So, basically it is a Project that my friend Flafy created. The Project was posted on a Forum and I regret not saving the guidelines on my computer because the Forum doesn’t exist anymore… from the notes I did the first time I saw the project, I will try to recreate the guidelines and I’m pretty sure I am just creating some new stuff along the way as well.

Why?

The project objective was to write stories in all levels of difficulty (following from basic to super high – or premium) with songs that related to the written content. Therefore, people would have to really think to create stories that fit with the song – people should not just post some lines on top of the story and that is it.

Rules

First, you needed to choose a band from a list my friend wrote. The list kept changing as people asked to add more bands. My personal rule regarding this project is that I would try to use only on song from each band I chose to do the fictions. Meaning that there should not be two stories with the same song or two stories with the same band – but I am considering exceptions on the latter for The One That Got Away.

Second, there was a list with fandoms and levels of writing difficulty. I obviously do not remember all of the fandoms available, but for me, I chose the following:

- Basic level: Warehouse 13 and Thor

- Medium level: Harry Potter, Twilight, Avengers and Narnia

- High level: True Blood, Big Bang Theory and Iron Man

- Super high level: Mediator, Pirates of the Caribbean and Millennium Trilogy

- Premium: crossover (this one was for everybody)

Just to remember, I chose these fandoms for each difficulty level. In the original project, Harry Potter and Twilight were on the Basic Level, for example. I decided to change them because it has been so long since I wrote a Harry Potter or Twilight fanfic that it is suddenly not that basic to write it again.*

And I guess this were the rules basically. I did not officially participate in it because for starters, the stories were supposed to be in Portuguese, the first one I did was already in English, and all of the others were as well. The other reason why I did not participate was that you were supposed to follow the rules, not make your own. Finally because you were supposed to write at least one story from a low level to be able to write the story of the other level, and I started with Avengers (which was a medium level in the original rules).

I guess another rule that I created and follow is that the name of the song becomes the title of the story. To me it makes sense this way, because if the story is related to the song then the name of the song is fitting with the story. This one I may also create an exception for The One That Got Away.

Note that I love this website as it was the first one that I used, but the lack of "wiggle room" in here depresses me, which is why I started using Archive of Our Own. My posted stories are there as well - and I even update there first, just so you know - and in there I can edit the layout so that the story appears just the way I intended. Plus, in AO3 I have no trouble posting the cover images in the sizes they were intended to be seen in the first place (!) and adding links (!) so that the reader does not have to open multiple tabs to see what I want them to see.*
