![]() Author has written 151 stories for Series Of Unfortunate Events, Marching Band, Danny Phantom, Nightmare Before Christmas, Myst/Riven, Edgar Allan Poe, Shakespeare, Inheritance Cycle, Dexter, Phantom of the Opera, Batman, Batman Begins/Dark Knight, Doctor Who, and Web Shows. Hi, I'm A Laughing Fish (Formerly Sugary Snicket), and I am a fan of many things including Myst, Batman, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Lovecraftian Horror. I adore horror stories and love a good Poe-esque or Lovecraftian horror tale, though I sadly do not see many of the latter. I suspect this is due to the Cthulhu Mythos pretty much being its own genre of fiction, and therefore publishable under copyright laws, but if anyone knows of some good Lovecraft/Other Fandom crossovers, by all means, tell me! I'm always in the mood for a good Eldritch tale. And before you ask, yes, I do like Creepypasta if it's well written. Yes, I have written stories about everyone's favorite tall, faceless stalker, but they are not located here - they are located under my FictionPress account, SugarRayne. My favorite type of candy is Reese's cups, but I usually go for the fruity candies before chocolate. My favorite fruits include mango, watermelon, strawberry, and cherry. Especially cherry. If you put cherry flavoring in it, I will eat it - I like cherry anything. I strongly support homosexual equality but I am oddly enough not that big on SlashFic... okay that's a bit of a lie; I do enjoy slash undertones (Batsy and Mr. J anyone?) or a slash pairing if it's canon. I have two mothers and my father was transgender MTF, so you can understand why I am a very strong advocate for gay marriage and LGBT rights in general. I was at one point a well-known member of the Myst fan community under another name; my favorite of the games is Myst III: Exile but Riven is a very close second. I was also fairly well-known and respected in certain Joker-centric Batman fan communities for my fanart and fanfic. Currently, I go under the username Vantablack Pharaoh on Discord, hanging around the Cthulhu Mythos sphere. I run and play Call of Cthulhu and have for several year now, as well as playing Delta Green and WH40k on occasion (Praise Nurgle!). I have a self-published TTRPG imprint through DriveThruRPG's Miskatonic Repository under the name Dark Trapezohedron Productions as well and have written many scenarios for Call of Cthulhu. In my spare time when I'm not at work, hobbies include: playing video games, TTRPGs and roleplay, reading, listening to music, drawing, writing (of course!), and surfing Youtube or Discord. I collect dragons as well and have been since I was in fifth grade; my most unique piece of my collection is a tattoo of a dragon sitting on my left shoulder blade, the artwork for which was based on two of the dragons already in my collection, and my favorite piece is a sculpture of a skeletal dragon resting on a human skull that I have nicknamed "Yorick". I also have a modest collection of Joker memorabilia, comics, and paraphrenalia, a collection of assorted pins and buttons that I keep on my backpack, and a collection of various odd knick-knacks that I've acquired throughout my life. I have a minor Cthulhu Mythos collection too, and my favorite deities from there are Nyarlathotep and Hastur/The King in Yellow. My favorite Call of Cthulhu campaign is Masks of Nyarlathotep and my favorite standalone scenario for it is Tatterdemaalion. I have a Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, an Associate's in Chemical Technology, and a Minor in Applied Statistics. Hablo Espanol, pero no lo hablo con fluidez. My skills are terribly out of practice, but chances are if you're a native Spanish speaker I can hold an understandable short conversation with you - even if the grammar's a bit off or simply incorrect entirely. I'm truly one old dog - I have been on Fanfiction.net since the Summer of 2005, with varying degrees of dormancy in between. As stated above, I have written over 100 stories, poems, and one-shots. The majority of my short stories are Batman tales, specifically focusing on the Joker, while the vast majority of my poetry is set in the Myst fandom. I originally wrote for the ASOUE fanbase with some Danny Phantom thrown in. I was relatively 'young' in my writing abilities then. I eventually came to write for The Nightmare Before Christmas and later, Myst/Riven and a little Eragon. I wrote Batman fanfiction for the DCU (pre-New-DCU) and Nolanverse, mostly Joker stories. I generally write one-shots and poetry, mainly because that's how plot ideas come to me most often (therefore multi-chaptered stories from me are kind of a big deal, since they take a lot longer to plan out and write - my last multi-chaptered fic took two years to get ready!). I do not write for any specific genre, but there are genres I prefer to write for (horror, drama, humor, suspense) and genres I don't (romance in particular, but I have written for it). I tend to divide my stories and poems into two categories: the Serious and the Not-So-Serious. As for writing style, I LOVE suspense and horror stories, and I love dark subject matters even more. You'll find that it shows mostly in the more Serious stories (though I do sometimes add humor in to break up the tension!). In fact, I love suspense so much that I consider it a little bit of a weakness as an author and I try not to rely on it so heavily nowadays. The Not-So-Serious stories tend to be dryly humorous, reflecting my often dark and sarcastic sense of humor, though some can be flat-out pointlessly random (not so much