Author has written 16 stories for Phantom Stallion. While I read mostly HP, TBBT, and Sherlock, I write Phantom Stallion fanfiction. I may not be a wizard, or a physicist, or even a blogger, but I do know a little something about horses. They always say to write what you know, and I found my writing home within the sandbox that Terri Farley has graciously provided. I have not yet read the new novelette she published, so please understand that my interpretation the Phantom Stallion cannon ends with the bonfire. I often go so AU it isn't funny, but you ought to know what my sense of cannon is, anyhow. Current and Complete Stories A Better Normal is completely A New Normal is the direct sequel, so if you want updates follow that story. I also wrote a strange, yet fluffy piece called, Abide with Me. I wrote it because I wanted to read it, so I hope you like it. It is completed. Witchy Woman is one of those things that just got in my head and wouldn't leave me alone until Witch had her say. It's one of the more mature renditions on a possible Sake relationship. The story is complete. A more recently completed story is a series of one shots I've called The Darlin' Series. If you're a fan of Phantom Stallion, you'll know that Darrell's sense of humor is the perfect foil to the stoic leads. After months of Darrell hanging out inside my head, chewing bubble gum and hatching new lists and plans, he has deigned to share them with me in one final update. He is so frustrating, as I am sure you can imagine, but finally the final part of the story was a bittersweet moment for me. You can find the first part in Darlin' Dear. The series is now complete. I Remember You is a complete three shot that explores the development of Jake as a college athlete. It's pretty free flowing, but the Phantom's Bracelet makes an appearance that requires much reading between the lines. It explores the impact of one action upon generations of people, and wouldn't leave my brain until I put pen to paper, or cursor to Pages. It's a light songfic built around Steve Earle's music. Run is a very angst-y story that attempts to consider what one or two changes to cannon would allow to happen. Please note that it is very medically based, and that it does not shy away from discussing the aftermath of trauma on Sam or her family. I wrote it because I felt that TF wasn't able to really explore a lot of the themes relating to disability and injury that the cannon novels had as subtext. I wanted to bring some of those subtexts to light. It is very mature in terms of discussion, if not action. You will want to rip your hair out with how slow on the uptake Sam and Jake are being in certain areas, as that's my intent, but they've got mountains to climb. Read the warnings. Run is followed by Amarillo by Morning. That's complete, but the series is also posted here. Please note that the AO3 version is the director's cut, insofar as these things go, and is a bit more mature. Use your judgement. Future Stories I can't obviously, say too much, but I've got two stories coming up that are longer, though not as long as ABN. Although, I said that about Run, and look at the darn thing. I've issued myself a challenge to write a short story. (And by short, I mean less than 200,000 words) and have almost completed that. When I have the last chapter finished, it will be posted. 1-1-16: Next up is True, the next installment of Run. If You Read Nothing Else If you read my stories drop me a line in review or PM and let me know what you think. I love to talk to people on FFN and make new connections over stories, mine and yours! I give every review, favorite, and follow a reply as I am able. I am in grad school, so if you don't hear from me quickly, please don't ever feel bothered by sending the same message twice. I welcome anyone who wants to chat, no matter if they've been reading my writing since last year, or yesterday. I want to know your feelings about my scribblings, and what you think. Feedback, both positive and negative, helps me to grow. Growing helps me write better stories, which I hope will benefit you in the end. And anyway, part of the fun of fanfiction is the fandom. -Fasnacht |
