Fumu stood next to a rose bush in the garden, admiring them. She began to humming to herself. It was a lullaby that she had gotten stuck in her head for some ridicules reason, but now she was off in her own little world, oblivious to everything except her and her rose bush. At least until she heard movement behind her.

Snapping out of her trance, she spun around to see Meta Knight, perched on the fountain in the middle of the garden, "Fumu-tan," he acknowledged, stepping down from the ledge of the fountain and approaching her, "What are you doing?"

"Hello Sir Meta Knight. I was just looking at the roses." She motioned to them. Meta Knight stepped up next to her, looking at the roses without any expression at all. It was almost as if he expected to them to attack him.

Fumu spoke again, "Beautiful, aren't they?"

Meta Knight did not pull his gaze away, but he spoke to Fumu, "Yes, very much so."

Fumu reached her hand into the bush in an attempt to pick one. She jerked her hand back, a small trickle of blood running sluggishly down her hand, "I hate thorns," She said, sticking the finger in her mouth to stem the flow of blood.

"Are you alright?" Meta Knight asked, looking at the finger, which had a small cut on it, still with a trace of blood.

"Yes, I am. It's just a cut. I'll get it bandaged up when I go inside," she assured, smiling. She looked at the sky, it had taken on a purplish pink glow, the last traces of the sun slowly disappearing behind the castle walls. "It's getting late. Mom will want me in for dinner. Thank you for being out here with me, Sir Meta Knight," she smiled softly at him. He slowly gazed into her eyes, trying to keep any affection from crossing his stare, "You are welcome Fumu,"

Fumu ran off into the castle, leaving the knight alone in the slowly dimming garden. Once he was sure that she was no longer within earshot, he drew Galaxia. Gently, he cut the stem of a particularly of two particularly elegant roses, he re-sheathed the sword, he carefully plucked the thorns off and tucked them beneath his cape and stepped back into the castle.

-Fumu's Room-

Fumu sat on her bed, drawing a picture of Kirby, Bun, and herself. She wasn't very good and she would admit it, so the picture ended up looking like a warped beach ball and two french fries with hair.

It was dark now; only the balcony outside her window was visible and beyond that, blue darkness.

Fumu heard a click at her window, a bit like someone throwing a stone against the glass. She kicked off the covers and slowly stepped over to the window. She saw nothing, so she opened it up and stepped out onto the balcony where a cool yet comforting breeze greeted her.

She spotted something sitting on the edge of the battlement. She picked it up. It felt like glass, its edges very smooth and very detailed. She carried it inside into the light so that she could see what it was.

In her hand, she held a small yet lovely glass vase with two bright red roses intertwining each other as if in an eternal embrace. One of the roses had a small tag on it. She untied it from the rose and squinted at it.

-Lady Fumu

The handwriting, like the roses, was stunning. Curled and neat, it made her name look extravagant. Important almost, as if this small slip of paper was a poem, or a song.

She smiled, and set the vase on her desk. She knew who it was from, she loved him, but, up until now, she wasn't sure he felt the same way about her.

Yeah, first FumuxMK. Grrr the ending kind of sucked like, a lot. Sorry about that. I haven't been about to get to my computer since 4:00 AM Friday morning due to a power outage caused by a huge frost that made so many tree limbs fall in out yard it looks as if it was bombed or else I would have posted this sooner.
