Author has written 5 stories for Kirby, and Super Smash Brothers. Hey-lo! I am a business student and hobby writer! I've been on this site since 2009. More recently I have had less time to devote to writing fan fictions, but I am still around to lend a hand and give tips and critiques. Stop by and say a quick hi! I am also a beta reader! Check out my profile! deviantArt: Tigermix I take art requests for fan characters. About Me As a Writer: People ask. I have few "real" advice/ observations about FFN: Make sure your first story is rated T or lower and isn't a crossover. Otherwise it won't show up in the main archive and will often be skipped over. Simple, but important to getting your first readers. More time/effort doesn't necessarily add up to a better story. The writers who get caught up in it often get writer's block, lose momentum, and ultimately lose readers from the long waiting periods. Pacing shows writing skill. In pacing, I mean the control over when and how characters interact and progress, where you throw the plot twists, etc. Blazing through the story at lightening speed is the mark of impatience to reveal critical plot twists. Dragging the story is the mark of a writer unable to control where their story's plot is going or control over English (or whatever language). Perfect pacing has no right answer, and can only be found from practice. Hesitate on fan characters. Let the canon characters do their job... the readers come to this website to read about their favorite characters. Give your fan characters a unique supporting role that doesn't interfere with the canon characters' roles. If the story doesn't need the added characters, don't include them. Trust your writing ability. Keep moving forward. The first fanfiction I ever read was Ivyna's Warrior's Secret on KRR. The fanfiction that brought me to FFN was Crazy-Foxie's Winning and Losing. Outside of FFN: I am almost constantly cold. Sweaters and tea are my thing. Current News: -6/26/14 I’m back from Japan! It was my first time there and it was a lot of fun, but wow… the Japanese are ridiculously polite! As far as I can tell… the Japanese love their fancy bathrooms, pachinko, and jelly-filled pastries/snacks. I barely saw any anime related stuff, and I only saw Kirby from an ad for the new Super Smash Bros. Japan, I expected more Kirby from you! D: A short list of where I went/what I did: Cities: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka Lots and lots of temples and parks Country side Cherry picking! Studio Ghibli Museum Mt. Fuji Slept ate at a traditional style japan (floor mats little tea tables cushions) Ate Hakone’s black egg (Hardboiled in the sulfur pools. The shell turns black, but it tastes just like a regular hardboiled egg. It’s supposed to bring you 7 more years to your lifespan. I hope so! I hate eating egg yolks!)I wasn’t too crazy about the cities; but I ever come back again, I want to go tour Japan’s countryside again. I had a lot more fun away from the buildings and out in the mountain/forested area. Very beautiful there. I got kind of sick from the food though. Not a lot of variety compared to Chinese food and I can’t stand soy sauce. -6/16/14 Prince Chapter XII and XIII are up. I’m a high school grad and on my way to business school in college! I won’t reveal the name of the college I’m going to simply because I don’t want strangers visiting me. It’s a small town college, it’s very beautiful and peaceful there, and I’m very proud to go. When it came to actually choosing the college, I had to take a lot of time away from each school deciding. It’s too easy to get caught up by how glamorous one school is and forget the ones that you really liked. I applied to 6 schools and was accepted to 4 of them. The last two that I had to decide between were practically polar opposites and it was rather difficult to choose. But… I’m absolutely happy where I’m going and what I want to do with my life. I don’t know if there’s any upcoming seniors out there, but if you want to ask anything specific about college applications, essays, or whatever, I can help! I don't post new chapters often, but I do come back to answer questions and check out the new stories in the community. I'm here to write and help! Sincerely, Cosmicgiraffe |
