Hello! I read this fic long time ago (when it was first posted, actually) but I failed to leave a review because I didn't trust my English back then. However, in the last couple of days, I'd thought about this fic a lot, especially because I was talking to some people on twitter about Cold Case and this fic immediately came to my mind as I have to say it's been one of the very best fics I've ever read. I'm sorry that it didn't turn out the way you expected/wanted and that you end up resenting it as a result, but I want to say that, despite your feelings towards it, this fic is by far an excellent story. The premise, the writing, the interaction between characters and how you managed to portray them is wonderful. I loved each bit of it and I felt like letting you know.
Thanks so very much for sharing, for sticking to it despite you didn't want to, for being loyal to the characters and to your readers. That speaks volumes of what a great writer you are :))

Oh, wow. What a bittersweet ending. Because I loved it, but I'm also terribly sad that this is the last (unless something lovely and miraculous happens) I'll see of you in the CC world.

I'm sorry that I haven't reviewed every chapter, but unfortunately time is not something I have in abundance. I wanted to let you know, though, that the line from chapter 8 is one of my faves of all time. From everything I've ever read.

"Somethin' good has gotta come from this," he said, his voice quietly forceful, "Let it be me, Lil. Let it be me."

There's just something really beautiful about that.

And the ending is perfect. Life goes on. People get stronger. Loved ones help.

What an appropriate ending for a story with such a difficult subject matter and the whole story was handled sensitively. I note that at the beginning of the story you mentioned it is based on a real life incident and I hope that victim found the same hope. Everyone deserves a shot at happiness, especially if you have been a victim of such a horrid crime.

I have been a secret fan of your work (not to sound too stalkerish!) for a couple of years (Better This Way, Just Like This and Somebody Like Us got me through a case of salmonella food poisoing followed by a bad dose of the flu at the end of 2008) and I'm sorry to hear that you are retiring from writing Cold Case fanfictions. I also read Criminal Minds fanfictions and have noticed that you have written a few there so I hope continue reading your works there as you are a very talented writer.

Hi! I hope you still do know me, I've been absent for a while. I kept reading various CC stories and also this one but I was always busy and didn't review, sorry.

I like the story but while reading it I felt that you'd struggled with it. That's why I understand your decision about not writing CC stories anymore. With the ending of the show the passion is gone, that's right and I won't continue writing as well, also because I don't have time for it. But on this way, thank you for beta-reading my stories. You always helped me a lot with that.

Oh, I miss them! I loved this ending, it was appropriate for the tone of the story, and it did have a kind of hopeful colour to it... I've loved this story, it's been honest and brutal and heart-breaking, painfully realistic, but the characterisation's brilliant and I've adored the whole thing.

Sad that you're stopping writing Cold Case, but I know what you mean... I had a multi-chapter all planned out to start straight after the series finale, and have a few chapters written, but it's so hard to write them now. Reading your fic for this fandom has been a pleasure though, and I'm guessing I'll still come across your work as you seem to have slipped quite nicely into the Castle fandom! Looking forward to more from you there, thanks for the fic :)

I really enjoyed the ending, it does portray hope, healing and the fact that life does carry on in the face of tragedy. Thank you for your dedication to the characters of Cold Case, you will be missed! Hope to see you around again one day :)

I like how this story ended it strays away from other endings where they end up married or with a baby on the way. As much as I like those ending it is a bit of a cliche so having a story not ending like that and still convey a happy ending is still satisfying. I'll be sad to have you not write anymore fan fiction because to me your one of the authors that I actually look forward to reading more from. It's good to take a break from writing fan fiction especially when ideas are hard to come by when Cold case is over. I hope you the best.
