Wow. That was really funny. For something that was written so well in such a serious tone it made me laugh. It was great.

I admit it was funny! For some reason, the idea of the Joker selling the crowbar from "A Death in the Family" on Ebay appeals to me (in a gruesome sort of way, I suppose). Although strictly speaking, I don't think we know whether Jason Todd would have still died from the injuries of that beating if it hadn't been for the Joker's bomb that was left in the room with him and went off several minutes later. That was what actually finished him off. (Of course, Joker may have assumed Jason was already dead or as good as dead, *without* actually bothering to check for a pulse. I can't remember the scene all that well; been awhile since I last read it.)

I take it for granted that he didn't get any offers for the simple reason that prospective customers assumed it was a hoax, because who would really sell a murder weapon on Ebay, admitting he had used it in a felony? I assume that's the implication you wanted to plant in our minds, but I suppose I could have misread the subtleties :)

(Heck, offhand I don't think it ever became public knowledge in the DCU that a Robin had actually "died" in the first place! Batman certainly wasn't in the mood to issue press releases on the subject. I think a lot of people in Gotham City probably assume that reported sightings of Jason Todd and Tim Drake were actually the same Robin all along - teenage boy, a lot shorter than Batman, fair skin, short black hair, etc. Which would certainly explain why customers found it difficult to believe Joker's claims for the history of that crowbar. I could be wrong, actually - I don't know how seriously anyone would have taken Joker's claims about killing Robin after he was eventually hauled back to Arkham Asylum.)

There's something deliciously absurd about your implication that on the one hand, Adam West still had the same acting career in the DCU as he did in our world - and yet, on the other hand, that the Joker has never even paid enough attention to that old TV show to recognize the name! If you tried to get away with that in a more "serious" story, I might try to poke one or two holes in it - but when the story is labelled "Humor" and the weird twist is funny enough, my standards are different :)

I did wonder why the forces of law and order didn't catch up with them as they left the post office, but maybe they left a bit too soon and the patrol cars pulled up just one minute too late to immediately catch sight of them? Or maybe the workers were too terrified to hit a silent alarm? (As with the Adam West thing, I make more allowances for these little nitpicking details when the story is funny.)