anymore, though). I generally try to aim for a good mix of Serious and Not-So-Serious (and perhaps a bit of the Why-So-Serious) when writing a typical story for a given fanbase, and I also try to add very vivid descriptions of the setting of a story, or, failing this, very vivid descriptions of the characters. I am known to be a bit of a purist when it comes to character traits and can be easily frustrated when a character is OOC, unless making the character OOC would add to the work as a whole. I generally have a strict desire to finish all stories that I write, partially because of my near Obsessive-Compulsive drive to finish something I've begun, so you should almost never see a story that I have abandoned in mid-plot. If the story is for whatever reason aborted, you'll never see a trace of it as it will never be written, because if it isn't strong enough to hold MY interest, how is it ever going to hold the reader's? I simply don't like to start a story unless I know at least where to begin. If I don't have at least that, I hold off on writing even the first draft until I know where I'm going with the ideas I get. I usually try to post my stories on some sort of schedule so people don't have to wait in suspense for months at a time for the next part of a story. You may not see a new story from me for long periods of time, due to life devouring every spare scrap of my time, but I occasionally pop in with a very short drabble or poem. I also update my profile as time permits, as I am always finding inspiration for new story ideas somewhere, so be sure to check back every so often! Currently, I am experimenting with short fiction over at my Fictionpress account (SugarRayne) as well as working on materials for Call of Cthulhu under my Dark Trapezohedron Productions imprint, so don't expect many stories here for now. Most of my fanfiction ideas are on the back burner for right now. I support the following ships: - ASOUE: Quiglet, Klausidora, Fernald/OC, Eslaf, the occasional Kliona, and Lemonitrice. In that order, my fave characters from each of those fanbases are as follows: - Violet Baudelaire, I always identified with her. With all due respect, A Laughing Fish PS: Please note that the dates here are only SPECULATED dates of publication and are subject to change at any time. How To Decipher my Expected Publishing Dates My expected DOPs are listed at the end of the stories' description in bold. Below is a quick overview of what they mean. Coming Soon: This means that the story is still being debated as to whether it is an interesting enough story to write and post. It also means that I have yet to plan it out, or I may have planned it, but I have not started to write it yet. A completed story will be erased from the list entirely because there is no longer any need for the information to be up. NOTE: All of my old crossover stories (or at least the ones that could be moved) are now located in the crossover section, and all future crossovers or Meta-style crossover fics will go there as well. That means that Bind, The Malevolent Mansion, and A Series of Paranormal Events: Bad Beginnings will no longer show up in the old categories. You shouldn't need to update any links, but if you do, I apologize for the inconvenience. From now on, any and all crossover stories will be under the crossover section, so look for them there, NOT in the normal section. I also renamed my short Cask of Amontillado 'sequel' to Broken Cask, so look for it under that. The short Batman Begins/Dark Knight fic called Entropy was also recently renamed to Apocalyptic Gotham: Three Experiments in Anarchy, so you'll now find it under that title even though the old link still works. Again, I apologize for any problems that this may have caused. Myst/Riven Alone or Together... Find a Way, Make a Home... I no longer write for this fandom. It has been far too long without any sort of inspiration, drive, or decent Mystfic ideas, so I am putting it to rest. I am sorry if this disappoints any of my fans, but now I can focus on more Batman stories and Jokerfic, as well as a few other things... PotO I am your Angel of Music... I don't write for this fandom anymore, but the occasional story might pop up in the future. However, my own Angel of Music seems to have gone AWOL on me; I simply can't find him anywhere. Hopefully he comes back soon... I've been meaning to return to the lair of the Phantom sometime... Batman, BB/TDK/TDKR, and DCAU Don't Get Even - Get Mad! Done a TON with Comic!Joker in the past, and hope to do more with him in the future. I don't really write for the Nolanverse anymore; it's just not in me these days, but I still love the Joker and still want to write for him. I haven't been writing as much as I could anyway because of life stuff, but I also just haven't had any inspo. I'm also still dabbling with just how far I can push the Joker's evilness, because we all know he's a twisted bastard anyway - and since I recently saw Joker and replayed through Batman: Arkham Asylum, the character's only been refreshed in my mind, so I doubt the Clown Prince is letting me go any time soon... Hazing (Working Title): It's not easy being an Arkham Asylum guard between the long hours, the breakout attempts, and the twisted villains that call its cracked stone walls and dingy cells home. It's even worse being a newcomer - for decades, the proud new employees of Arkham Guard Unit #35, tasked with guarding Arkham's Restricted Access Ward, have been subjected to a seemingly simple, innocuous dare - walk up to the cell door of patient #0801 (alias "The Joker") at the end of the