Really liked it, the bathroom scene is hilarious. I was a bit unsettled at the beginning with the inner thoughts addressing the reader, but it got better and better, as the POV turned out to be quite deep and believable. The way you describe their relationship evolution over time was another good point of the story.

First person pov works very well in your story! The alternating views also kept the ball rolling (more like speeding) in terms of anticipation.
