My penname is Growly Genet and I'm an avid reader (and sometimes writer) of fanfiction. My primary fandom for writing in is currently Invader Zim, although I have dabbled in others. For those interested, I like to write dark fantasy, horror and drama and I tend to like working with lengthy plots where I can really focus on the characters and the way they grow and change throughout various events. While most of my stories have a leaning towards mature subject matter, I don't generally write adult stories (read that: smut).

I have a special fascination with the relationship between Dib and Zim from Invader Zim. While I would not consider myself primarily a ZADR fan, I do enjoy some fanfics with the pairing. Generally though, I find the complexity and dichotomy of their hate/need relationship to be woefully unexplored. Most of my stories deal with this relationship in one manner or another. While I am not an advocate of romance between the two, I certainly do believe they have a rather twisted dependence on each other and might even be unable to properly function when deprived of each other's presence. My Invader Zim stories fall into two categories - those that fall into the realm of the so called "Project Colossus", a massive undertaking of Invader Zim fandom that consists of four major in-progress stories, and those that don't.

The Things Between Us: (Rated T) - "What if Dib really had given up chasing Zim? Years in the future, this one small choice has had dramatic consequences."

This is a fic set after the series that explores the possibility presented in the un-aired episode "Mopiness of Doom". What if Dib decided to give up his pursuit of Zim in favour of following a career in "Real Science". (Complete)

The Little Things: (Rated T) - "The Irkens' conquest was a success, but in its aftermath the galaxy is in chaos, rebellion runs rampant and the fate of an entire empire may rest in the hands of its smallest soldier."

This fic overlaps with TTBU. It starts before the other fic, and tells the story of Skoodge, of his early days as a trainee in the Irken Military, his rise to the position of Invader and beyond. Warning: This fic is heavy with OCs, largely because there is so little known about Irk, and about Skoodge's time on Blorch. Nonetheless, Skoodge is the central character of the story and I have tried very hard to make sure none of the OCs descend into the realm of Mary-Sue/Marty Stu-ism. (In Progress)

Penumbra: (Rated T) - This fic is the sequel to TTBU and tells the story of Dib and Zim after the end of the story. (Coming Soon)

The Stand-Alone Fics - or those that are not in the ToaE continuity:

Ash and Amber: (Rated M) After spending two years in a mental hospital a now cured Dib finds himself catapulted into the midst of a long ongoing battle, one that threatens to change his outlook on the world forever... if it doesn't kill him first.

This is a Dib-centric dark/horror fic inspired by the works of Stephen King and Neil Gaiman. (In Progress)

And The Chorus Swells: (Rated K+) "Something strange is causing everyone in the universe to break out into song! Can they find a way to stop it before the cosmos is one giant musical?"

This one is pure silliness inspired by a conversation about what Invader Zim would have been like as a musical. (On Hiatus)

Children of the Stars: (Rated T) "Zim ponders on the relationship between himself and the Dib human, and how it evolved and changed over his years on earth."

This is my only real ZADR fic and one of my first stories. It's short and perhaps a bit dramatic, and it deals with the relationship a little differently than I've usually seen. (Complete)