hallway, get close enough past its yellow safety line to touch it, and stand there for a ten-count. Even more traditional is to hide in the cell when it's empty and scare the newcomer. It is this dare that new recruit Frank Olmetti must endure, but that cell isn't always empty... How far can one little prank go before it is no longer funny, and indeed is more terrifying than hilarious? Probably about a T rating, but might go lower. One-shot for now, but I suppose it could be a multi-chapter fic if I get the right flow going. (Suspense/Drama). Coming Soon. Only You (Working Title): Great, Bruce. Just great. Your communication system's been destroyed in combat, you're pretty sure you've broken something, and you're trapped in a room somewhere with your worst enemy. This night couldn't possibly get any worse, and the only reason you're not saying it out loud is because if you do, the Joker is going to ensure that it is worse. Exploring the Batman/Joker dynamic by trapping them in a oubliette for a night. Rating might be a K, but might also be a T depending on what happens and how dark the story gets. Likely going to be (Humor/General), and there may be shades of slash if you squint, but nothing blatant. Yes, the working title is a reference to the song Joker sings at the end of Batman: Arkham City, but may change. Coming Soon. Doll (Working Title): He had their life as a plaything, a set of pretty little dolls to do as he wished, a chess set in which they were pawns, a shaky Jenga tower with only a single brick holding it aloft. His favorite was always the pretty mama doll with the soft auburn waves who worked at the bank. Sometimes he even held her close and whispered words, threats, and fears to her, watching as she shook with nervous anticipation... What made Alicia afraid of clowns even before the Joker attacked her family. Takes place during The Neighborhood, exploring how the Joker toyed with Alicia while Robert wasn't looking. This might be altered and refreshed to be separate from that fic, though. Rated T for creepiness/thematic elements, and for some violence/death. (Suspense/Horror). Coming Soon. Jokercoke: A little green container of purple pills that have deranged smiley face patterns all over them. Ingedients: Giggles: 5, Bloodlust: 15, Anarchy: 10, Insanity: 50, Gut-busting hysterical laughter: 20, Fun of a Lifetime: 100. Side Effects May Include: Random bursts of laughter, Disoriented thought process, nonsensical speaking, and/or a sudden fascination with the color purple, the letter J, and shiny pointed objects. Contact your doctor immediately should you find yourself with a sudden desire to murder and destroy society, as this may be a rare but serious side effect. Do not use if you have thoughts of homicide. Other side effects may include laughing randomly, nonstop writing, sleeplessness and headaches. Serious and sometimes fatal laughter, severe albanism, changes in hair or eye color to green, or a rictus grin may occur within such cases you should consult your doctor. You should also consult your doctor if you begin to suffer from maschocistic or sadistic symptoms or an obsession with knives, bats, and/or the colors purple and green. You should tell your doctor about other drugs you may be using. Pregnant women should not take Jokercoke. You should not take Jokercoke with alcohol, (unless of course it's Jokerchol). (Thanks to ToffeeRose for this one. :3 ) Catwoman: Chemicals don't work that way. Joker: My hair is GREEN. If you love anti-heroes and villains, copy this into your profile. If you really don't care which film Joker is better, the Joker just kicks ass period, put this in your profile. Are you a Marble Hornets or Slenderman fan? Copy and paste this in your profile. My Knight doesn't wear shining armor, doesn't ride on a horse, and doesn't slay dragons. If you get a kick out of explosions, copy and paste this to your profile. If you copy and paste stuff onto your profile copy and paste this onto your profile. If you hear voices of the characters in your head...copy and paste this on your profile. Most people would be offended if someone asked them what was wrong with their mind. If you have ever stayed up past 5:00 in the morning just because you could, copy and paste this onto your profile. There is a BIG difference between Trolling and Cyber-Bullying, but the line's fuzzy and the two are NOT the same thing. Trolling is when you frustrate people for the intent of LULZ. Cyber-Bullying is when you slander, defame, call names, force someone to leave a website, stalk, harass, or otherwise make a person feel unwelcome anywhere in an online community. Trolling can be fun, is usually funny, and in some circles, is even encouraged. But Cyber-Bullying is NEVER funny and should NEVER be encouraged, and you know when the line between the two is crossed by how it makes you feel. If you have ever been bullied online or forced to leave any site due to cyber-bullying, post this into your profile and make people aware of this problem. Together we can put an end to cyber bullying! If you like to quote things, copy this into your profile. If you have too many of these copy-and-paste things in your profile and don't care who dislikes it, copy this into your profile. If you're a female Joker fan who's NOT just another Heath Ledger fangirl, copy and paste this into your profile. If you love these copy and paste things, even though they aren't that cool to begin with, copy this into your profile. You do realize that if you've read this far, you've given me brief control of your mind. You shall never be the same. Mwahahaha!! |
