wherever you find her, find her smiling. Make sure that it lingers when the people that are talking to her look away. Engage her with unsentimental trivialities. Use pick-up lines and laugh inwardly. Take her outside when the night overstays its welcome. Ignore the palpable weight of fatigue. Kiss her in the rain under the weak glow of a streetlamp because you’ve seen it in film. Remark at its lack of significance. Take her to your apartment. Dispatch with making love. Fuck her.Let the anxious contract you’ve unwittingly written evolve slowly and uncomfortably into a relationship. Find shared interests and common ground like sushi, and folk music. Build an impenetrable bastion upon that ground. Make it sacred. Retreat into it every time the air gets stale, or the evenings get long. Talk about nothing of significance. Do little thinking. Let the months pass unnoticed. Ask her to move in. Let her decorate. Get into fights about inconsequential things like how the fucking shower curtain needs to be closed so that it doesn’t fucking collect mold. Let a year pass unnoticed. Begin to notice.Figure that you should probably get married because you will have wasted a lot of time otherwise. Take her to dinner on the forty-fifth floor at a restaurant far beyond your means. Make sure there is a beautiful view of the city. Sheepishly ask a waiter to bring her a glass of champagne with a modest ring in it. When she notices, propose to her with all of the enthusiasm and sincerity you can muster. Do not be overly concerned if you feel your heart leap through a pane of sheet glass. For that matter, do not be overly concerned if you cannot feel it at all. If there is applause, let it stagnate. If she cries, smile as if you’ve never been happier. If she doesn’t, smile all the same.Let the years pass unnoticed. Get a career, not a job. Buy a house. Have two striking children. Try to raise them well. Fail, frequently. Lapse into a bored indifference. Lapse into an indifferent sadness. Have a mid-life crisis. Grow old. Wonder at your lack of achievement. Feel sometimes contented, but mostly vacant and ethereal. Feel, during walks, as if you might never return, or as if you might blow away on the wind. Contract a terminal illness. Die, but only after you observe that the girl who didn’t read never made your heart oscillate with any significant passion, that no one will write the story of your lives, and that she will die, too, with only a mild and tempered regret that nothing ever came of her capacity to those things, god damnit, because nothing sucks worse than a girl who reads. Do it, I say, because a life in purgatory is better than a life in hell. Do it, because a girl who reads possesses a vocabulary that can describe that amorphous discontent as a life unfulfilled—a vocabulary that parses the innate beauty of the world and makes it an accessible necessity instead of an alien wonder. A girl who reads lays claim to a vocabulary that distinguishes between the specious and soulless rhetoric of someone who cannot love her, and the inarticulate desperation of someone who loves her too much. A vocabulary, god damnit, that makes my vacuous sophistry a cheap it, because a girl who reads understands syntax. Literature has taught her that moments of tenderness come in sporadic but knowable intervals. A girl who reads knows that life is not planar; she knows, and rightly demands, that the ebb comes along with the flow of disappointment. A girl who has read up on her syntax senses the irregular pauses—the hesitation of breath—endemic to a lie. A girl who reads perceives the difference between a parenthetical moment of anger and the entrenched habits of someone whose bitter cynicism will run on, run on well past any point of reason, or purpose, run on far after she has packed a suitcase and said a reluctant goodbye and she has decided that I am an ellipsis and not a period and run on and run on. Syntax that knows the rhythm and cadence of a life well a girl who doesn’t read because the girl who reads knows the importance of plot. She can trace out the demarcations of a prologue and the sharp ridges of a climax. She feels them in her skin. The girl who reads will be patient with an intermission and expedite a denouement. But of all things, the girl who reads knows most the ineluctable significance of an end. She is comfortable with them. She has bid farewell to a thousand heroes with only a twinge of sadness.Don’t date a girl who reads because girls who read are the storytellers. You with the Joyce, you with the Nabokov, you with the Woolf. You there in the library, on the platform of the metro, you in the corner of the café, you in the window of your room. You, who make my life so god damned difficult. The girl who reads has spun out the account of her life and it is bursting with meaning. She insists that her narratives are rich, her supporting cast colorful, and her typeface bold. You, the girl who reads, make me want to be everything that I am not. But I am weak and I will fail you, because you have dreamed, properly, of someone who is better than I am. You will not accept the life that I told of at the beginning of this piece. You will accept nothing less than passion, and perfection, and a life worthy of being storied. So out with you, girl who reads. Take the next southbound train and take your Hemingway with you. I hate you. I really, really, really hate you. "Any measurement must take into account the position of the observer. There is no such thing as measurement absolute, there is only measurement relative." -Jeanette Winterson "When I have a terrible need of- shall I say the word- religion, then I go out and paint the stars." -Van Gogh A/N: I have never, nor will I ever, give up on my fics. Life gets in the way of updating or adding new stories, but I will always keep writing. You'll all just have to be patient with me whilst I am in between updates XD. |
