. . . Who is Cos . . .

Hi, I'm Cos, though if you knew me back when I was really active, you probably knew me as The Cosmic Penguin (or VT/MTStarCosmic, but not as much work then.) Here's some fun things about myself:

Profession: Rocket scientist, CDL Class B (big vehicle driver).

Hobbies: Writing/reading/critique, drawing, gaming, singing, driving, speedrunning (I'm still a noob lol), programming, other stuff I forget.

Top 3 Game Series: Splatoon, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing.

Psych Trivia: Myers-Briggs type is INTJ, and I have depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and OCPD (though I've mostly cured it.) You can still do great things with severe mental illnesses and live. It's just not easy.

. . . Cos's Writing . . .

I love angst, hurt/comfort, and snark, which shouldn't be surprising as an engineer. You'll see my writing mimics this quite nicely. I also love experimenting with concepts that nobody else lets themselves use for whatever reason, which is the other portion of my writing.

However, you'll notice my activity has waned over the years. I still love fanfiction. But time isn't infinite, and I spent six years in Kirby. I may occasionally return to post Splatoon fanfics or fics written from nostalgia on other series, but I can't assure consistent content, if any. I have several concepts for original projects, and some base character designs and writing, but bigger projects like that take months to develop. However, if you like my Kirby work, you'll be pleased to know I'm adapting it all into an original universe called 'Wish.' It's based off my Kirby work and headcanons, but with some extra twists so that the people who read all my work don't see all the twists coming, haha.

If you'd still like to see my work, regardless of what it's on, PM me for a link to my Discord. I also have a small server where I hope to share what I'm up to. My knowledge base extends far beyond writing and fics, so you may find something to use in your own stories. I'm also active on other sites occasionally, though I'm not sure as of now where I'll be most active. . . . Parting Words . . .

Time is a luxury I can't afford. I'd love to say I'll always produce fanfics, but I can't make a promise like that. I will, however, always be producing content, as I mentioned above. If that's not up your alley and you're just here for fics though, I'd like to refer you to give my favorite stories and authors sections a glance. A lot of them have moved on, but there's still some around that are producing content (however slowly) to this day. I'll try to go through the archive(s) in the future and add more new talent, but for the moment, everything I've included should be quality enough for you to enjoy and learn from. I can't guarantee it'll be similar content to mine, but if you'd like my content, feel free to follow me to my new stuff lol.

On that note, I’m not sure who’s still around the archive anymore who hasn’t already left for personal reasons or original work…Many people left alongside me. The top four I can think of that I know are 1Thunderfire, MyKnightLife (aka Zuemara), Jewelsio, and CelticQuailKnight, though I know there are a handful of newer people who are proving their worth. If you’re looking for content the most similar to mine in the fact that it’s gameverse, 1Thunderfire and Celtic are probably your best bets, but if you’re looking for good writing in general, please go for them all. You won’t be disappointed.

In terms of tips for new writers or those looking to improve, I believe it’s important to be able to look at pieces that are written well, or well-received, and evaluate what made them work and how they can make use of those techniques themselves. It’s how I learned, and I highly encourage you to do it yourself if you’re struggling. Find someone’s writing you adore or that’s highly praised, and study what makes it work. You can learn a lot. When I was developing as a writer who wanted to take things seriously, I made a wishlist of things I liked in other people's writing, and spun it into my own to make my own style. It takes time, but it's fairly straightforward at its core.
