Author has written 49 stories for Roswell, Harry Potter, Smallville, Once and Again, Joan Of Arcadia, Lost, ER, Bones, and High School Musical. I used to be quite prolific but I had some stuff going on in my private life and fic writing just didn't seem to happen for a while. Thankfully I'm now back and feeling all the better for it. You don't really appreciate how big something is in your life until you miss it for a while I guess. I started writing fanfic years and years ago and you know what? I sucked. I pretty much stunk the place out with it, but that's how you learn so instead of editing out all the bad stuff and only leaving the good stuff I have it all here. It's a good tool for me as a writer to look back and see what I was, and compare it to now but I also think it's important for me to remember that writing is fun. It was fun for me when I was sneaking an hour before homework, and it's fun for me now and although I'm a better writer now (I hope!) I wouldn't be where I was if it wasn't for the crap before. No one is perfect and I think pretending we are is a mistake - everyone starts somewhere and for me, I started with a crappy Dawson's Creek fic (which I lost on a computer before I found ) and followed it up with a crappy Roswell fic and so on, so on. There's no point hiding it, so that's why I still have a lot of bad fics on my profile. Okay - as a prolific fanfic reader can I just say one thing to any lurking authors - please, please, please don't beg for reviews (don't even get me started on people who hold chapters to ransom) - write for yourself. You know what? Some of the best stories I've read have like two reviews - some people are lazy, some people don't have the time, some people just don't like leaving reviews and find it easier to favourite it - it's just the way it is. If you're a review junkie then you're just setting yourself for disappointment. I'm a writer - I love it when people review my work, but I don't see the point in getting miserable if I don't get validation for it. Some of my favourite stories I've written haven't garnered much praise - but because I wrote it for me, it's okay. Maybe it's the experience of writing for a lot of obscure ships but people who beg and beg again for reviews just seem desperate. Let your fic speak for itself. I'll be honest - I never review fics where the author demands so many reviews per chapter. |
